Fall is a fun time of year to go hiking in the woods with all the fallen leaves and new smells. One of our favorite places to go close to home is Jensen Lake in the Lebanon Hills Park. They have a great trail system with routes as short as forty minutes on up to a couple hours. Even on the weekends it is not a real busy place which makes it all the more enjoyable. Katie and I are on long leashes, and I like to be the pack leader always out front blazing the trail for my pack.
They have made a lot of improvements to the trails over the years. It used to be really muddy, so we were limited as to when Mom wanted to go there, but now they have added in wooden walkways where the mud was, so we can go just about any time.
There is a lot of water and some swampland to look out over. Sometimes in the summer we see turtles sunning themselves on the logs that lie in the lake. The only bad thing is that we have also seen snakes sunning themselves in the summer. If that happens we immediately head home and don’t return again until it is cold out. Mom and her fears!
They have a few benches along the way where you can stop and take a load off your paws.
One of our favorite things to check on is this bridge. Every year it looks more and more unsafe but it is still standing. We took the photo and then Mom said run and we ran really fast to the other side as if that would keep it from falling down.
Bailie kept trying to get into the water, but we did not let her. It is probably pretty dirty and we didn’t want her to be all wet either.
The leaves that were still on the trees really had some pretty colors to them. At the end of the trail, there is a nice lookout bridge over the lake, so we stopped there for a look and, of course, a photo.
We hopped back on the trail and hiked the rest of the way to the car. We only planned on the forty minute walk with Bailie along but we got off on a side trail and spent an hour and twenty minutes there hiking, minus some photo breaks. Bailie had a blast but was worn out as we all were. It was a lovely fall day for a hike in the woods! Getting out in nature and exercising is so much fun!
Remember that Monday, November 18, is the #ScoopThatPoop blog hop! Write up your post on the subject of “Poop Patrol” and join the hop. We will be giving away 2 prizes from Earthrated again this month.
Walking is something you can do all your life and walking with your dog is the best! Walking is our main form of exercise as we can all do it and it is a great workout for each of us. Get your dog on a leash and walk over to the FitDog Friday blog hop sponsored by SlimDoggy, Peggy’s Pet Place and To Dog With Love Stop by and see what other dogs are doing to stay fit!
Fall is the best time to be out and about we agree. Here it is sunny and just lovely so we are making the most of it.
Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
Sounds like fun on the other side of the pond too 🙂 Have a pawsome weekend!
You cannot beat fall hiking, no matter how hard you try. Jensen Park looks fabulous. Great photos, great trails, great fur friends!
We love it there so much pretty much any time of the year. Even in the summer heat it is shady and nice.
That looks like a great place to go. We love fall hikes, but not snakes.
No snakes for us either. We have seen them there on occasion so we avoid those parts of the trails in the warmer months.
So nice to see Katie. Beautiful place for a hike. Happy Friday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Katie was kind of tired out there, but she loves to hike around those trails, so she was quite happy!
Fall hikes are the best! We’ve been trying to get out and enjoy the as much as we can.
I heard Bailie had some slobbers yesterday 🙂 Go Bailie!
She did, how embarrassing…haven’t seen any so far today, though.
Wonderful photos! Looks like a great trail. Florida is great, but I miss fall. (And spring, but not winter, lol!)
Florida weather does get a bit boring at times, we love the seasons.
I wish I could be there. I would like to chase every singe leaf, it looks like the paradise for leaves-hunters :o)
Bailie is a leaf chaser, I have outgrown that hobby.
What an awesome trip – trails are the best. And you better watch out, Bailie is growing fast! She might not be your “little” sister for too long, so enjoy it while you can.
I know, Mom calls her a lug as she is getting to heavy to carry around. I think she will be about my size in a couple more months.
Bailie is growing up too fast – she’s beginning to look like a real GBGV!
Scary isn’t it? Don’t let those looks deceive you, though, she is still a total puppy when it comes to behavior!
Wow, that is a gorgeous place to enjoy walks!!
One of our favs!
what a great place to hike and amazing “group” photos! 🙂
Mom says we are getting better at group shots and even Katie is sometimes smiling – usually she dislikes photos.
