Today I’m joining 2 Brown Dawgs in the This ‘N That Thursday blog hop!
It’s a little of this and a little of that and everything in between…
A huge GBGV thank you to all my friends for all the birthday wishes yesterday! I had a pawsome day, and so far seven is working out well for me.
This is the final week before my official book release date of September 19th. This is a shot of the back cover of my book, I do think I look smart, don’t you?
I wanted to mention a few more things about my book.
A big thanks to Snoopy and his mom for helping me out, answering some of my questions and giving me tips on where to turn. I have to admit that when I had the book pretty much written but had the task of figuring out how to add the 120 photos, including resizing and touch up, I was about ready to start pulling my fur out, but Snoopy and his Mom saved the day! Thank you so much for your advice!
Some people think my book is a children’s book, some have no clue and some think it is for adults. Well, Tales of a French Scent Hound is a book for everyone from children to adults – the only requirement is a love of animals and a sense of humor!
My book is rated “G” for:
- General audience
- Great
- Goofy
- GBGV
If you would like a chance to win a copy of my book in this week’s contest, you need to answer the following question. Looking at the back cover of my book, what US TV hostess (1980’s-1990’s), do I remind you of? Now if you are under 30, this may be tough! I don’t personally know a thing about this person, but Mom says this photo with the glasses reminds her of that woman. I’m sure lots of you will guess the correct answer, so I will put all the correct answers in my food bowl and whichever is the last one not eaten will win the book! This week’s hint…The correct answer begins with a letter between C and X. Good luck!
Rules and Eligibility:
- Only one guess per week per person/animal.
- A person/animal may only win one book over the course of the next four weeks, everyone should have a fair chance. If you have already one, you can guess, but you can’t win a second book.
- The contest is open to any person/animal living on the planet earth – I know I have fans all over the world and I will ship to anywhere, but if you are outside of the USA, shipping may take a bit longer.
- Anyone who has worked with me on my book is ineligible as you may have insider information creating an unfair advantage for yourself, and I have something special planned for my helpers anyway.
- All entries for the contest this week must be received by Saturday, September 14th at midnight central time.
- Winner will be announced in my Monday blog post on September 16th.
- Winner will have 24 hours to email me with their shipping information or I will move on to the second place finisher. My email address can be found in the “Meet Emma” section of my website.
Ok, it is This N’ That Thursday, so here is my other big news. Yesterday was my 7th birthday and Mom had a surprise for me. She actually invited three GBGV puppies over to celebrate with me. That was only the first part, though. Before they left, I got to choose one of them to stay, and become my very own little sister. I chose purple girl! Her new name is Bailie. Maybe Mom is a crazy dog lady, as we are now a three dog family, but I think it will be lots of fun once we all adjust. I have already informed Bailie that I am the boss around the house, and the blog, and social media accounts are mine. She will be allowed to share just like Katie, Bert, and Sophie do, but I keep the ownership.
Here is our first “the girls” photo. She has a lot to learn about being a photo model! I think she has a serious case of ants in the pants because she doesn’t sit still much.
Here is a shot of just Bailie. Mom wanted a puppy that had different markings from what I have, so she has almost a raccoon type face.
I think that wraps it up for today. I have to get busy teaching Bailie how to behave properly.
OMD..OMD OMD..You got a puppy for your birthday.. Oh I so want one..She is gorgeous. Can’t wait to hear of all the puppy tails..BOL xxooxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Yes, I have a little sister. It will be lots of work bringing her up to speed on how to live a good GBGV life but I will do my best!
Sally Jessy Raphael. And you got a puppy for your birthday! Best present ever.
You nailed that one! My little sister is pretty cute but she kept us all up last night.
Emma that is the most exciting news ever! I can’t believe you’re so lucky…what a fantastic barkday present just for you…Of course I know you’ll have Bailie in line in no time at all…And she’s such a lucky girl to have sisfurs like you and Katie!
You do look a bit like Sally Jessie Raphael Emma…who could forget those red glasses? so please enter me for your contest 🙂
We are not all sure just yet if it is exciting or not. What we do know is that she can howl like a big dog…and we are tired because we heard lots of that howl all night 🙂 Once we get settled into a routine, it will be great fun! I have you entered for the book!
OMD that is a precious bundle and of cuteness. We can’t wait to hear more. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
She is cute but boy is she loud and she doesn’t seem to believe in sleeping at nighttime. I will get her set straight soon.
You DO look very smart in your glasses. Congrats on your book.
Bailie is so cute. She looks almost like a fuzzy Basset Hound right now 🙂 Congrats on your new sister.
