Yesterday mom said that we should have some dog park fun so she took us to the Burnsville Dog Park. There are 5 dog parks within a half hour or so of our house, we have a favorite and some that aren’t really that great but we go anyway for variety. The Burnsville Dog Park is one of our two winter dog parks. This dog park has some great features, like it is lighted so you can go in the early morning or evenings in the winter time, it has a warming house with heat lamps for the pet parents to hang out in when it is
super cold out, lots of trash cans and poop bags and it is free, donations are optional. The bad part is that it has a pond in the middle which is really gross mom says. Katie drinks from it and gets really sick for days, I swim in it and look like walking mud, so we only go in the winter when it is frozen.
For some reason, yesterday mom wanted to go there and thought it was cold enough that Katie would not drink the water and I would be old enough to listen when she told me no
swimming. Well, let’s say that Katie is healthy, did not drink the water but me…I really enjoyed myself…ok, sorry mom, I am a little devil!
Katie, mom and I go to dog parks mostly to walk, not to play and this park is just a boring circle, so another reason we don’t go there much. There were not too many dogs which we like. I am not big on being stormed by strange dogs but Katie enjoys making new friends and she did meet a
couple new friends on this trip. I prefer to hang out with the people and get petted and told how cute I am rather than be attacked and drooled on by dogs I don’t know.
On our first round I headed right for the pond but mom called me back and I came. She was super proud of me. I then found all kinds of great stuff to roll around in and was covered in dirt and leaves, it was so much fun! Katie is so boring, she just walks along and never rolls and hates to be dirty! There
are some paths through the little treed areas that I like to cruise around on and Katie and I enjoy sniffing together sometimes.
I found a really nice big rock to pose on with the wind in my fur – I must say I felt pretty regal!
We just took 2 laps of the park yesterday since we had already had a longer morning walk and about 3/4 of the way around the second time I disappeared for just a few minutes and then reappeared with my new
look – Emma the bowling shoe! Yes! I did it, I found the mud on the side of the pond in the swampy area and I jumped right in before mom even knew I was gone. What a great feeling having rolled in tons of stuff and then a nice mud coating, it just could not be better. I don’t know why, but mom was not sharing in my happiness and all of the sudden we were walking rapidly to the car.
Mom loaded Katie in first and then took me on the leash and headed across the parking lot – oh no, no please, not the dreaded dog wash station! Oh my dog, it was still operational at this time of year and guess who got an ice cold hose down? Oh well, it sure was fun while it lasted and I know we won’t be back there until that pond is frozen!

That sounds like so much fun!! I wish we had dog parks here *sigh*
We like them and each one is different which is nice for variety!
ps. I have something for you on my bloggy! http://wp.me/s2h87n-cupcakes
LOL! It’s not fun unless we get a little muddy, right? Lol!
Mom says I am a tomboy dog cuz I love being a mess!
What a fab day out you had, wish we had those sort of dog parks, where we lived. xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
Yeah for dog parks!
Hey Emma, Jet here.
You know, we always leave out Katie… and as the Gentleman I am, I must offer a large apology. She’s quite a beauty btw… two fetching ladies in one house, my my!
Um, Emma? Mom is at the biscuit earning place and taking a mini break to read this…. she’s not supposed to make a peep and she’s trying to hold in her laughter at your little escapade with the mud and leaves! I’ve had to go to the dreaded washing station too, sorry to see you had to deal with that!
Glad you had tons of fun. Mom hasn’t taken us to the park in a long time because of the glass shards on the ground and the electrocution in the pond, where I have gone swimming before. 🙁
Wow – your park sounds like a Halloween horror park! We try to go once a month, usually to the other park that is our fav. Thanks for mentioning Katie, my older, pristine sister that hates to be dirty 🙂
It’s a small park, however, we were so excited to finally have one in the area… sad to see that humans snuck in and left naughty stuff for the humans and K9s who go there to play. The fountain/electrocution issue was horrible, a golden perished. Now, lots of humans worry that they have not straightened out the problem, even though supposedly they have. 🙁
Woof! Woof! Oh How FUN!!! especially rolling on a stinky stuff photo. Absolutely mud dirt on fur are beautiful. If you wish to add this on the hop, yes. will appreciate if you add a text link or the badge of our hop. Happy Seeing Beauty at the dog park. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Thanks, Sugar!
Oh, mud IS beautiful! Thank you so much for joining the blog hop so we could find your great blog full of kindness and wagging tails and seeing beautiful!
Thank you for visiting my blog and I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Emma sounds like you had a lot of fun at the dog park. We would hate to go to one that we can’t swim!! Sorry about the freezing dog wash:(
I love to swim, I even try to swim in puddles by laying down in them, mom does not like that either!
Our mom won’t take us to the dog park:( She says Ash is too mean, Teddy is too scared and I leave pee mail on absolutely everything! In fact, the last time we went this man asked mom if she thought I had anything left in my bladder cause I had marked everything. What the heck…isn’t that what we are suppose to do? Mom hasn’t taken me back since. I really need to talk to her!
We have to watch my sister cuz she can be mean but geez, a dog park is the ideal place to pee all over everything – you need to go back!
That sounds like a great day Emma! I love to roll and get full of mud. How inconsiderate of your peoples to give you an ice cold hose down. I love the cold, but icy hose water? Brrrrrrrrrr!
Sounds like fun times! I love the pic of you on the rock. How awful to be hosed down with ice cold water though! Yikes!
Well I swim in the water even when ice starts forming so it was ok, but I really wanted to keep the mud!
