Aloha friends! We are in full Hawaiian mood here at our house right now! As you may know, Buddy is back for another 10 day stay. He was seeming a bit depressed so I asked what was wrong. Well, the poor guy! His family went on vacation to Hawaii this time and he did not get to go. He had heard about all the beaches and fun in Hawaii and was looking forward to the vacation but then ended up at our house. He did not want to offend us as he likes it at our place but he had high hopes of going with to Hawaii. Since mom knows a lot about pets and
traveling she told him that it is no fun for pets to go to Hawaii. Dogs have to spend from 5 to 120 days in quarantine when they arrive on the island. Since Buddy does not even like going to a regular dog hotel kennel, he was definitely not interested in any quarantine just for a vacation. The way we figure he would still be there in quarantine when his family came home, so he really has not missed out on anything.
To cheer him up a bit, Katie and I thought we would have a little doggie Luau, a little Hawaii
in the house. Mom got us some fun party supplies and we set up our party. Even Bert my cat bro really got into the idea. Well, ok, he was more into playing with the leis but he was still involved. Katie and I got to wear grass skirts. Boy, don’t know who came up with these grass skirts but they are crazy – I think my dog collar covers up more of my body than my skirt! We had some backdrops and we also had leis. Bert did not want to hang out with us for the photos, so mom took one of him with his lei all by himself. Buddy did not mind wearing some leis
just Katie as usual was not real thrilled. She insisted on sticking her tongue out in every photo so mom said fine, be that way!
As our Hawaiian treat, mom chopped up our fresh pineapple and made us some pineapple yogurt pops. We don’t have any photos because we had to eat them a bit later outside – they got a bit messy. To make those, mom just diced up some frest pineapple, took some juice from the pineapple too and mixed it all with some plain yogurt – stuck it in the freezer in paper cups
and let it freeze. To serve, she peeled the cups off and we ate it on the grass. We each just had one. Pineapple is good for dogs but we should not eat too much of it, so one was the limit. I have to say they were really yummy. It was hard for me not to just rip open that pineapple sitting in front of me at our Luau, it smelled so good and I found out it tasted even better than it smelled! Instead of real Mai Tais, mom made us some watered down low sodium chicken broth, that was slurped up asap!
It was a lot of fun and I think it helped cheer Buddy up! Alo-woof-ha!
Celebrate the one year Tasty Tuesday Blog Hop today!
Oh so sweet, that looks like so much fun!!
MOwZERS! That was some pawty!! Were there any salmon daquiris there, or mousie Mai tais? *wistful look*
Sounds like cat stuff – our cat Bert just shares dog stuff with us…the chicken broth Mai Tais were pretty good!
Sounds like fun to me! Aloha!
Hawaii is a beautiful place to go, but you are right Buddy would not have been able to see it. It was really nice of you to give him a Taste of Hawaii of his own. I’m sure he had a lot of fun. Aloha.
Wow!! You guys sure know how to throw a party!! I’m sure Buddy was wagging again in not time!!
Hope you’re having a blast!! Gonna do any surfin’ ?
Wags to all,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
I would probably like surfing as I like sledding but I doubt I will get to try it here in MN. Not really the surf capital – BOL!
Hey Emma, Jet here.
Oh reading this could not have come at a better time. It made Mom and I grin widely. We LOVE the pics and your outstanding sense of creativity and festiveness. How kind you bringing Hawaii to Buddy!
Thank you, my aim is to make people smile and laugh since I am a goofy dog! Just love havin’ fun and mom likes the camera.
Wow, Gwennie is insanely jealous over the whole luau thing! She already thinks I am a pretty boring Mom. Guess I will have to step up my game!!!!! Emma, you are the hostess-with-the-mostest!
Mom is only boring when she has to work a lot, otherwise we always try to do fun stuff. I think Gwennie is a pretty lucky pup to have you for a mom!
