Wow, this spa time thing made the past week real nerve-wracking for this pup. About a week ago mom started talking to me about grooming, spa time and that horrid 4-letter word bath and then she would hug me and smile and say she could not wait. Well, I could wait like forever, as I did not know what she was up to. If you follow me much you know I am not the neat and tidy type, let’s just say that dirt is my best friend, sometimes mom calls me her living Swiffer. Mom tries her best to keep me groomed but she says it is like wrestling an alligator and
the alligator always wins – she is really tired of it and thinks I need a professional to give me a good once over. She has been saying that for like 3 years so I had no worries, but this past week has been different. I personally think I am good as I am and don’t know what she is finding wrong with me and my messy look.
I do go to the groomer to have my ears plucked but that is about it. My breed does not really get haircuts, we get our hair stripped and a lot of groomers don’t do that
and mom is never sure who to trust. I am very special and she realizes that – kind of an egomaniac about myself actually. Katie has all her boyfriends as we all know and the mom of one, Cody, has a sister that recently started her own grooming business. Mom has talked with Cody’s mom about it now and then and Cody has shown off his neat and tidy self to us but I did not think much of it. I was so caught off guard! Wouldn’t you know that when I was not listening mom got the groomers name so she could call her and that is exactly what
happened! Mom called Emily at Doodles to Poodles Dog Grooming and set up an appointment for me. OMD! I had no idea what was going to happen.
One lovely rainy morning we took a shorter walk and then mom insisted on drying me really well which is odd. We had breakfast and I was settling in for my morning nap when mom said “come on Emma ab ins Auto” (my cue for get in the car), naturally I went along since I love to be with mom. Once seatbelted in I had a pretty bad feeling
that this was not good as I was alone…oh no! We drove to a house where we had never been before and went to the door to be greeted by a friendly puppy and Emily. I sniffed out the entire house while mom talked to Emily and then I went to the door and wanted to leave. Mom said no, this was spa time and she would leave me all alone with this person I did not know – was she off her rocker???
Turns out Emily was so nice! She loves dogs,
she was super gentle with me and I could tell there was no danger. I decided not to fight with her, just let her do her thing, the only issue is that I kept sitting down, she wanted me to stand but that was ok. She was working away on me for a long time and then I ended up in the bath – not bad actually, much nicer than my bath at home. I hope mom does not get a plumber bill because all the dirt she washed off of me most likely clogged her drain!!! She dried me, worked a bit more on me and after almost 3 hours mom appeared again and she was so happy. I don’t know what the big deal is, I mean who wants a clean and tidy dog. She said I was so white she needed her sunglasses to look at me. I think the best part of it all is that she is so happy and she just can’t leave me alone – always wants to look at me and snuggle and kiss me.
Mom was worried that a groomer would not know what to do with me since I am a rare breed and she had such high hopes but Emily was perfect. Mom is just thrilled to death and I have to say that I feel a bit lighter minus a lot of hair and dirt! It sounds like I will get to do a spa day every 3 months or so and I think I will be ok with that.
Time to check out the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop, see what others are up to!

Thank you – Emily was really nice and gentle so I trusted her!
Emma you look pawsome to me all the time – but I think that groomer knew what she was doing because you look even better now! *Waggy tail*
Awww…I am blushing under my fur – so nice of you!
I’ve just come across from the Extreme pet bloggers blog hop to say hi.
The groomer did a great job you look adorable.
Thank you for stopping by and thinking the spa paid off!
Emma, you look ravishing! Gwennie is very impressed! She wanted me to be sure tell you. And now she wants a spa-day! She says if BFF Emma gets a spa day, BFF Gwennie must have a spa day, too! Rut roh!!!!!
I am really surprised that I liked it and behaved but the best is that mommy loves my fur and can’t stop petting and snuggling with me 🙂
You’re a beauty spa day or not! My guys don’t like our “shave and bathe days” as I call them either! LOL
Well, the boys – what can you expect, they should be rustic! 😉
As kittehs – and shorthaired ones at that – we’re soooo glad we don’t hafta go thru that (but you DO look really VERY pawesome in your new mug shot!!)
Hey Emma,
I didn’t think it possible you could look any prettier, but you sure do!! 🙂 I was intrigued to read of your visit as I’ve never been – it didn’t sound too bad – I always want to sit down too – Tee Hee – My Mum puts a little plastic stool on the table under me which makes it really hard to sit down until she lets me – doh!!
Thanks for sharing your experience buddy 🙂
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
If you have a good groomer I would suggest it, I think I will like going there now and then, plus less stress for mom!
You look beautiful 🙂
Emma you do look white and soft and cuddly, I can see why Mom likes to give you more attention and cuddles. The newfs go to the groomer, I don’t even try to cut all that hair. They both love their groomer and the are so soft and fluffy when they get home I pet and rub tummies, I love the soft feel.
I think I am learning groomer=snuggling which is a great thing!
