Today I have to get started with the birthday celebration preparations! My sister Katie is hitting the double digits tomorrow, meaning she is going to be 10! Mom said she would handle the present(s) but I was in charge of the food and party. This is a lot of responsibility for a dog such as myself as such a milestone must be properly celebrated. Katie likes peanut butter, bananas, apples and carrots a lot so I need to find a cake that has some of these ingredients. After searching for some time I decided to go with a Carrot Peanut Butter Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting.
This is a bit different than making cookies as I have to use a mixer. If you doggies try this recipe, make sure your mom helps with the mixer so you don’t get hurt! I put all my ingredients on the counter and then add them into the mixer bowl. Turn on the mixer and let it go until everything is looking mixed in. Before you put the batter in the pan make
sure that you take a taste. There would be nothing worse than not tasting the batter and realizing after the cake is done that it needed something else for flavor. Oh, yummy! This one is really tasty and now I even have some on my nose.
Get some help when you put your cake in the oven too as ovens are very hot and dangerous! I like to leave the light on so I can watch my masterpiece bake. If you sit right in front of the oven you can get a good wiff when that tasty
smell starts wafting out of the oven – careful not to slip and fall when you get up if you have drooled on the floor by accident. This is a problem usually with larger dogs like Newfoundlands or St. Bernards.
When you take the cake out of the oven it is best to let it cool on a cooling rack but put it somewhere safe so no other house pets cruise by and steal it – trust me, it happens and that is really frustrating! My cat bro Bert would take a piping hot cake that is burning his mouth – he
risks anything for food!
Once it is cooled you can frost and decorate. Then the best part is the eating. Unfortunately, I will have to wait until tomorrow to eat the cake but I know I will dream about it tonight and I also know my sister Katie will just love it so much!
Also on my to do list was the party items. I dug out the hats, napkins, plates and am working on blowing up the balloons. That is hard work for a small dog. As you can see, Bert has decided to
join in and help me out but he has flat out refused to blow up balloons with me, lazy cat!
Check in tomorrow for my blog post about Katie’s actual birthday – see how the finished cake looks, what she is getting for a gift, how the cake goes over, etc. I still have a few items to finish up like getting groomed – Yuck! Til tomorrow!

Happy Birthday to Katie a day early! I’m sure that cake is going to be wonderful and I can’t wait to hear about the day. By the way the large spatula on the wall in your first picture… that’s awesome.

This was SUCH a fun post. I am sure I say that for all of them, but you are just a fantastic blogger Emma. You made Mommy laugh out loud several times, and I love the photos!! Now, don’t let Bert get that cake…you’ve worked too hard for him to mess it up. Make him do the ironing if he starts creating trouble, BOL! Tell Katie HAPPY BIRTHDAY for me.
Love you, Pixel
Hey Emma, Jet here.
Emma, may I say that you have certainly blossomed into quite the Chef! Mom and I agree that your posts truly have a Julia Child-esque quality, my furiend. As The Kitchen Counselor, Mom asked me to share that she particularly likes that you go over safety features… VERY IMPORTANT!
How sweet to mark such a milestone for your sister tomorrow. She will just drool over your deliciously thoughtful cake… Since it is birthday minus 1 hour and 6 minutes where we are… please pass on early birthday wishes for us, ok???
Thanks Jet! Also, I did receive the message about the blog award from you, just have not had time to post about it yet but will soon. Many thanks! Emma
What fun! And what a cute pic! Can I come to the party so I can taste that cake – it sounds yummy!
