The other day Gramma had the need for an Earthling Cheeseburger, so she asked me if I wanted to go with her to get one! Heck yeah! What dog doesn’t want to ride in Gramma’s convertible, on a lovely day, to the Galaxy Drive In where dogs are welcome? It is a super fun 50’s style drive in with the car hops, your tray of food on the car window, good food including old fashioned malts, decor and all!
We headed out onto the open road. I was in the back seat with my seat belt and Doggles enjoying the wind in my fur. What a great feeling having my long floppy ears get blown around a bit! We arrived at the drive in, and I got to get out and investigate, which is allowed. The Galaxy Drive In loves dogs even more than humans. How do I know this? They have a dog bone on their menu and every dog that wants one can have their very own ice cream cone for FREE! Now if that doesn’t show love, I don’t know what does!
On all the ordering boxes they have little dogs. Every box has a different dog, super cute. Sorry to say, but not surprising, I did not see a GBGV. I may have to bark with them about this issue some day.
They have lots of things for people to do while they are waiting for their food or if they just feel like hanging out. This giant chess game seemed pretty interesting to me!
They also have old cars all around on signs and old toy cars hanging on the ceiling above where the cars all park to order food.
What a fun place to go with your dog. If you live in the Twin Cities, look it up and take a ride to St. Louis Park with your dog for a fun experience! One more thing, if you are still hungry after your doggy ice cream, sniff around the picnic tables…there you will always find some good left overs to fill up on! They are so dog friendly that they even have a couple dog waste stations for those, ahem, embarrassing accidents that can happen.
In case anyone is wondering, I never wear a harness to walk, but I have on my seat belt harness today because I was only out of the car for a short time. It is all made out of seat belt material with heavy duty padding to keep it from hurting me. It fastens into the car with a heavy clip and is approved for use on the German Autobahn but can also be used when walking. Stay tuned for more information, including a crash test, on my seat belt on Friday this week!
I’m also proud to announce that I am a guest blogger on the Plexidor Blog today. Stop by and see what I am barking and howling about!
I’m joining in the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies
this looks like the coolest thing in the stratosphere!!! You have the coolest things there! I just showed this to my Dad I liked it so much! I’ll take a burger with mayo and no cheese please! Barks and licks and love, Dakota
It is such a cool and fun place and even better because they love dogs!
Wow, what a fun restaurant. Food always tastes better when you share it with a dog. 🙂
BTW, maybe you need to send Galaxy drive in a miniature of you to add to their collection.
We don’t have a car so we don’t get to do those kinds of things anymore. But sometimes we’ll rent a car for the weekend and include a trip to the drive-in movies while we have it.
Well you can bike to it or just walk up but it is fun having that tray of food on the car window!
Okay, Emma. We are all now officially jealous! Boy, do we wish we lived close enough to join you at this drive in! And eagerly await more info about your seatbelt, too.
I wish I could have all my friends meet me there for a big dog party! I bet the drive in would love it too, but I would call ahead to make sure they have plenty of pup cones!
That sure looks like a cool place. Love it. Wish we had a dog friendly drive in. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
It is ideal because the humans and us dogs love it!
How fun Emma! That place looks so cool and it’s so nice to hear how accommodating they are for dogs!
It is perfect and since finding places that welcome dogs is not easy, we love it all the more!
Hey Emma – your mom and gramma always take you on the best outings. That place looks super fun and the menu sounds quite progressive. Have a good week!
We try to find fun stuff to do…but a place with a dog menu is a real rare find!
That looks a very cool place! We would love to visit there. Your own ice cream…..awesomeness!
I know…it is so a super fun place for the whole family!
Oh my goodness, you couldn’t look and cuter (or cooler) in your sunnies, riding in the convertible!! Love!
Gotta have a convertible at a drive in!
This place looks awesome!
It is and the food is awesome too!
Wow, super cool place! Woooowooooo, Ku
It sure is!
