The end of June I won a $25 gift card from Best Elk Antlers on Dachshund Nola’s blog. We have heard a lot about antlers but honestly, Mom had no idea how they would be for us dogs. They are also not cheap, so Mom did not want to order them, only to find out we don’t like them. This was the perfect chance to finally try out some antlers!
Mom and I went to the website to order and were amazed. You don’t just say, “two antlers, please”. There are all kinds of antler items, and for all sizes of dogs too! Woofers, they even have rope toys with an antler built in! It was overwhelming for me, and I started drooling on the keyboard so I left the ordering up to Mom. She finally made the executive decision to order a large and a medium split elk antler. She thought the split antler would be a good choice because we could find the “meat” right off the bat and would not be frustrated. Delivery time should be 5-8 days. We started waiting.
Wow! After just 3 days my antler package arrived – that is a +1 for fast shipping! Mom opened the envelope and I took off with the bag holding the antlers. It smelled good and I wanted in! Of course, I did not get far before the bag was taken away from me…grrr…
That evening Mom got the antlers out and gave Katie and me each our own to try. Before I go further, you need to know that Katie munches down all chews in about one minute and then tries to steal mine because I like to take my time and actually enjoy my chew. We started sniffin’, lickin’ and then munchin’. This went on for an entire hour at which point, my sister, the speed chewer, actually got up and left her antler. I think she was in a state of shock as she could not munch that antler down! I kept gnawing a bit longer, then Mom took them both and put them away for the night. It was crazy, they barely showed any signs of being chewed on after an entire hour!
So, what do we have to say about Best Elk Antlers?
What we like:
- They will last me and even my Kuvasz sister for a very long time
- They were not at all smelly
- They are not greasy
- They are a product of the USA and are made ONLY from antlers elk have shed, no elk are harmed
- There are no additives or preservatives
- They are rich in nutrients
What we did not like:
- They are expensive but since they will last a long time that is not really a negative
- The first time ordering is a bit overwhelming with all the options and sizes if you aren’t familiar with antlers
From the look on my face and my tongue position, you should be able to tell I give these antlers four paws up! Remember – don’t leave us dogs unattended with antlers just in case they should splinter or if you have more than one dog, you don’t want any fighting.

We received these antlers for free from a gift card we won in a giveaway. We were not asked by Best Elk Antlers to write a review and are not receiving any compensation for this review. We are only reviewing these antlers because Emma really likes them.

chomp, chomp, chomp…
Looks droolingly delicious! We will have to check out this site!
They are good and they last forever!
I only get antlers in the fall so when I had mine last week it was a TREAT! Mom got the medium and it was big. Took me days to finished it. It cleaned my teeth …. how about you? Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
I got a medium and Katie a large. Katie is getting frustrated because it takes so long but I am enjoying mine. We only get them for a time in the evenings, so I still have over half to go on mine but I love it!
We have never had antlers!! They look so tasty!!! Following from the blog hop!
Thanks for stopping by. It is our first and I think there will be more in the future.
WeeeeeeeeOooooooo, you were sure having a yummy good time!
And I still am when Mom gets them out at night!
Glad you enjoyed the antlers, after you figured out which ones to choose! My mom has them for her two dogs, and my dogs have been sampling them when they visit. They agree with your review…definitely four paws! 🙂
It would be better if I was an only dog so I could just work on it at my leisure but it is fine this way. Mom just takes them away after a time and we get them again the next night.
Emma, I am so glad you like the antlers. I tried one once and just wasn’t interested. The darn thing is still around but I won’t touch it.

They are a lot of work but I do like mine a lot. Katie is a bit frustrated but still gnawing away.
Antlers are the best, Eko has one that is still going strong after over a year! Antlers may seem expensive but they are definitely worth every penny.
I think you are right. We just did not want to invest if we did not like them but now we know. Yummy!
Oh my dog! I’ve seen those at different shows and have wondered what dogs think. Amazing! They’re long chewing, like a hoof, but not smelly and slimy? That rocks. Thanks for the heads up!
Very long chewing and a lot of work…one hour is about all we can handle! No smell, no slime, no mess at all 🙂 I do prefer some wabbit jerky, though!
You look like you’re in heaven in that bottom right photo Emma…I keep my antler in bed as my nighttime nommy toy…Keeps me busy when Momz is sleeping 🙂
Oh no, in my bed I just sleep and I can’t leave something that important lying around or my sister will steal it. Not being an only dog can be tough sometimes!
Yea! I’m glad you an Katie like antlers. That is one chew I don’t care for. I think they must be too hard. Great review especially the pictures!
Thanks. My sister is a master chewer and I enjoy gnawing forever so they work well.
I’m glad you like em!
Nola
Munch, chew, munch… 🙂
Emma, looks like Jack is going to be getting some elk antlers…they look great.
I bet he will love them…they are a huge project and I bet they are fairly low cal since you chew forever and don’t get much 😉
Hi Emma, this is Matilda the greyhound. I’m going to ask my mom to get me some elk antlers. Since I was sick, but now I’m better, she gets me anything I want!!!
I would order one split antler to start. They last a very long time and the split ones are great for us beginners because the marrow is exposed so you know what you are chewing for. So glad you are doing better, that is wonderful news!
Wow they look almost as tasty as a wagg treat! http://www.waggfoods.com/content/UK/dog-product-tab-treats
Thanks for the link that made me drool on the keyboard! Yummy, but aren’t you in the UK or do they sell in the US too?
Antlers are a big hit over here. They pretty much saved our cabinets when Freighter was teething. He is an aggressive chewer so no other chew toy would last. However, we now have had to take them away because all the dogs do not want to give them up once they have them and they want to fight over them. I guess they are high value….lol.
We only have them now and then for a limited time as we would probably fight over them too. Multi dog homes can be challenging when it comes to treasures like an elk antler!
I haven’t tried them yet, but I could tell my biped was impressed when she saw Katie hadn’t made much impression on it after an hour. I think my chances of getting one have improved!
I bet you would love it. Katie did get frustrated after an hour of chewing and not being able to “kill it”!
I gave these to my dogs once and Delilah chewed so enthusiastically I had to take it away because she made her gums bleed. I’ve been hesitant to give it back!
Glad you enjoyed them Emma!!
Sometimes that happens with my sister too, but that also happens when she chews a tennis ball, we just let her chew.
Shiner has still not tried any antlers yet. She also scarfs down her chews super fast, so I am a little reluctant to give her one.
Believe me, if my 80 lb Kuvasz sister can’t make much of a dent in an hour, I doubt any dog can. She wolfs down a bully stick or other chew in about 2 minutes. Finally something to make her work a bit!
Aren’t they great. I have 2 and I still gnaw they regularly. Glad you liked yours toi:-)
I think they may actually last a lifetime!
