Using restraint to not just eat that cake

Happy Birthday Katie!  Today my big sister turns 10!  Wow, she has reached the double digits!  We had a really nice walk this morning, I managed to shag out 9 bunnies from under trees and in the tall grass.  Katie loves to watch them run, so that was my treat for her.  Today is going to be in the 90’s and humid, so we will be in the house most of the day with the a/c on.

Katie has so many friends and she would love to have them all over for a party but with all the heat it is too hot to be outside so we just had our own little party.  We did visit some of her pals on our walk this morning and also at lunch time so she did get to see a few friends.  I think she misses some of her friends in Germany sometimes but she has made a lot of new ones here.

Poor Katie does have some arthritis issues so for her gift, mom got her a cot to lay on when she is outside.  We are hoping that she won’t be as stiff when she gets up from the cot as she is when she sleeps on the wood on the deck.  Neither of us play with toys really and we have a whole drawer full of snacks so mom got Katie something she could really use.

The day is going to be fairly low key, she opened her gift, she did get some greeting cards in the mail and we shared some cake.  For the rest of the day we will just hang out with mom, nap and try to stay cool!

I could not ask for a better sister, aside from the first few days after my arrival into the household (at first she was really mad about me and wanted mom to return me), she has always been there for me.  She teaches me, saves my furry behind when I get into trouble (which happens often), plays with me and just loves me and I love her at least as much.  When we have to do things alone with mom we don’t like it, we like to be together.

I am inserting a slideshow from the days events.  Remember, my sister is pretty serious, she does not like to clown around or look stupid so she is not always smiling and was not thrilled about the party hat and balloons.  I am the official family goofball, I will do anything, I don’t care!  Actually, Katie and I are really exact opposites in just about everything except for being dogs but we compliment each other perfectly.

PS:  I did get myself groomed but then I went swimming this morning and was back to my usual shagginess : )
