Ladies and Gentlemen, today is the home opener for the Minnesota Twins baseball team. We are playing the Detroit Tigers, I know I have lots of friends in Michigan, so no hard feelings, but I am rooting for the Twins! I have to say my favorite sport is football because it is just like what I like to play at home, chase and wrestle with the only difference being that I get nothing but entertainment for playing and football players get lots and lots of money for playing. The other sport I like is baseball because of the ball, I love to chase dogs that have a ball, so baseball is kind of like that.
We have a fairly new stadium for our Twins baseball team, Target Field, which is is also an outdoor stadium. Luckily, the ground is heated as there will still be snow around for the opener this year. The record low for opening day was set in 1962 with 34 degrees and this year we have a shot at breaking that record – we would rather not but what can we do. I am not sure that an outdoor stadium is the right choice for Minnesota but I do hear that when the weather is nice it is a wonderful place. As always in this country, NO DOGS ALLOWED is their policy so
I have not been there myself.
I have seen photos and mom has actually been to the stadium. We have some very famous players that have fancy statues outside of the stadium…I decided to sneak myself into some photos to get a better look! Did you see me???
The baseball season is long and hard, so I won’t be posting about it unless something big happens. The Twins are a Minnesota team, so chances are we will be holding up last place once again this year, but being an optimist I am hoping for a good team. Gramma still has her Homer Hankies from the World Series winners back in 1987 and 1991. Sure would be fun to have a winning team for once. Remember to enlarge the photos just click on them.
For now, Play Ball, and stay warm out there – the forecast is for high temps around freezing so the fans will need to be all bundled up! This post is no April Fool!
Welcome to Monday Mischief – The pet blog hop that wraps up the weekend! This Blog Hop is brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies and Luna, A Dog’s Life
HA!!! You are playing MY TEAM!!! I am in Michigan and live 34 miles north of Detroit. It’s gonna be a COLD ONE! Don’t tell, but my Mom is really a CLEVELAND INDIANS fan because she lived in Cleveland for 35 years! Barks and licks and love, Dakota
Mom lived in Belleville by the airport for a year but liked Ann Arbor, she was a flight attendant back then and went to some Tigers games. I know I have lots of pals in MI but honestly, the Indians have to be my enemies too as a Twins fan…no worries, Twins will stink again!
Our favorite is football, too. We like baseball, though. We watched the Astros game last night with Dad. We are waiting for the Red Sox to start. We have sports fleece to lay on while we watch the games.
Nice, but today at the stadium you would need down coats! The Red Sox beat my Twins in Fort Myers over the weekend, oh well, it is only a silly game!
Play BALL! Our Cubs open in Pittsburgh today! (White Sox open here in Chicago, but we aren’t WS fans!) Happy April Fool’s Day!
Good, the White Sox and Twins are big rivals! Good luck to your team!
We love baseball season! Best of luck to your team this year Emma!
Thanks!
You look soooooo cute in your uniform, let’s play ball!
Ok, come on over but wear something warm, it is only 17 this morning, Fahrenheit!
We aren’t much into ball playing, well Torrey chases her tennis ball. Did you get the beer?
No, did not have the correct id…evidently a dog license does not count 🙁
We love baseball season!!! *paws crossed* it is a season filled with excitement. BOL
Hopefully but with my Twins, it is hard to be optimistic!
You make quite the fan! Do the Twins have a dog day? In Chicago, the White Sox host pups once a year for a parade around the infeild and a game. Eko got to go last year and had a blast.
No dog day at the new stadium but our second league team, the St. Paul Saints have a dog day where we are allowed to go to the game.
I hope the peeps who attend have hand and foot warmers, that’s really cold for baseball. I think it stinks that dogs aren’t allowed. 🙁
What better way to stay warm than with a dog on your lap, but NO, dogs not allowed 🙁
I know nothing about baseball, but you look super cute!
Thanks…it is not really a sport in your country 🙂
Oh my dog! Made me laugh out loud, seeing you peeking out of those photos!
Good! That was what I was after being the funny dog that I am 🙂
We love baseball but we are going to have to root for the Detroit Tigers! Sorry! One of human bros teammates from college plays for the Tigers so naturally we root for them! We are a huge baseball family and are so excited for baseball to get started!
That’s ok, mom used to go to Tigers games when she lived in Michigan…it is just a game 😉
Do they ever have Dog Day at your stadium Emma? Some down here do and it’s always fun..I wish your team well, but since Detroit trains right here in Lakeland (about 3 miles from my house) I gotta root fur them
That’s ok, the Twins are never any good anyway. They don’t have a dog day but our second league team does 🙂
Freezing temperatures, yikes – I don’t know how you all cope?
I think it’s silly you’re not allowed in the stadium, you’d make a great mascot!! 🙂
Wags to all
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Just goes to show you how dumb that team is not allowing dogs!
You look so cute in your uniform! When we go to the AAA games here it’s usually warm; I don’t think I’d last 9 innings in that kind of cold!
I would last fine, but the humans may have some issues 🙂
Emma, you look great in your uniform! I like baseball a little bit, I used to follow it more when I was younger. My dogs agree with you, that sports with balls are the best! We are in New England, so it’s Red Sox or Yankees over here. My family is lifelong Red Sox fans, so I stick with them too. And they even won today! 🙂
And you guys beat my Twins over the weekend in the Grapefruit League…but that’s ok.
Cold opening day. They are going to need the heated field. I see the game is still going. Wonder who will win?
Most likely the Tigers…sad but true 🙂
Ain’t over til its over. 🙂
We had our opening day today it was cold for Baseball 42F but we didn’t get the rain. Mom is a Cincinnati Reds fan, they were the first baseball team (the Redlegs). She use to go to their game back when they won the World Series several times. They have a dog day too! Good luck Emma but were going for the Reds:-)
These pictures are so adorable! I have never watched baseball before, but I still think you look furry cute in these pictures! XO
I have seen some kids play in person, but nothing professional.
Gosh, no dog day?! Astros have a dog day…might need to cheer them on instead Ha ha ha!
I have to go to a second league game if I want a dog day, maybe we will this year???
