My mom was a naughty mommy with her mom’s trickery last week. She said, “come on, Emma, let’s go run some errands”. I was all over that! A car ride, hanging out with mom, who knows where we might get to go!
It was clear to me almost immediately, yet to late, that this was not going to be what she said. I was going alone with her which is normally not a good thing unless it is a photo shoot but then mom is in a great mood and tells me it is a photo shoot. Katie was staying home and just I was going with mom, all alone, which usually means groomer, vet or getting my ears plucked. Oh dear!
Mom had tricked me into getting into the car but then she tricked me again. We were just riding around and she was running errands like the bank drive through, dropping off something at the office and then just as I was feeling pretty good about this ride thing we parked and we were at the place to get my ears plucked. You would be amazed at how small I can become and how tightly I can squeeze myself into the corner in the back of the car. I will not get up, I will not get out and I most certainly will not walk myself into the torture chamber. Mom managed to get me out of my seat belt and then she carried me in as I flat out refuse to walk, I am not stupid. It is not easy for me, so why make it easy for mom? People laugh because she is carrying me but I don’t see any humor as I know what is going to happen. I did pretty well this time, did not cry much and it is all over in a few minutes but as my Gramma tells me, I am a serious Drama Queen and I play it up good!

As always, I got to go shopping at PetCo after my ears were done. We had to buy more food for Katie but Pro Plan redesigned their packages and mom couldn’t figure out which bag we needed so I stood over by the correct bag and showed her what Katie eats.
These smell great! I wonder if anyone would notice if I just take one?
I sniffed out some great chew items and was thinking about just taking one for all my troubles but then I decided I didn’t want to go to jail for pawlifting, so I just sniffed some more and then I helped mom pick out some snacks for us at home.
Smart Pup Snacks? Sounds like they were made for me!
They had a nice display of Twins items but mom said I have enough baseball gear and since the Twins usually stink we don’t want to waste our money on that stuff right now. I agreed, more snacks would be a much better idea. I will still be a Twins fans but they need to win a bit more!

You may notice my hair looks kind of funny – well, when I get my ears done they feel weird inside for a few hours and I shake my head a lot, so my hair tends to stand on end.
Mom won the mischief award this week even though I call it unfair. At least I (my ears) are safe for another 8 weeks or so!

You always look lovely Emma but what do they pluck from your beautiful ears? I hope it doesn’t hurt you. When I jump in the car to surprise Momz I make myself into a ball on the back seat so she can’t see me and I get to go with her…It doesn’t work, but I keep trying
I have excess ear hair deep in my ear canals and the canals are thinner than normal, so it has to be pulled out…it hurts 🙁

When my Mum and Dad got me they were told they’d have to pluck my ears too, but the vet said he didn’t recommend it, so luckily for me they haven’t and also luckily so far he’s been right as I haven’t had an ear infection – yay!! 🙂

Emma, your sister doesn’t lick your ears? Flash and Patches lick each others’ ears and they stay clean. Maybe your mama will lick your ears for you if you ask nicely.
I like to keep mom away from my ears as it ends up being a trip to get them plucked or that ear cleaner goes in…mom is trouble with my ears!

I have never been a real chewer 🙁 Even as a pup I didn’t ruin anything but the throw rug by the front door. She means well, but I don’t like it!
Ash does the same thing when she goes to the vet! She makes it really hard for mommy and mommy has to pull and push her to get her into the vet’s! We sure are lucky that we don’t have to do that to our ears! That sounds painful!!!!!
I go to the vet ok, I am scared but I walk in, just my ears I can’t handle…make it rough on mom.
Bu…bu… but… they have toys?!? Why no toys! The torture you had to endure must have been a painful ordeal. LOL. Sorry I haven’t dropped by for a while. ^_^

Not real keen on the mani/pedi thing…kind of goes along with grooming and I like the natural, shaggy look but shopping and eating are right up my alley 🙂
OMG Emma, that sounds terribly painful, I’m so sorry you have to do that! Can’t they just trim the inside of your ears?
No, I have too much hair that grows fast deep in the ear canal…it only takes a few minutes but I let the world know how I feel about it. Mom feels bad but it has to be done she says. Believe me, we have looked for alternatives…inner ear laser hair removal might work but we haven’t ever heard of it being done.
We at least that is over, but you are always Earresistable!

Boy Emma…that WAS sneaky of her. But glad the rest of the day was fine. And good thing you were there to tell your mom what Katie eats, and to pick out the bestest snacks in the store! Smart move not shop lifting, or wasting your money on clothes and stuff. Clothes are overrated.
Although, if your mom wasted money on clothes, she’d have less of it to get your ears plucked….

My Malarky has to get her ears plucked too. But unfortunately for her, I used to be a groomer so she gets it done at home and doesn’t get to go on a fun shopping trip afterward.

Mine are too bad to do at home but if you were a groomer then you might be able to do it, they usually need 2 people for me 🙁

I feel you pain about ear plucking. I was hand stripped all over regularly when I was a show dog. I hated it, it hurts!!!
Now I’m retired from showing I gets clipped, but mummy still insists on plucking my face, she won’t clip it cos it will go fluffy like the rest of me has gone. Who cares I say. Luckily she clips inside my ears now instead of plucking and uses that horrid cleaner you squirts in.
Hope you chose Expensive treats to make your mummy pay for your pain.

I get my coat stripped but mom does a little bit each day so it is not so bad and she is pretty gentle, just my ears are a big deal and I get that awful cleaner once a month too. I did get some good treats 🙂 Glad your show days are done and you can relax.
