Tip One: If you are a regular reader you may recall that my sister Katie has some arthritis issues and has been dragging her back left paw which actually led to the two middle claws being worn off to the quick. No one has been able to get us any real help. Katie was wearing a shoe on that paw when we went on walks, but because of the dragging the shoes keep wearing out within a few days and it was not only frustrating but expensive. If you think about it, dragging something along on the ground is like a fingernail on an emery board.
Katie has been taking Metacam at a dosage for about 65% of her weight for a year and that has really helped rid her of the stiffness, but not the dragging paw. We tried so many different things that we found on line, and supplements the vet recommended but nothing helped. In August, Mom read a post by Forever Home Wanted about a new all natural revolutionary supplement. There was not much information out there on this P&B Hip and Joint Support but we did really think the video was cute. After trying so many things, a cute video seemed to be the tipping point. We checked on Amazon and it was fairly inexpensive compared to other products we had tried. We checked with the vet to make sure it would be okay to try, and ordered it.
Folks! It is amazing stuff! They ship it right out so you have it in just a couple days, it smells like chicken bouillon, and Katie the dog that never ever eats medicine, loves it! It comes in capsules that she eats just like a treat. It took about three to four weeks to see results but she is doing so much better. The proof is in the shoes actually! Katie is only wearing a shoe on longer walks these days and the shoe lasts and lasts, meaning she really is not dragging that paw much. Towards the end of long, long walks or on days when she is tired she drags it a bit, but most days it is a miracle! We highly recommend trying this product if your dog has arthritis issues!
Tip Two: I sent Mom to Bloggy Boot Camp! Actually, I have to thank my friend Gizmo’s mom, Beth, for letting us know about this event that took place in Minneapolis last weekend. When we got the email from Beth, I got right on my laptop and read up on it and realized that Mom had to go. It was a one day blogging conference in our backyard, and we all know she could use some tips to help me improve my blog!
I found a puppy sitter for Bailie so Mom could go off for a whole day to camp. It was a bit odd since she had only been to one conference ever, BlogPaws, last May which was all about pets. The bloggers at Bloggy Boot Camp were mainly mommy bloggers, household type bloggers, bargain bloggers, recipe bloggers, and a few others. She was the only pet blogger. This actually worked out well. It was good for her to see what other bloggers are doing and the blogging basics are the same no matter what you are blogging about. Now she is starting to follow some other types of blogs which really opens up a whole new box of ideas. The day was full of information on what is trending, Google, SEO tips, making money, motivation, and so much more.
The conference also got Mom thinking outside the “pet blogger box”. When she heard that someone got a washer and dryer to test and review, she got to thinking that some of those companies should be giving products like that to pet bloggers as well. With my sisters and I, plus two cats, we have a lot of beds to wash, and lots of towels that are full of dirt, sand, and fur. We need sturdy laundry machines too! But that was just a side thought she had.
Mom made some good connections with a few other bloggers, and now knows some bloggers in our area which is nice. The day was super informative, very fun, and motivational. The speakers were all excellent and up to speed on their topic, Tiffany Romero was hilarious! If you see that Bloggy Boot Camp is coming to a city near you, we would highly recommend attending but they sell out, so reserve a spot early! One further note, it is just for women, so if you are a guy, sorry Charlie, not for you.
Today I’m joining 2 Brown Dawgs and cohost Ruckus the Eskie in the This ‘N That Thursday blog hop!
We are so pleased it is helping Katie, she is such a darling.I know it sounds mad but what about a bit of duck tape round the boot, it’s pretty tough waring. Oh that conference sounded fun. We would love to do a review on a fancy fridge with an ice dispenser BOL Have a super day xxooxx
Mollie and Alfie
Yeah…us dogs need ice dispensers! Duct tape on the toes might help a bit, good suggestion.
I am so glad that post helped Katie, I remember your comment and was wondering about it. Hey, sometimes we get in trouble if we think outside the box MOL!!!
Don’t know really why it works when nothing else does but the main thing is it works, doesn’t stink and she loves to eat the pills. Just another great reason to be a member of the blogging community because you can learn a lot.
Good news for Katie. The BBC sounds great. LOL there are so many things we’d love to review….wish we knew how to. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
We are just so focused on pet specific products, why not review some other items that pet people and pets use?
So happy Katie is feeling better. She must love going on the long walks again.
Emma that Bloggie Boot Camp sounds great! My Mom has always followed A TON of blogs outside of the pet blogging niche. Think about it, most of the people who read and comment on our blogs are ALL OF US lol. It is impawtant to branch out to other areas. The “Mommy Bloggers” are HUGE……and extremely knowledgeable…..and that is a way to pick up NEW READERS!!! We have known this for a loooong time! Glad you are hip to it!
You just get stuck in your own box, but now our blinders are open and we are branching out and loving it!
Just for women? But I’m a MANcat!
Purrs,
Nissy
Sorry, just for women…
So glad to hear that about Katie. Roxy could use glucosomine, but is allergic to shell fish and that’s what it’s made from. She didn’t react well when i tried it.
The first blogging conference I went to was actually a design conference. I thought it was a marketing conference. LOL. I had never read a blog, didn’t really know what a blog was. But right after that, I started one.
Now that is funny! Bummer Roxy is allergic as it is helpful.
I’m going to have to remember the name of that hip and joint supplement. Scout’s back legs are starting to get a little shaky. Maybe it would help. That bloggy boot camp sounds great!
For the price they charge it is well worth trying but give it a few weeks to start working.
Wow, great tips! So glad Katie is doing so much better and looking forward to some new test trials/reports from you!
We are happy too and it is so nice that she doesn’t have to wear a shoe much anymore. She was fine with wearing it, but I think it bothered Mom more because it stood out so on her white fur.
