Mom heard about this crazy place called Sam’s Junkyard and Antiques, not far from our house, but kind of in the middle of nowhere. They had lots of cool, old stuff, and people go there a lot to take photos. They do charge a small fee, but it was worth it. One nice day we packed up the camera and headed out there. It is a bizarre place, but super interesting. They have a house Dachshund roaming the grounds, and free range chickens. I had to stay on the leash because I had chicken dinner on my mind!
The place was a bit like a three ring circus! I feel like there is a clown behind me…
Have you ever wondered what became of Nemo after his movie career ended? Well, we found him. Sad existence for a fish!
I met this happy family while I was paw padding around. I have to say, they were a bit odd, but seemed real happy in their strange car!
Some folks even fly in to this place. I have been on an airplane twice in my seven years, and did not want to try going for another plane ride.
This old car looks like it is headed for the beach but a bit heavy on the back end. I tried to sit at the same angle the car was standing at!
Last but not least, I got to sit on a firetruck from way back when. Amazing that I was never on a firetruck in my life and now I have been on two in two months…maybe I am destined to be a fire dog after all?
I guess in the 1960’s there was a TV show called Petticoat Junction and my mom loved to watch it. Special for her I posed by that water tower. Mom rambled on about Hooterville Billy Jo, Betty Jo, Bobby Jo, Uncle Joe, Kate, Steve and some others. I guess she really did like that show.
That was the beginnings of Sam’s Junkyard and Antiques. We are going to go back again one day and see what else we can find. They don’t have a website, or I would link to it. Hope you enjoyed seeing some of my finds!
I’m joining in the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies
What a fun and brilliant place to visit. Have a great week Emma, we are just off for a run, keeping fit 🙂 xxooxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Good job, more exercise equals more snacks 😉
Your Mom always finds the most unique and fun places to visit Emma!
Thanks. The blog gets us out looking for fun stuff more often, and it is fun taking photos too.
I’m putting it on our bucket list! Living in Minnesota as well, we will definitely need make a day trip and check it out! Thanks for this wonderful post.!
It is closed over the winter, so unless you go in the next week or two, you will need to wait for spring. Call ahead would be my advice but it is worth going to for sure!
Thanks for the tips! We will definitely hit it up next year!!!
You definitely should. I will be going back again too.
Sounds like a fun day, but you always have fun days! You are a lucky puppy.
As you know, we try to have lots of fun and adventure.
Thanks for sharing another great field trip. Emma. I do not get out much. The mom did buy me a seat belt just like the one you have. Once I was going on a play date to see some other PBGVs on the other side of the state and we got in a bad crash. A bus hit us! I got hurt, the mom got hurt, and our car… it died. I must have hit my head really good, because after that I finally liked riding in the car!
We love to go along in the car when we can and Mom likes us to experience lots of things. Buckle up!
My mom would LOVE that place!!!! How awesome. And yep, petticoat junction was a great show.
We have to go back because the first time was overwhelming.
That’s COOL! I wonder what they do during winter time to preserve these antiques. Golden Thanks for sharing. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
I don’t know, I think they put stuff inside, close up the vehicles and hope for the best. I will be back there in the spring.
oh this looks like the COOLEST place!!!That trailer at the top with the Lions looks like the one from The Wizard of Oz!
There is so much amazing stuff! We thought of the circus, but you may be onto something!
That is just the greatest of places. We’d love to visit somewhere like that. What fun except for the bit where you didn’t get a chicken dinner. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Next time I will focus more on the chickens 😉
What a great find, thanks for sharing the pictures!
Thanks, it is really a neat spot and there was way too much to see in one trip, so we will be going back in the spring.
Omigoodness! That looks like the best junkyard EVER! It would be worth the trip north just to visit!
You can stay with me and we can go there together!
Wow – so much fun stuff! Love the Felix the Cat plane. I wonder if those folks have kids – can you imagine that being your playground as a kid?! What fun! (Too bad you didn’t get a free-range chicken dinner!)
Next time I have to work more on catching a chicken when Mom isn’t watching! The people are older, so not really any kids playing there.
wow what an interesting place! Love the Nemo car. I love it when people use their imagination!
Lots of imagination at Sam’s for sure!
What a cool place! Looks like a great time! =D
Thanks, it was fun!
Poor Nemo! Looks like a cool place to visit!
I know, I guess fame and fortune did not really work out for Nemo!
That looks like a great place to explore Emma!
It is a huge place to explore!
What a great place – so much mischief to be had there. Wasn’t Petticoat Junction a spin-off from the Beverly Hillbillies? Too funny.
Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, and the Hillbillies were all tied together somehow through Hooterville I think.
That is quite the place, Emma! There certainly are some strange things there too….I don’t think I’d want to go there after dark. 🙂 Petticoat Junction….I remember that….so cool!
Oh no, only during the daytime 🙂
Oooh, very interesting. I’m glad someone finally found Nemo. 😉
Now he needs a proper home and some love I think!
Boy! Thanks for the fun tour Emma! and introducing us to those new friends. That looks like a great place to visit.
It is really an interesting spot…a junkyard like no other!
What a cool place. Now that is my kind of place. LOVE the pictures. One year hubby and I took a trip west and there was a cool kind of antique side of the road place. I could have spent hours and hours there because there were several building with great stuff. In one there were some really well preserved carriages. I would say from the 1800’s. All in great condition. I am so glad some people think to collect all these things!
That looks like brilliant fun!!
It was! We have to go again in the spring.
wow, interesting place and awesome for picture taking. good find, emma!
wags, bailey unleashed
I guess a lot of photographers go there for photo shoots.
Hey Emma
What a cool place you discovered, it would take a long while to get bored there!
Have fun
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
We ran out of time…have to go back again in the spring!
That is a funny little place! lol. Is that a ladybug on a tractor?! I love the carnival trailer!
It’s a giant ladybug on some wood with a camera – very cool place!
What an interesting little place you guys found! It does look like it would be a cool picture taking spot.
I guess lots of local photographers go there for shoots of all kinds…it was our first trip.
I think that is such a neat place and one of my favorite shows was Petticoat Junction!!
Mom too. I have never seen it but I think it might be on one of those new TV channels on cable…we have to check it out.
Now that’s some cool junk! I’d like to roam around that place!
I think most people would!
What a bunch of neat stuff! Love the Shutter Bug! Wait. They had a Dachshund and chickens? That Dox must not be related to us… we’d be after those chickens all day every day.
The dachshund was really nice and friendly, but he thinks he owns the place!