She look a lot like I did as a puppy, but now I am much more refined 🙂
You always look very smart Emma! My, that Bailie is sure a cutie!!!
Not quite as cute as me, but close.
PS I’ve got something for you on my blog today Emma 🙂
Oh Emma I am so sorry I missed your birthday! My human didn’t let me go online yesterday.
Happy HAPPY belated birthday! And many many purrs to many more!
We have the same age by the way =^.^=
Purrs
I don’t mind stretching out birthday greetings over a few days. Seven is great, right?
It definitely is!
For sure your book have lots of “giggles” too. Awww Bailie is soooooo cute 🙂 You got lots of training to do. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Yes, it will be a project, but we are all going to help out and she is very smart, so hopefully she will be well behaved in no time. Like that giggles too 🙂
Honest to Pete, I’m looking at the three of you thinking, “She got a Beagle as a sister? I swear her mama needs glasses. And so young. What a pity.” It was the second photo where the GBGV was more obvious. What a hoot!
Sally Jessie Raphael? Really? Shoulda gone for the Oprah look. 😉
When GBGVs are young they are often mistaken for bassets or beagles. She is a GBGV. She is wandering all over the place tripping over her ears…how embarrassing! Yes, Sally it is. I did not choose my glasses for that reason. The glasses appeared and Mom said you look like Sally Jesse. I think I am much cuter and not as controversial!
Hi, Emma, It is me Maggie, The PBGV in Florida. Oh, wow! You got a mini Emma for your birthday! I would love to have a mini me, but we have three Boston terriers that do not like me and will not play with me. The mama Boston always tries to rip me up so we have to always be kept apart! The injustice! I am the elder dog person in this house! So, has Bailie tried to use you as a teething ring or a chewie yet? Can’t wait to hear these tales!
Wow, four doggies, that is a lot! I can’t believe the other ones are so mean to you. Right now we are all adjusting and tired because Bailie cried most of the night. I’m not showing lots of love yet, but it will come. I did give her a good sniff over when we got up this morning. There will be plenty of upcoming tales, I’m sure.
we are just thrilled for you!
I’m still adjusting and not 100% sure this is a good idea, but Mom says we will be best buddies in no time.
Oh goodness, I missed your birthday so Happy Belated Birthday Emma and my what a great birthday gift you got!! I love puppies and Bailie is a real cutie!!
The lady you are looking for is Sally Jessie Raphael and yes you do remind me of her!
Well, I hope just the glasses remind you of her…I don’t do those controversial topics on my blog and my new sister is definitely not from an illegitimate mother 🙂 Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Oh how adorable! Congrats on the new baby! How old is she?
Thank you! Twelve weeks and three days 🙂 She is starting to turn into a mini terror!
I am so excited for you that you got to pick a sister. She is so lucky to have you and Katie as big sisters. I can’t wait to hear all about the puppy stories. How exciting. You next book should be Bringing up Puppy by Emma.
Right now we are all just adjusting. Bailie is starting to feel comfortable which means starting to get into trouble. I’m starting to warm up to her but I am a bit of a jealous type, so it will take a little time. I know we will be great together, though.
Ooooh, you got a puppy, what a fantastic birthday surprise! You have to teach her how to use computers and stuff. =) Can’t wait to hear about all the fun stuff you’ll do together. =)
I’m starting out slow, showing her that I run the show around here, but I know we will have tons of fun together…she has lots of mischief in mind even at her tender age of three months.
Your new sister is adorable….that is the most awesome present!! You three girls are going to have so much fun!
Now, I think I know just who your Mom thinks you look like in that photo on the back cover of your book. I can picture her, but darned if I can remember her name! I’ll comment again if it comes to me (it’s going to drive me crazy now too, because it’s right on the tip of my tongue).
Just ask someone that watches TV, they will know (or read other comments). You have til Saturday at midnight 🙂
Sally Jessy Raphael! I actually did come up with it on my own….when I was just reading your comment! I knew it was a two part first name. I really just wanted to think of it on my own, without getting any help. When you’re over 50, you have to challenge your memory every so often, just to keep it working. 🙂 thanks Emma!
Hi Bailie!!! What a cutie you are. 🙂
She is cute but a tiny terror too. That is okay as she is amusing and will settle down soon enough.
Bailie…LOVE her!!!! That pic…Sooooooooooooooooo CUTE!!!! Congrats on all the fun!!!!
Thanks, it is pretty dead at our place right now, we are all worn out and Bailie kept us up all night, so we need some rest!
Oh, I know, but it is SO worth it!!!! Hope you get some wonderful rest sometime today!!!! -Hugs
SOOOO cute! That face is to die for 🙂
Almost as cute as mine 😉 She is adorable!