Sounds like you’ve had a fun time learning at Bloggy Boot Camp! And you look really smart in that photo too!
I try to be a smart pup and I have to be to keep my blog and social media running smoothly. Now I have to put some of those tips Mom got into action!
It’s great that you’ve found something that works for Katie! (I love that video.)
Blogger boot camp sounds fun. =D
The video really is up our alley and the reason we decided to give it a try.
Emma , my hubby takes Glucosomine and swears by it also a friends dog takes something like Katies takes and it does wonders for her
There are so many kinds of glucosamine supplements but none have really worked until we found this one.
Glad to hear Katie’s feet are doing so much better. I may have to try that for my guys. The blogging conference sounds great – never thought about it, but you’re right, the content is interchangeable – the strategies would be similar, so I bet you could learn a lot from just a ‘general blogging conference. Great idea!
We definitely would suggest trying these supplements, for Katie they are amazing. General blogging conferences are now on our radar as they really help open your eyes to other things and ideas that you can use.
I need to try the P&B Hip and Joint Support as my hips need some help. Ay 13 the mom has tried other stuff on me and I sends it right back. She went shopping the other day, and went to a major pet store, She found the Iams Shakeables. I loves them!!! Lamb, yummy! So do the Bostons, but they will eat anything! Then she went to Target. They did not have a darn thing with Emma’s picture on it, but they did have the Shakeables – $2 less than the pet store! Have a happy day Emma, Katie, and Bailie. 🙂
LOL! Our Target has me on the shelf and shakeables…I guess I am hard to find which is a bummer. Definitely try these supplements, they are not that expensive and they do wonders!
I am so glad to hear that you found something that is really working for Katie. We are just two weeks into trying a different one for Sheba, but if this one does not work for her, we will definitely try yours next.
What a great opportunity for your Mom to go to the Bloggy Boot Camp. I will definitely keep an eye out for that in my area….something local and just one day would be perfect for me. It is always great to learn new and different ideas.
We really are happy with these new supplements! Definitely would recommend them.
The one day boot camp was good, a bit short on networking time but Mom still learned a lot.
That sounds like fun. We should send Jan to bloggy boot camp just to have the computer to ourselves for a whole day. Wow, what we could accomplish!
You should see what I ordered that day online…hope Mom doesn’t check her credit card bill!
So far I am good. Got no arthritis. I’m just taking regular fish oil with my food. Will remember this brand and yes love the video (super cute). There’s a big blogger group wants to join but for a fee and its very into fashion (so the pet stuffs are very trendy). Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
You are lucky with no arthritis, it is a bummer but Katie is doing so much better these days! We aren’t going to pay for a blogging group at this point. Enjoying our friends we find for free.
Momz is so happy that the Bloggy Boot Camp worked out so well for you Emma…Now we’re looking for one here in Central Florida…we wrote and asked them if they have anything set for 2014…Supplements can be tricky…what works for one may not work for another so it’s super that you’ve found the right one for Katie!
I think they rotate around the country every year, so maybe next year you can find one, it was awesome! Supplements are tricky we learned but currently we are quite happy and thankful!
Thanks so much for participating in TNT! I am glad the new supplement is helping Katie. Blogger Bootcamp sounds fun!
Thanks for hosting 🙂
Thanks for hopping on TNT! I just talked about supplementation recently too. Nice to hear about it from your point of view. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for stopping by Ruckus!
I’m glad that medicine is helping Katie. That sounds like an amazing difference!
It is amazing and we are all thrilled.
Oo! Bloggy boot camp sounds great! And I’m so glad that the supplements work! Does your mom use the pawz boots that Sugar wears? They seem to be made of balloon material. Maybe mom can get big balloons and snip off the necks?
Yes, Katie has PAWZ and we bought a bunch on clearance at Target the beginning of the summer, but it is still a hassle having to wear a shoe. We are happy she can get along without the shoe most of the time now.
Wonderful that you found a supplement that works great for Katie AND a blogging conference that helped your mom expand her horizons. Good idea about the washing machine too! They sure do get a lot of use in multiple dog owning homes. 🙂
We always were so focused on dog products but dog people need lots of other items too!
P&B sounds awesome! I’m giving Maya hip & joint supplements even though she does not have issues. I’ve heard Labs tend to develop arthritis so I want to make sure she doesn’t.
I don’t know why it works better for Katie than others, but it does.
I’m glad that medicine is working so well for Katie!
Was the Bloggy Boot Camp hosted by the SITS folks? My mom person was part of that organization with her personal blog. There are some really good ideas out there, but to be one of the top “mommy” bloggers is a lot of work! I hope she learned lots!
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Yes, it was the SITS group. We aren’t mommy bloggers and are no where near being a top pet blogger, but it was good information for any blogger for the most part.
Catching up a little. Poor Katie!! Glad that supplement is making improvements for her! There are so many joint supplements on the market to choose from. We will keep P & B in mind.
Great job sending your mom to Bloggy Boot Camp! I bet she learned a lot! I visit all kinds of blogs and am just blown away by some of them! And yes, most blogging education and advice can apply to all blogs, regardless of topic/theme – so it doesn’t matter that she was the only pet blogger there.
It was just a bit odd coming from BlogPaws where everyone was a pet blogger. Some of those people are just, wow!
Sounds like a productive time at the GBGV household!! Yay for finding some pills for Katie that she likes and that work! I go visit my acupuncture dr once a month and he helps me a lot! I LOVE going to visit him!
They do that for dogs and it is an option we may try at some point if things start going downhill again.
Rhythm is the one going to the acupuncture dr. for her back which causes weakness in her back legs. She loves how she feels afterwards!!
We have heard that it does help. Good to know.
