It all started off innocently enough with dreams of a nice snowstorm and then we actually went from zero to snow! Mom and us dogs have been getting a bit depressed due to the lack of white stuff, snow. Last year was a real dud with warm weather and barely a flake of snow, so we were really hoping for a great winter this year but it was December 8th and the grass was still showing. We had a small one inch teaser the other day but we want a good storm, a real snowstorm complete with shoveling, snow clumps in the paw pads, you know the whole
snowstorm deal!
The weather people said we might get some snow Saturday night but it would be mostly north of the cities meaning we may get an couple inches at best since we are south of the cities – our depression kept on going…we wanted winter! Saturday morning they said the storm was shifting south a bit so we might get four inches or so and it would all be over by noon on Sunday. Four inches is nothing to howl about but we will
take it.
We went to bed, woke up Sunday morning and Katie, mom and I were devastated! Only about two inches of snow and it was not even still snowing, talk about a major bummer! We headed out for our Sunday walk which takes us past a church where we paused to cross our paws and say a short prayer for some more snow. Low and behold, a few minutes later it started to snow, big flakes and tons of them. When we
got home they said on the news it would snow all day and we would get as much as eight inches – I howled in happiness!!! The day went on, mom shoveled, then mom shoveled again, then she shoveled again and then they said it would snow all night too! We are going to have about fifteen inches of the white stuff when it is finished! Katie and I were barking with excitement and mom was just thrilled too!
I love snow but this stuff is rather wet so I
get snowballs all over my fur starting with my paws – mom calls them my snowshoes! Now that it is so deep, Katie and I have to make trails around the yard by trampling down the snow, we do that every year. Right now I have to hop like a wabbit because it is deep past my little belly but I don’t mind, hop, hop, hop.
A miracle also happened. Mom has had serious back pain for about 2 weeks because of wearing a walking boot for a month. By
doing all the shoveling she somehow got her back into shape and it no longer hurts but she says her arm muscles are sore…wonder why??? Don’t feel sorry for her, though, she likes to shovel for the exercise and to be out in the snow.
I sure hope the weather stays cold now until March and maybe we can get some more snow – I feel you can never have enough of the stuff! Bring on more winter!
This blog is part of the Monday Mischief Blog Hop sponsored by Snoopy’s Dogblog, join in the fun!
I’m so jealous of your lovely snow! Ours disappeared pretty quickly:-(
Hope you get some more!
Oh nice! We are having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit due to the hot temperatures here – we are still in shorts!
Sam
Oh, not good, we like cold and snow this time of year!
We got a little snow too. But Torrey is the only one that likes it.
We all love it – something different 🙂
Emma you are a brave dawg indeed…I has never seen snow but it looks awfully cold…and you not even wearing a coat (cept yur own of course) but it must be fun cause you look very very happy out there *snoogles*
We didn’t get much snow last winter, and Leah especially missed it. She LOVES snow. Toby likes it, and Meadow can do without all that white cold stuff. 🙂 Glad your mom’s back is feeling better, even if her arms are a bit sore.
Hope you get some decent snow this year 🙂 It is so fun for us doggies!
Look at all the snow! We have yet to see any here in Wichita, KS just yet. Enjoy it!
We are totally enjoying it and now the sun is out and it is beautiful!
Oh what beautiful snow! I have to say I am mighty jealous. I moved from the snowy midwest to North Carolina and have yet to see snow here:( Happy Mischief in the snow to you!!
Oh that would make us sad not having snow 🙁
Luckily you have some black spots, but it looks like it would be easy to lose katie in the snow!
Mom said when she was a puppy it was a problem but luckily she has a black nose and brown eyes 🙂
Woof! Woof! Oh Believe it or not I miss SNOW. Mom promised me that I get to see again. Happy MM. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
We missed it last year even though we had a little, we like a heavy winter 😉
We don’t have snow yet either! BTW…Mom noticed you look a bit like me, but I’m a Goldendoodle. We’re both adorable 🙂
Yep, my face and facial fur/hair looks a lot like you wild doodles 😉
We are still waiting for some good snow… it’s raining here in NH again today! Thanks for stopping by – please come again! Woof!
Thanks for coming over, bummer with the rain – we are so happy to have snow 🙂
WOW! I’m so jealous. We didn’t get one little flake. Just very a cold front. The chickens and ducks hate having their water frozen over, but I’m looking forward to the white stuff! Congrats!
Thanks – it’s looking like holiday time around here 🙂
We are so jealous,we have been waiting for so long for snow for Kirby. The most we got was somE hard hail, which just sorta- FREAKED HIM OUT!LOL
I hope you get some snow soon, we were waiting as well and now we are set!
We got some snow over the weekend, but you sure got a pile of it! Actually we were at our cabin and when it started to snow on Sunday we beat it out of there quick because we did not want to get stuck driving home in it…lol.
Driving in it is no good but we were just home enjoying it all day 🙂
Oh Emma! We are so jealous of all the snow you got! We still have nothing!
Glad your Mom’s back is feeling better!
You Newfs would just love it!
Yay for your Mum’s back being better!! And I’m beyond jealous of all your snow, I’ve never even so much as a flake, can you believe that?!
Big sigh,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
That is a bummer you don’t get snow, but that is what happens when you live in a warmer climate I guess.
Hey Emma, Hey Katie, Jet here.
Yippee yahoo, glad you got the white stuff you wanted. You look so happy in the photos. Glad Mom’s feeling better, too. I’ve never seen the white stuff, living in the tropics and all. However, today was like 84 will full on summer humidity and a guy with gorgeous black fur such as myself would probably frolic full on in the white stuff.
I am sure you would have a total blast. Maybe you will vacation in the snow some day 😉
oooh. that’s a great plan!
Oh wow! That is awesome! We want some of that white stuff! We had a really warm winter last year too and we are ready for some snow!
So glad her back is better! My dog can’t wait for some snow–of course, he’s part Newfie and all mischief!
A newfie definitely needs a cold snowy winter!
What a great snow we had just a few flakes after 3 days of rain. Just think of the snow we could have had if it was cold, but Sunday was 60. By Monday night it was 25 but no more wet precipitation. It’s freezing and dry now so hopefully we will get some snow by Christmas! Have fun for us 🙂
I will concentrate hard on you getting snow – you need some this time of year!
Thank you Emma we would really love to have snow its one of our favorites 🙂
I’m not a snow fan… so if we get any, I’ll make sure to send it your way! Hehe.
Please do, we love winter so much!
I love the new shoes!!
Snow shoes…every winter dog needs a set 😉
