I decided I should finally interview my cat Sophie. She really does not like dogs and she is pretty boring spending most of her time just hanging out looking gorgeous. I am like her least favorite living creature so I decided to go hang out with her in the guestroom on the guest bed where she spends most of her time in isolation in her cat cuddle bed. To my surprise, she did not race away and actually agreed to let me interview her – up close and personal!
Emma: Hi Sophie, how are you doing?
Sophie: I am in the middle of my afternoon nap, Emma, can you just get to the point, please. (big yawn)
Emma: Why do you like to be in the guestroom all by yourself most of the time, don’t you get bored and lonely?
Sophie: Well, Emma, I am a cat and cats are kind of loners by nature. I like it here because it is quiet, no one really comes upstairs during the day so my sleep in not interrupted much. Plus you dogs aren’t allowed on the furniture…ahem…
Emma: Why don’t you like Katie and I, we are your dog siblings you know. Woof!
Sophie: You just answered your own question, you are dogs, smelly, weird, loud animals. I don’t want to be messed up with such creatures.
Emma: But Bert likes us and hangs out with us dogs too sometimes and he is a cat.
Sophie: He is a male cat with an identification problem, I don’t like to hang around with him either. (Grrr)
Emma: Who do you like then?
Sophie: I don’t mind mom most of the time, we have some good times together but she is really the only one.
Emma: Aren’t you bored since you have no one to play with?
Sophie: No, I need my 20+ hours a day of beauty rest which takes up most of my time. (purr)
Sophie: Emma, can I ask you something?
Emma: Sure.
Sophie: Why do you chase me sometimes, that is really scary.
Emma: It is fun because you are so scared and I feel like I am hunting but I try not to chase you because it gets me in lots of trouble.
Emma: Back to you. If you would just relax around us dogs we would not be so tempted to chase you, you know.
Sophie: Sorry, I just can’t imagine hanging around with some panting, smelly, shaggy thing like you. (hiss)
Emma: So, there is really no chance of us being friends then?
Sophie: Yawn…no, I don’t think so. I don’t need dogs in my life and right now what I need is to get back to my nap. Can you get out of here as you might leave dog scent here and I would not like that at all.
Emma: Fine, you just continue on with your beauty nap and lonely, boring life. I am going downstairs to have some fun and enjoy my life! Arrrrooooo!!!
Sophie: Can you please be quiet, I am trying to get some rest you know…hiss…
Welcome to Monday Mischief – The pet blog hop that wraps up the weekend! This Blog Hop is brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies and Luna, A Dog’s Life
LOL! Now that is the best interview I had read in awhile Emma! If you can interview a cat I think you can interview just about anyone!
Thanks, especially the cat that does not like me at all!
I don’t think I’ll ever understand cats BOL
It is pretty much impossible from what I can tell.
Sophie!! C’mon my furiend! This is Dakota’s brother, Cody and I am a CAT! Guess what? I LOVE DOGGIES!! They aren’t so bad! Maybe you should give yours another chance? And…guess what? I’m NOT a “loner” I LOVE PEOPLE!! Love, Cody
You sound like my cat bro Bert, he loves us, thinks he is a dog. Thanks for the advice, I will pass it on to Sophie!
Wow, I’m surprised you got that much of an interview considering how much Sophie doesn’t like dogs… or anyone other than your Mom for that matter!
Well I had to be quick and catch her in the right moment!
You tried Emma,
I’m impressed you got that close to Sophie and got her to chat to you! Don’t worry, I don’t understand Cats either, but I’d still like one as a play mate! 🙂
Wags to all,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Get one like my cat bro Bert, he is more fun!
LOL, and there you have the perfect insight into the kitty mind.
Pretty dismal isn’t it 😉
That was a wonderful interview, you are very lucky that Sophie did not attempt to hurt you. Besides being loners like are really quite unstable you know. Sometimes they just jump and scratch for no apparent reason. 😉
Sophie is too scared of me to do anything, but my cat bro Bert I have to watch out for, he has no fear of dogs!
Hey it’s Badger Boo here, young Sophie thinks she’s a bit special, thanks for interviewing her so I now knows why the pesky cats are always mean too me x
Sophie thinks she is the queen bee in the house, that is why I have to chase her sometimes to show her who the boss really is.
Ohmy gosh, Sophie with you is just like our Rascal with Kirby. Maybe we should set them up, see if that makes them any nicer to you and Kirby. Love the hat Emma!
Pawsome Idea!
Emma you tried your best to make friends…not your fault she’ such a snob
Cats, can’t figure them out at all!
Your sister is not that nice to you. You should roll around her bed!!!
Awww…chasing her around the house sometimes is much more fun because she is so scared of me 🙂
That was funny! I have 2 cat sisters. Kaitlyn is my furiend but Chelsea is mean an has made me cry a time or two.
Funny how different cats can be!
Great interview with Sophie especially since she doesn’t like you. Minx actually likes Mica she will lay next to her on the other side of the gate. Mica likes to just look at her but then she gives Minx a big kiss (YUCK). Lexie barks at Minx and chases her up the steps where Lexie in not allowed. So we have a half friendship 😉
Well, my cat bro Bert and I have fun together so I have that friendship at least.
Woof! Woof! Great one! Golden Laughs! Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Thanks, Sugar!
*giggles*
😉
Bwahaha sounds about right for a cat!
the brown dawgs
If you guys don’t have a cat maybe you should get one…they would be fun to practice hunting on.
Hey Emma, Jet here. Hi Katie.
Well at least you have a better understanding of Sophie… Puffy was kind of like that, while Fluffy was more like Bert.
Well, us dogs are all different and so are the kitties, unfortunately, many of them just don’t like us dogs!
Poor Sophie, being tormented by the presence of dogs. Emma, Emma, Emma …
Oh it is good for her to see something different, that cat is sooo boring!
Sophie is just the funniest cat ever. Emma, you should try to leave her alone more… Poor girl, but I like chasing my cat sister too. Hehe.
No poor girl for Sophie, she is just fine but extremely boring and egoistic I think!
Poor Emma, having your friendship request declined by Sophie. I do understand how Sophie feels though – my poor lost cat Jangles feels exactly the same way about dogs.
I think more cats feel that way than ones that like us dogs, just the way it is ;(
My biggest problem with Chester and cats is when they run too. He’s just nosy until then and only goes into hunt mode when they run. I was trying to get my elderly cat and Chester used to being around each other (the cat recently moved into our house….long story). I was making progress until I realized Chester is fine, it’s the cat that will always attack Chester if he gets too close…..then it’s game on. *sigh*
My cat Bert and I play, wrestle and fight but he will never back down, I think he doesn’t know he is a cat.
Loved your interview! You’ve nailed the attitude of most of the cats that have ever lived in this household. 🙂
Thank you, sorry your cats are like Sophie, Bert is much more fun!
We want a cat! We would chase it and torment it…wouldn’t that be fun! But, we would probably get in lots of trouble so it’s probably best that we don’t have a cat at our house! Loved your interview:)
Cats get me in lots of trouble, my sister is much better with them than I am but they are part of the family and we love them both.
Emma, you are a pawsome journalist. Gwennie says if you can make a cat interview interesting, you can do anything! Keep up the good work! Love, Gwennie and Mommy
Thank you so much, I put my best paw forward 🙂
