What’s shakin’? At my house it is IAMS Shakeables! It’s fall here in the Northland, the time when it cools off, and we start to think about comfort food. What could be more comforting than the thought of some IAMS Shakeables? IAMS sent me a coupon for a can of IAMS Shakeables to try and review. As a bonus, they also gave me a coupon to send to one of my readers for their own free can of IAMS Shakeables. More on that at the end of this post. IAMS Shakeables are available in chicken, turkey and lamb. To do a real test, Mom got the lamb. Being a picky eater I normally will not eat lamb.
We took the Shakeables outside to give them a try. I got to go first since they are really my treats. You can see that I am liking the smell and taste right off the bat! I’m wondering if Mom has tricked me because I love it and it is lamb!
Next we let Katie give them a try. Look at her eyes! That complete concentration almost melted that treat!
Little Bailie was the last one and she was nuts for them too…but she is not the best judge since she eats everything. As crazy as she is for food, she is gentle and never bites Mom’s fingers.
These treats are made from real chicken, lamb, and turkey. They are soft and chewy, yet they manage to make a nice noise when the can is shaken.
The only thing we do not like about them, well actually, Mom does not like, is their size. For training treats, Mom felt they should be 1/3 to 1/2 their size as the lamb bits were about 1.5″ long and up to 3/4″ wide. There are about 500 calories in one package (6 oz), and we guess about 50 treats per package making each treat about ten calories. Most of the treats we got, Mom broke into three pieces which also works but it would be nice if the original pieces were smaller. Us dogs had no issues with the size and felt they could be even larger 🙂

Lamb? Did someone say lamb??? I can eat lamb! Beef is a no-no food for my tummy and chicken is iffy. Do they have ANY dairy in them? THAT is my biggest tummy trouble! Wanna know a secret? Milk or buttermilk is one of the SECRET ingredients in KFC chicken! The mom gave me some and……let’s just say I liked it but the tummy did not!

You have such yummy stuff in Europe which I know from living in Germany, more natural stuff. We miss that, but the grass is always greener on the other side of the Atlantic!

I’d never seen these before – looks like they went over well! I actually think the packaging looks like a good feature, too, since often resealable soft packaging doesn’t quite stand the test of time. Doubt Moses and Alma would complain about the size of the treats!
Us dogs did not mind the size, that was Mom ruining the fun breaking them into smaller pieces!
Great review – cute video! I had heard of these and since they’re called shakeables I was thinking they would be like sprinkles to go over food rather than full size treats.
They are full sized treats, well training treats or if you are really small maybe a regular treat.

We have never seen these before! Shakeable treats are great attention getters. We use tons of training treats since Luna is always learning!
We all drop everything we are doing when Mom shakes that can, we love them!
Hey Emma – luck you – those treats sound yummy. My momz has me on a special ‘single protein’ diet to see if I stop itching…and the protein is salmon, so while I would like all three of those flavors, momz says no.
Bummer for you. My mom can’t stand fish, so we never get anything with fish at our house…she can’t even stand tuna, the all American fish! I will eat some extra lamb for you. Hope you stop itching, that does not sound like fun.

We trained our ears to always do what Mom says when she shakes the can in about 30 seconds! Yummy stuff!

Bailie is so food motivated it is not funny. She is starting to relax a bit now that she sees Katie and I being mellow about food and no one fights over food here, but she still has a way to go!
Fantastic review, Emma! Love the pictures and the video of you three running. Tell Katie her eyes look absolutely stunning in her picture. That’s the only downside to being a longer-haired dog like yourself is that we can’t see always see your beautiful eyes.

At first I thought they were some kind of food topping that you “shake” into the dish. I like that they are meant to make noise in the can. I know that Chester and Gretel pay attention to be closely once their hear a bag crinkle.
We learned the shake noise equals tasty snacks in about 10 seconds. All three of us come immediately if we hear that can!

Great review. The video with sound effects made us long for the time we get to try ours. Jan got us lamb too, but not because we don’t like it – she doesn’t think we’ve tried any yet.
That shaking noise is a miracle my mom says…we all still come running, so we will be buying more shakeables in the future!
