There has been lots of stuff going on between the snowbanks at my house that I wanted to share. I decided today I would write it all up and join the Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like a Dog! Don’t be shy, join in and share in the fun!
It was really dumb of me, but I cut my back right paw late last week and didn’t tell Mom about it. By Friday night I started to limp. On Saturday it got worse, I was only using three paws, and by Sunday morning Mom noticed blood when I was out walking, an advantage of snow, you see everything. We came home and she bandaged up my paw, but it kept bleeding and I was really sad all day because it really hurt. Mom still did not know for sure what was wrong as there was lots of paw fur in the way and I didn’t like her touching the area.
Monday we made the decision to go to our vet at the Inver Grove Heights Animal Hospital. They are awesome but I am still scared out of my fur when I go there. My nice vet shaved the area and we could see the cut. She washed it out, cleaned it up and put a serious dressing in purple on my paw. By Tuesday I was already starting to walk on that paw again. Mom changed the bandage on Tuesday night and it looked much better. The swelling was gone and it was no longer bleeding. As of last night I am bandage free, but will be wearing a shoe when I go out until it is all healed up. I learned not to hide injuries from Mom because they only get worse! Thank goodness we have great vets to take care of me!
Then we have little Bailie who is following in my paw prints. Miss Bailie had her very first photo audition appointment last week at Shelter Studios with Barbara O’Brien.
Finally it was her turn. She got some cuddles from Barbara and then a few snaps for her portfolio, which haven’t been released yet. Mom tried to get one of her in the “limelight” but her shots didn’t come out too well. Now we will just wait and see if she gets any modeling calls.
I won a book from my friend Dakota a while back. The book is Stanley and Norman: Bad Boy Basset Brothers and it was even autographed by their dad their typist. What an awesome book for us long eared sisters! It is almost the best book ever, but I have to say my book Tales of a French Scent Hound is the best. I may be a bit biased on the subject, though. With my bum paw, it was a good time to hang out, put my bandaged paw up on a stuffed goose and read to Bailie. If you have mini humans, it would be a great book. Thank you, Dakota! You can get the book at StanleyandNorman.com
I also won a SwiPets glove from, this is kind of embarrassing, Cody the cat! I hate to admit it, but I do follow some cat blogs and occasionally win things for my cats. We have lots of cat hair around the house, making this glove a perfect item for Mom. We got it, tested it, and would definitely say it works well. Another awesome thing is that you can actually wash the glove as it will get dirty after picking up lots of hair.
Last but definitely not least, I was nominated for two awards from Barking from the Bayou! I will add these to my awards page. This is a great blog! Melissa is an author. Her dog is Bentley, a Basset Hound, and she is watching Pierre, her daughter’s Westie for a while. They are pretty new to the pet blogging scene. If you aren’t already a fan, stop by and take a read. I think you will like it! Thank you for thinking of me!
I think that about covers it…time to go out and shovel…another day, another snowstorm! Life as a Minnesota dog!