Wow! That’s some BIG this and that! Your very own pup! Does it squeak?
Actually, I make her shriek! We’ve had a couple small run ins with food and she squeals and shrieks like crazy. Now she knows not to steal from me.
Your book looks like it’s so cool. And because mom is old, she knows that the red glasses are Sally Jess Raphael.
You got that right! Entered!
Thanks so much for participating in TNT! Oh my goodness a new sister. Bailie is adorable. You are too Emma, but come on a puppy!
I am with everybody else. I guess Sally Jessy Raphael, who I ran into at the airport once a long tome ago. Believe me, you are cuter. 🙂
Yep, you are correct and I think I am cuter too! I have you entered! Bailie says thanks too.
Emma!! A new little sister? This is the most pawsome news ever!!!! She’s so stinkin’ cute. Boy, I thought your plate was full before, but now it’s REALLY full. You’ve got a ton of teaching ahead of you. At least you’re done writing your book and will have a little more time for teaching.
And yes, no one could forget Miss Sally Jessy Raphael. Good thing you’re not nearly as old as her.
We are rather overloaded but in a good way. Bailie is super smart, so I think she will be a fairly easy puppy and with me as a teacher…well, what could go wrong? I have you down for your guess of Sally 🙂
OMD – Emma! Your new little sis is SO cute!! Can’t wait to hear more about her!
(And I knew that look was Sally Jesse Raphael as soon as I saw those glasses! Pick me! I wanna win!)
You are correct. Maybe I will let Bailie pick the winner since she doesn’t know anyone and she loves to eat things.

Congrats on the new addition to your family! Bailee is adorable, but secretly I think you will always be the cutest one in the family. But I do secretly like Bert… And of course, Katie and you :- ) BUT she is adorable!
Thank you, I know I am the cuter better pup, but the little one is not bad;) Bert on the other hand is nothing but trouble but I love him too.
Bailie is absolutely A D O R A B L E!!!! You look like you picked out a good little friend, Emma.
You look like Sally Jesse Raphael with those red glasses! I actually used to listen to that show while cleaning house once I got the oldest to school. BOL What memories you brought back!
She is pretty cute and she is turning our house upside down but we are all happy about her! Those red glasses are signature!
you got a puppy for your birthday?!? aww, she is precious. i have a feeling she’s gonna be the topic of all of the monday mischief posts 🙂
the talk show hostess of course is sally jessy raphael but i think everyone already knows that.
wags, bailey unleashed
Yep, got a sister for my birthday, lots to adjust too and she is now starting to cause lots of mischief! Got your entry for Sally )
The red glasses = Sally Jessie Raphael…
And goodness, a new puppy – how exciting. What a little cutie pie she is too – not as cute as you of course, but she will be good for some mischief slight of hand, I just know it.
Sally is correct, who else could it be? Bailie is cute and is starting to get into all kinds of trouble which takes the heat off me for a change!
You are going to be busy, Emma! Bailie has a lovely face. She’s already doing well on the sorrowful look that makes bipeds melt and hand over the treats!
I’m busy helping make sure Mom doesn’t get sucked in…I like to discipline Bailie and show her who rules the house 🙂
Bailie is absolutely adorable! What a birthday! And knew immediately: Sally Jessie Raphael. Those glasses! 🙂
It was a pretty amazing birthday. Now we are trying to figure out our life with Bailie. She is a very busy little one!
Sally Jessey Raphael.. But I think I am going to win one of your books at the auction… so it might not be fair to win one here.. Love you!!!!
You are right with Sally. Hope she doesn’t mind being used in my contest – BOL! We will see what happens…when does that auction end anyway?
Happy belated birthday and good luck for the book launch!
Thank you and thanks for stopping by!
I’m sorry I missed your birthday! Hope it was fantabulously tripetastic.
Your Bailie is super cute! I hope she isn’t driving you bonkers like my Ellie is me… the best time is when she’s sleeping and I get some peace and quiet!
I have been showing her who is the boss, so she is leaving me alone a lot. I know she and I will have lots of fun when she is not such a baby!
Your going to love being the older sibling!! You can teach her so much!!
So far I have just enjoyed being the boss 🙂
I’m old too, so I gotta go with everyone else and say Sally Jessy Raphael. 🙂
You are right…Mom says if you are over 30 it is sooo obvious!
I can’t believe that I missed this Emma!!! Congratulations on your new addition! She is so adorable and I bet you all will be the best of friends and you will teach everything you know!
No worries, we all miss things now and then. You would have figured it out eventually. I am busy trying to get her to be a bit more civilized but at her age, that is no easy project 😉