What a super place and that they have put down mud walkways xxoxxx
Mollie and Alfie
It is awesome there…so many great smells too!
The mom remembers the 4 beautiful seasons from when she lived in Buffalo. I have only been to the mountains of Georgia in the late summer as I am a Florida girl. The mom and I were hurt pretty bad in a wreck 4 years ago. I had broken ribs and oh so many bumps and bruises and I hurt my front left shoulder! The mom looked like an eggplant all over from her seatbelt bruises that lasted for 5 months. She has had shoulder and back surgery. She can walk in the grocery store and placed like that, but when she goes to Disney or Sea World she has to use one of those scooter things. We were both very lucky to have survived. A huge bus rear-ended us going 55 mph as we were stopped for traffic in front of us. Needless to say we do not get out much and our pool has gotten too cool to swim in. Maggie the PBGV
So happy that you at least survived! I’m sure you get out as much as you can, but life sure can throw some curve balls!
What a wonderful place to hike. It looks like the three of you had a great time. Walking is so much fun, especially with all of those wonderful smells.
We always have tons of energy when we show up there, we love it there!
That is such a beautiful place. I love the wooden walkways they put in over the muddy parts….I’d love to see that on some of our trails here. That bridge was a little unsafe looking, not very level! I love that photo on there with you three girls lined up. So glad you all had a nice time and stayed out even longer than you planned on!
It is never long enough there in my opinion, but we had a great time!
Oh, that looks fabulous! Wish Rita and I could tag along! It’s been too hot here still for hiking, but hopefully soon!
That is why we aren’t fans of summer, too hot for lots of fun!
OMG! Bailie is getting so big! It amazes me how fast puppies grow up:( That looks like an awesome place to take a walk! Have a great weekend!
In a couple months she will be about my size I think.
Beautiful place to hike. You are right, the bridge looks iffy…lol. Bailie is a pup after our own hearts. We would be heading for the water too!
the brown dawgs
I usually do, but I know I am not allowed to swim there, so I gave up trying.
That looks like such a fun place and your photos were all so good!
Thank you…the cats would love to roam around there!
What a nice place for a stroll. Since they fixed up the muddy areas with walkways, hopefully they’ll get around to fixing the bridge for you all soon. 🙂
Lisa from DogzNPaws beat me too it, but I can’t believe how big Bailie is getting!
She is like a weed, just keeps on growing 😉 That bridge is pretty scary, but we keep crossing it.
What a great place for a walk, I’m sure it’s beautiful all times of the year!
It is great all year!
Looks like a fun place to hike. Hiking in fall is always really nice. I love the cooler weather and the fact that there are less bugs… and snakes.
Less snakes is the very best, we don’t like snakes ever!
that sure looks like a fun place for a romp!
It sure is!
Perfect spot for a FitDog adventure with your buddies. Sure looked fun though that bridge definitely looked a tad dodgy. Good thing you did it fast!! Beaut pics too – lovely time of year for you!!
Thank you. We figure if the bridge really was unsafe they would close it off, but on the other hand, maybe we will someday be the ones to make it fall in the lake!
That looks like a really pretty and fun place to visit Emma! Most of the leaves are off our trees in our woods which makes for some pretty slippery trails. It seems like I end up on the ground at least once per walk lately. 🙂 Be safe out there!!
Mom says that she has great balance which she credits to dancing as a youngster and then eleven years as a flight attendant. She slips and catches herself like a pro all the time but she also says that someday she will fall and break something. Until then, we keep walking on…
That looks like a very lovely hike Emma! Wooooowoooooooo!
We love it there!
Such a great place to explore:-)
One of our very favorites!
Looks like a lovely walk, fall walks on a lovely day really are fab aren’t they?!
One thing though, in that park bench photo I thought Bailie had done some mammoth growing as she looks almost as big as you pal!
She has gotten huge! She is almost 30lbs now, and I am 40, so it won’t be long. Once her fur comes in…she will look my size. Good thing I taught her from day one I am the boss!
You took some great photos. It looks a lovely place to take a nice walk.
Thanks – it is one of our top favorites for walking.
