I had many requests for me to post the answer to my Wordless Wednesday “Where the Peanuts is Emma?” on my blog so I did and I also added some good Peanuts trivia! Here is a view of me at the front of the house.
If you know any Swedish, you will see the “Welcome” in Swedish on the front door. In the reflections, you can see some parts of a large building and parking ramps, if you look at the photo from yesterday, Snoopy is wearing clogs and Scandinavian gear…so where am I??? Deidre’s K9 Naturals came close, tweeting me a photo of a Swedish horse! Maria at Plexidor suggested IKEA but not which one. I am at the entrance to the IKEA Store at the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN. Even many folks from the Twin Cities have not noticed this dog house standing here. Now maybe Snoopy will get some better recognition!
Did you know Peanuts cartoon creator Charles Schulz was born and raised in Saint Paul, and lived in Minneapolis before moving to northern California. Starting in 2000, in a tribute to Schulz’s characters, 101 five-foot-tall Snoopy statues were placed throughout St. Paul, they called it Peanuts on Parade. I was totally impressed that my friend, Sugar, came real close to knowing this story! Shortly after, in 2001, more statues were displayed at the Mall of America for a summer exhibit called Charlie Brown Around Town. There were three more exhibits held at the Mall of America – in 2002: Looking for Lucy, in 2003: Linus Blankets St. Paul, in 2004: DogHouse Days of Summer. The statues were all auctioned off at the end of each summer but about 20% of them can still be found throughout the Twin Cities.
Originally, there were:
- · 101 Snoopy
- · 103 Charlie Brown
- · 109 Lucy
- · 91 Linus
- · 104 Snoopy Dog House
Maybe I will find some more and just keep on posting fun Snoopy pics 🙂
Have you noticed the change on the top of my sidebar – I finally have my very own logo!!! Yay! I am a silly, French Scent Hound, so I think it reflects me perfectly. I like to help out local friends and businesses, so I had Debbie at GloGirly Design, who is also in the Twin Cities, create it for me. She has never met me but I had Mom tell her what I wanted and she nailed it on the first try, just a small tweak and it was born! What do you think, is it me??? Woof!
One last note, I did not win the trip to BarkWorld, but I put my best paw forward and at least I tried. Thank you so much to all of you for supporting me and for helping me share my post. There is still one partial sponsorship open, but with so many entries, I am not holding my dog breath. Life goes on, and I can focus on making it to BlogPaws in Vegas next May instead.
Today I am joining 2 Brown Dawgs in the This ‘n That Thursday Blog Hop.
I am sorry to hear that you did not win, when I heard the Garth had won I shot across here hoping it would be good news from you too! Sending a hug (which is almost the same as winning?!)
Thank you, but it is ok. It was a long shot.
Thanks so much for participating in TNT!
That house is really cool. We have never been to an Ikea. The one around here is pretty far away and of course we never have time. 🙂 Maybe some day.
I did notice your new logo and thought it was pretty darn cool. Sorry about BarkWorld. 🙁
We love having IKEA nearby. Don’t go there often but it is nice to know it is there.
Love my new logo and with BarkWorld, that is okay, it was a whim, would have been great but not meant to be 🙂
Love the new Logo Emma, we use to watch Charlie Brown all the time, we still have an old dvd 🙂 xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
I love Snoopy, I’m not a Beagle but I think we look similar anyway!
love the peanuts trivia! Do you know that when I was 8 Charles Schultz wrote me a letter? I had written to him asking if he wanted an “assistant” ( I used to voraciously draw his characters and I drew them and sent them to him) he was kind enough to reply that when I grow up to contact him!
Love the new logo!
That is so cool! I hope you saved that letter!
Boy! lots of news today! So sorry you missed out on Barkworld. Maybe next year? I really like the new logo. I think it captures your essence quite nicely. And I would love to see more Snoopys! i love Snoopy!
Mom is planning some Snoopy photo tours, so stay tuned…most likely on Wordless Wednesdays.
We really like your new logo! It is really cute and we think it looks just like you and captures your personality perfectly! So sorry about BarkWorld. We were hoping you would get to go. Mom is wanting to go to BlogPaws next year in Vegas. But it falls on our hu sis’ birthday, so we just don’t know if mom can make it happen or not:( And mom is going to have to figure out a way to make some money if she wants to go! Have a great Thursday!
What’s up with that human money fixation??? My mom says that we need to save up for BlogPaws and we can’t go to BarkWorld unless we are sponsored. Money is only a piece of paper really! Hope you can make BlogPaws, we are hoping to drive so I can go too. I love my logo too 🙂
I love IKEA! I’ve never been to MN, but if I’m out driving and see an IKEA I have to stop. I spend more money in the Swedish food court than I do on furniture, haha! =D
I’m sorry you’re not coming to BarkWorld, I would have liked to see you there. Maybe you can get some other company to sponsor you? You had some cool ideas, like the signs for your car.
=) Maria
PS Love your new logo!
Mom loves IKEA too and the food! BarkWorld was not in our plans until the contest came up but if it is not to be then that is okay. BlogPaws in Vegas, look out…Emma is coming!!! Glad you like the logo, we love it!
Love the new logo You are always so inspiring. This is for you – http://dogdaz.com/2013/07/18/7-18-13-thankful-thursday-very-inspiring-blogger-award/
Thank you, just went over and dug up the post 🙂
How cool is that? I did not know this!
We knew a bit about it but with all the questions yesterday, Mom dug up all the details.
I LOVE your new logo! It is SO YOU!!! Emma, you’re the cool but nerdy kid, huh? And thanks for telling the Snoopy story. The clogs really threw me for a loop.