Emma- you are making Katie real jealous. I think she wants to come for a visit. How long would it take her to drive from New York to your house?First she has to get her drivers license.
Probably two really long days. She better get a license first or she will end up in a police car…I know that is not a good thing. She can come whenever she can get here!
That place looks like a lot of fun – even more so with the dog-friendly theme!
It is great for people and their pups. Mom and Gramma love it too!
Okay that is so much fun – love the pics!
Thanks, it is a great “spot for spot”.
That’s super-galactic good. Ice cream and burgers and bones and hey, you even met Elvis!
Wow! I’m deep impressed! I wish we had such Galaxy Drive In in my galaxy too.
I think it is a one of a kind place. Glad they fixed it up rather than tearing it down.
That really does look like a fun place to go Emma! Love the giant chess set. 🙂
And hey, since you have such a super-rated harness, will you be attempting a drive on the Autobahn next, with your cool goggles on?
You know I lived in Germany from when I was nine weeks old until I was around ten months old. Mom took us on lots of speedy rides…we loved it and she misses the speed! I don’t know if I would be good at driving that fast.
What an awesome place, Emma! And what fun to have your Gramma take you for a cruise in her convertible. Did you have an ice cream cone or a dog bone?
I went with the free ice cream cone…the bone cost $1.25 and I really wanted the cold dessert.
wow, that looks like a great place! we have sonic drive-ins that kinda sounds like galaxy but i don’t think sonic is sooo dog friendly. hmm, maybe a trip to sonic is in order. all in the name of research of course 🙂 bone appetit!
wags.
We have Sonic here too but it is definitely not as retro and cool as the Galaxy. This is a true one of a kind fifties style place…with the free ice cream for dogs! Gotta love it!
Wow – what a fun place! And how fun to ride in a convertible! Rita would LOVE that. She loves to put her head out the window.
It is nice having a fun Gramma with cool wheels for summer cruising!
Thanks for taking us along on another great Emma adventure!
Any time 🙂 I love adventures and the more the merrier!
OMD Emma, that place is awesome! We’re so jealous! And riding in a convertible? How fun! Love all the great pictures!
We’ll be keeping an eye out for your seat belt harness post, because we’re trying to make up our minds about what harnesses to use in the car.
Our seat belts are really nice. They are pricey but they are safe. If Germans approve them for the autobahn, that is saying something. Friday’s post will have a ton of information.
That place looks like so much fun, now how to persuade typist to take a care ride to it??! *puts on thinking cap!*
Let me know when you will be arriving, I can meet you and we can have ice cream together!
That would be the most fun!!
Emma, we are such numpties..We came over yesterday, read your fantastic post, and I wish my gran had a convertible..BOL but we didn’t leave a comment.. Talk about losing the plot.Bawahhhahwaaa xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
It is a compliment that you were so amazed by my post that you forgot 😉 No harm done!
It sure looks like fun Emma AND I’m super interested to hear about your seat belt. We’ve been looking for the right one for S & D and I’m still perplexed.
Mom would not trade ours for anything, they are out of real seat belt material which is the first clue that they are good. They are pricey but Katie has had hers for eleven years and it is still just fine.
Hey Emma
What a cool place you went to! I wish we had one of those here as well!! What did you order? I’m guessing the bone and ice cream special?! 🙂
Have a fun day
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Just the ice cream…I wanted to skip right to the good stuff 🙂 Mom and Gramma had burgers and malts in the car…for some reason I had to exit the car to eat my ice cream, how rude!
That looks like a super fun place, especially the bones and ice cream.
the brown dawgs
It is an awesome place!
HOW FUN!!! I’m so glad you had a great time with your Gramma!! I love it when I come across places that are this dog-friendly!! Places like the Galaxy Drive-In deserve all the great press that they can get!
Exactly! It is hard to find many pet friendly places so we post them when we do.
That looks like a great place to visit!
It is super cool and tasty too!
