Today, October 29, is a happy sad day at our house. 5 years ago today our kitty Boo passed away suddenly. Boo was a great cat, she was super small and a total clown that loved every creature, cats, dogs and humans. She was all about fun and mischief which is one reason this post fits into Monday Mischief. Mom adopted her from a cat rescue organization in Germany and she was a goofy cat from day one I hear. She loved mom’s first dog Trine and as a kitten Boo was always napping on top of or next to
her. She loved Katie and enjoyed washing Katie’s face fur when Katie was trying to snooze. Boo had cancer when she was around 2 yrs old, she actually had a horn like growth on her head, mom said it was the devil in her coming out as she was a devil of a cat, but a nice devil. This was removed and she was fine, but she always had trouble with her weight and she had odd behaviors. She even liked to carry our dog toys around and kind of meow/growled while she transported them. She loved moving and
was really excited to be in the US and looked forward to our new house. Boo was also looking forward to her first Halloween and even had her chicken costume ready to go. Sadly, she never made it to the house as we left with mom in the morning on October 29th and about 2 hrs later gramma called mom to tell her that Boo was gone. She was just walking downstairs, let out a loud screeching noise and that was it. Gramma took her to the vet asap but there was nothing left to do. At only 8 1/2 yrs old, she
was gone. We all still miss Boo as she was a super sweet girl that died much too young.
On the happy side of this day, exactly one year after Boo’s passing mom went to the Humane Society to get a new kitten and she came home with 2 adult cats, Bert about 3 yrs old and Sophie around 1 yr old. Mom did not want another male cat but Bert won her over and let me tell you about mischief – this guy is the king and mom often tells him that any other person would have returned
him as he causes her so much grief but she does love him. It was not long before we noticed a lot of behavior similarities between Bert and our beloved Boo. He is on the chubby side, behaves like a dog, has no fear and gets into trouble. I think the worst thing with him is that he eats everything food and non-food! He has chewed electrical cords, completely eats his cat toys, chews up shoelaces in shoes and more, the guy should be happy he is still alive, worse than a puppy! Mom says that she
thinks Boo lives in through him with the exception that Boo only ate food items. Bert and Sophie are both great cats even though Sophie does not particularly like us dogs. They are happy to have found a home as adult cats and a pretty good home at that. We spoil them rotten and they have mom wrapped around their little kitty paws most of the time. Katie is not real into the cats but Bert and I enjoy having fun together, sometimes I guess I get a bit rough with him, but he is not afraid to let me know when that happens. Sometimes we just start a wrestling match and jump at each other, play chase and tackle and he keeps after me so I know he is ok with it, he hates to lose I think!
That is our Monday Mischief wrapped up into a happy sad day with cats.
This is part of the Monday Mischief Blog Hop, make sure and check out other blogs on the hop!
Awwwe! What a great tribute to Boo. It’s so hard to lose a furry loved one. Boo sounds like she was a wonderful kitty. I’m so glad your Momma found Bert and Sophie. 🙂
She was a super fun cat, sad she died so young.
Boos sounds like a great kitty. I guess you have your hands full with Bert and Sophie…lol.
Sophie is like not even here, but Bert – he is more than 4 paws full!
So sad about boo but so pleased that all you guys are rescues. That is simply great!
Mom has always had rescue cats and I am sure she always will 🙂
Awww, Boo looked like a great kitty. Your new family looks happy and wonderful too.
She was really a special cat but life is all about change so we have adjusted.
I’m sorry to hear about Boo, she seemed like a pretty cool cat. But, I’m glad you have some other kitty friends to play with. Do you really body slam Bert?
He jumps on me, so I jump back on him, we wrestle and stuff too, he is more of a dog 😉
Awwwwe…Boo sounds like he was a great cat. We had a kitty that loved to lay on our Shiloh and she even tried to feed off our Shiloh. It was the strangest thing! They were the best of friends. Your new cat siblings are beautiful! They are so lucky that your mom brought them home to live with you!
Lovely tribute to Boo xxx
Thank you 🙂
Lovely way to remember Boo. Definitely a happy sad day. Days like this we all have to go through.
Since I am a happy dog, I don’t stay sad for long but I do keep Boo in my mind.
Hey Emma, Jet here.
What a special tribute to Boo. Mom believes that former fur family members send another fur family member who will show some of the same characteristics so you can keep your lost loved one close to your heart. So glad Bert and Sophie share your forever home with you and Katie…
Reminds us of Koko/me & Puffy and Fluffy

Now, just Puff. 🙁
Bert definitely has a lot of Boo in him, I think your mom is correct!
Awww, I’m sorry to read about Boo. She sounds like she was a wonderful kitty and a very special part of your family:) Wonderful tribute to her.
What a beautiful post – I’m sure Boo would love it – what an awesome Cat – and I think it’s so sweet that your Mom got 2 new Cats on the anniversary 🙂
It’s cool that you have Cats to play with, it must be a riot in your house! 🙂
Wags to all
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Emma, Thanks for stopping by my blog this week! I really like your blog too! However, while I’m happy about your new cat, Bert, I’m sorry about Boo. Hope November is a happy and fun-filled month for us dogs-living-with-cats!