It sure was fun reading all the ideas! The clogs were a major clue, you just never know with Snoopy! I love the logo too! GloGirly did such a great job and right away without even meeting me!
I love love the new logo! And cool facts about Snoopy and the gang.
Thanks, I love my logo too and I love Snoopy!
Cool logo, Emma! We have an IKEA here in Portland, but no cute Snoopy dog houses. 🙁
That’s a bummer about BarkWorld…
I think our IKEA has it because of that promotion here. We are going to hunt down some more fun Snoopys.
I love your logo, Emma!
Thank you! It is totally me 🙂
Ah, yes, Ikea, of course. Now i get it! Was thinking Holland cuz of Snoopy’s clogs, but they weren’t the right kind of clogs!
Love the new logo! So adorbs!
Love the logo too! I guess you need to get your clogs straight LOL! It was a good guessing game and no one nailed it completely, although, some came darn close.
I love the new logo Emma, it’s very Emma!
Sorry you didn’t win the trip to Barkworld, there is still the caption the photo contest though, have you seen that? It’s on facebook sponsored by Victoria Stillwell. let me know if you can’t find the link.
We really wanted the sponsorship and it was a last minute idea that came up. They still have one partial left to give away, but if I don’t win, that’s okay. This dog is heading off to Vegas in May, BlogPaws will be my next stop!
My guess yesterday was Sweden, due to the way Snoopy looked and the clogs he was wearing. But then I read Sugar’s comment about it being part of an exhibit in MN, and you confirmed that… so there went my Sweden. But I was half-right 😉
There was a similar exhibit in my city about ten years ago, called Penguins on Parade. It was part of a fundraiser for our zoo. There were over a hundred six-foot penguin statues painted with all kinds of colors and themes placed in different locations all over the city. There are not many left now, unfortunately. Some stolen, some vandalized, some demolished by cars, and many in storage.
If you find any more Peanuts exhibit statues, please do post pics!
I love your new logo and think it fits you perfectly! GloGirly did a great job capturing your personality!
Sorry about BarkWorld, but at least you can push forward with a goal for BlogPaws!
That photo was tricky, even Gramma that goes to that IKEA had never noticed it. It was fun to read the ideas. We are going to hunt down some more and post them on Wednesdays, I think. Bummer with BarkWorld, but life moves on and BlogPaws is the next stop!
Very cool (Snoopy)! Love your new logo! Sorry you didn’t win that trip to BarkWorld… you’d have been such a great attendee!
I know, they are missing out without Emma at the conference but I will survive and just focus on Vegas! I love my logo too, it is perfect!
Great logo. I have seen GloGirly’s work and have thought of using her but was worried that it would turn out too animated. I think yours is a great balance.
We love it and it was really her first try with just the tongue as a tweak. We don’t want too much animation either but it is exactly what we had in mind. Thanks!
I think the new logo is magnifique! Sorry about BarkWorld – send us a little ‘flat emma’ and we’ll show it around 😉
Thank you! I killed flat Emma, don’t need any imposters floating around! Watch out when I hit Vegas in May!
New logo is great – refined but silly, just like you! Maybe you will have to go on a Snoopy scavenger hunt.
Mom has a list that we are going to start knocking off…should be fun 🙂
If I ever get to visit the Twin cities, I’ll probably skip the Mall. It’s just not my thing. But I’d love running around town looking for Snoopy sculptures.
Congratulations on the new logo. It’s just adorable! Glogirly did a great job.
Mom goes to that mall about twice a year because it is the only place to get what she wants, we aren’t mall types….but, occasionally, a trip to IKEA is necessary. We are going to look for more Snoopys around town and post photos.
Love, Love, LOVE your new logo, Emma. It is perfect!!! I am so sorry you didn’t win the trip to BarkWorld…maybe you can sniff out another way to come?!? It would be so lovely to meet you.

There is still the one partial that hasn’t been given a winner yet, but I feel that chances are slim. I will go to BlogPaws in May, otherwise, I may come to FL in the winter for a week or two, don’t know for sure yet. Glad you like my logo, we are super happy with it.
You logo is so cool Emma! Glogirly dies such great work!!!
She is amazing!
All the Snoopy statues around town must have been really fun Emma…I hear the Mall of America is too huge…Bet it’s fun to explore
I absolutely adore your new logo…It’s pawfect! You know I’m sorry you didn’t win, but all our fingers and toes are crossed for you to win the remaining partial <3
I can’t go in the Mall but it is huge and they are adding on as well. Mom doesn’t go there much either because it is just too big but IKEA is right there in its own building so she does go there.
I loved the Charles Schultz trivia. I hope you are able to find some more statues to show us! I already told you on Facebook, but will say again how much I love your new logo! I’m also sorry you didn’t win the Barkworld contest, but good job giving it a try!
Thank you! Mom is planning some Snoopy hunts, so stay tuned 😉
I love your new logo, its pawrsome:-)
Thanks, I think it is totally me 🙂
Emma, You really stumped us on Wednesday! Mom said she’d LOVE to go to the Mall of America! Our nearest IKEA is over an hour away (in the Boston area) so Mom never goes (too much traffic). Two paws up on your Logo! It’s PAWtastic! I want one now! 🙂
Thank you, I love my logo! Mom always wanted to live near an IKEA, now we do, about 20 mins away. So many people come here on mall vacations, you could do that for a couple days.
Love the new logo! Very cute. 🙂
You should definitely find some more Peanuts statues and post them….especially the Snoopy ones! And thanks for sharing the trivia, always fun to learn something new.
We are going to start Snoopy hunting and hopefully post pics on Wednesdays.
