Mom had the idea for this post. Ever since I was a tiny pup I had a thing for sleeping in baskets. My big sister Katie had a really big dog bed in a basket that she loved to sleep in and there was another large dog basket for me to sleep in when I got bigger.
I don’t know why, but it just seemed too big for me when I was a puppy and I found that when I was tiny the cat spots were much more snuggly for sleeping so I started sleeping in the cat basket. Of course, from day to day and week to week I was growing and that darn cat basket was staying the same size. By the time I was almost a year old mom told me that I was simply too big for the cat basket but I refused to believe it! I would agree that my 80 pound sister Katie is way too big but I am still a tiny girl, even mom calls me tiny sometimes! If I grow or get fat, my fur will always fit me, but for people, if they grow, their clothes won’t fit. Mom says me trying to fit into the cat basket is like her trying to wear her old jeans from her school days. I guess I just have trouble seeing myself as too big. I mean 38 pounds is not exactly large and I have heard that some cats weigh like 20 pounds and they would still sleep in the cat basket so where is the problem. To this day, every time mom puts the cat basket on the floor I am there, in it, bigger than life (and the basket), curled up as tight as I can get and trying to snooze. I refuse to believe that I am simply too big! I am not a quitter and I will never give up on the cat basket! We did have to leave our large basket beds in Germany when we moved but the cat ones came with us. We have very nice comfy dog beds here in the US, but there is just something about the cat basket, maybe because I loved it so when I was a tiny pup, can’t seem to get over it!

Oh my goodness, that was SO sweet Emma!! I love, love, loved the video too. Tell your Mommy she is awesome, just like you! I am so glad we met and are friends. You are just the best and so fun.
Have a wonderful day…maybe we’ll talk on Twitter tonight if Mommy is not too tired, LOL!

emma, you’ve won an award! come to my blog to pick it up: http://www.lifewithdesmond.com/
What a sweet video!! I used to sleep in the cat’s bed when I was tiny too, and I even used to get inside the cat igloo bed. I could still fit in now but only if I was doing ‘compact’ sleeping like you’re doing in the last picture!
Emma, great to see your basket case. I really surprised that you also love puppy. She looks great pet. Thanks 😉
