Who is Fred I am sure you are asking? Fred is my squirrel friend. I was just calling him a squirrel but then mom said he needed a name and we decided to call him Fred. We live in a newer neighborhood so there are not a lot of good places for squirrels to hang out but mom has been busy planting trees and the neighbors as well and slowly but surely the little squirrelys are making their way to my house! YAY!!! Gramma gave my cats a bird feeder that mom put in the ground right outside our front window. It is down fairly low and kind of in the
bushes, but lucky for me, the squirrels and wabbits are enjoying it too! I think Fred makes his way all the way to my window just because he knows that I feed him.
Wabbits are my very favorite animal but squirrels are a close second! When Fred makes an appearance I get so excited I practically jump out of my fur! He is a funny guy as he comes sometimes like 3-4 days in a row right at noon and then I don’t see him for days or weeks but then he will come at 5 am a few days in a row. I don’t know why he doesn’t show at the same
time everyday, it would make my life easier. Maybe he has a family or a job and he can only get away certain times. No matter, really, I am just so thrilled for every time he is in my window. I usually am sitting in my cuddle bed when he arrives but then I get so excited I kind of fall off my bench and out of my bed and stand at the window barely breathing! You cannot imagine my excitement. Fred has no fear of me, so he must understand the concept of windows. Mom says I don’t understand the concept of windows because I have totally scratched up the
lower window frame. If we ever move mom says we will have to either get a new window or if possible get the frame refinished and that may come out of my savings. I just dig into the wood trying to get out to Fred don’t know what the big deal is. The other thing is that I like to wake everyone up when Fred arrives – I howl and bark like a mad dog – mom really likes that, especially at 4 am when Fred is early! Yes, sometimes I do roll out of my bed to go to my window at that time of day in the summertime!
So, that is the answer to the question – Who is Fred? He is my personal squirrel and I just sit in my window hoping he stops by again really soon!
This blog is part of the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop! I am thankful for Fred!
We have a squirrel friend here too, her name is Stubby and she comes to our feeder almost everyday. Of course our picture window is getting scratched up too… replacement most likely if we ever move!
THat’s wonderful you have a squirrelly friend! I’m following you on your blog and on twitter now. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday blog hop!

Hey Buddy,
I think Fred’s cousins live over here, cos they’re always dashing through my garden, then run across the top of the fence – they’re not brave enough to actually be in the garden.
I usually know when they’re coming as the other Dogs in the neighborhood give me a call – then it’s a panic to see if Mum will let me out? I’ve discovered that the calmer I appear the more chance I have, especially if Mum doesn’t realize why I want out! 🙂
It’s a fun game!! Oh and yes, we also have 2 very scratched windows in our house too, I don’t know what the big fuss is, I think I did some pretty patterns 🙂
Have fun with Fred buddy,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
I’m saving these comments about the scratched windows to show mom so she knows it is a totally normal thing, I would so love to catch a squirrel but it is fun to have one right there in front of me too!
You’re such a clever Doggie Emma,
I think I’m going to print out the glass comments too for my Dad!!

Your pal Snoopy 🙂
How nice to have a pet squirrel, even if he is a bit lapsidasicle with his timing.
We hopped over from the Blog Hope…We are thankful for squirrels, too! We don’t name ours though… there are sooo many, we would run out of names for them all!
Glad you came by from the blog hop. It’s nice to meet you. You’re our first GBGV. We read your about page. Very interesting.
LOL. That is pretty cool that you have your very own squirrel friend named Fred!
Its so great that you can see Fred right from your bench and that he is so exciting. I have a feeling your right Mom is not as excited for you to tell her at 4:00 in the morning, but you wouldn’t want her to miss him coming.:)
She likes him too but not so much when she is sleeping but she understands our excitement!
