It’s Thanksgiving time where all you humans focus on food, but please don’t forget about Fido! While you are busy eating that big bird, why not let the dog feast on some tasty turkey jerky? At first we really did not know how this recipe idea would work out, but it actually turned out to be the easiest, quickest and best jerky we have made yet.
I started as usual by getting out all my ingredients and equipment.
Because food is on everyone’s mind these days, I had two students, cat bro Bert, and Bailie. They were very eager students! First I explained how we were going to make the jerky.
Next I had the ingredients in my mixer and had to check if everything was nicely pureed together.
I rolled out the mixture on the parchment paper covered baking pan. This was the hard part as my students desperately wanted to sample the product, but I explained that they needed to wait until it was done baking.
We put the jerky into the oven for it to bake which seemed to take four days and not four hours!
In the meantime I had Bailie wash up the cooking equipment in the sink. She enjoyed the bubbles.
Once it was all finished I put it on a plate making it look all fancy.
The three of us waited patiently for our first taste.
Keep the jerky in the refrigerator, but don’t worry, it won’t be in there for long. We managed to eat it all up in a couple days. It was really the best ever!

Enjoy!
I’m taking this post and joining the Tasty Tuesday Blog Hop fun sponsored by Kol’s Notes & Sugar the Golden Retriever
BOL.oh those photo’s of you guys are too cute.. Now I bet that taste super Nommy 🙂 xxoxxx
Mollie and Alfie
It was so good, it was gone almost as soon as it was cool enough to eat.
That looks yummy. You did a great job Emma. Bailie looks like she is getting the hang of helping.
She is a fast learner, just wants to eat while we are making stuff, no patience to wait for the end product.
That looks awesome, Emma, I hope I can give it a try for our dogs….I saved the recipe right on my desktop. I love watching you and your chef’s assistants cooking!
You should make it for them, it is so easy, just hard waiting for the baking time.
OMD those pix are just so cute. We can see you are all going to have a swell Turkey Day.
Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
Hope the jerky makes it until then!
I love your pictures, they really put a smile on my face 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Thank you…you ought to try the jerky, though, that really makes a pet smile!
Your photos are really heartwarmer. You should get your own cook show in tv, I wouldn’t miss only one episode. Have a tasty tuesday!
I’m looking for a Hollywood connection, know of any?
Sadly only Lindsay Lohan and that’s maybe not the best door opener :o) But honestly that was a fabulous post, it would be perfect for a book. BRAVO!
Bummer…well, if you run into any producers, give me a howl!
Well done Emma…get the little kid to do the dishes 🙂
These treats look yummy, but my mom is lazy, so I don’t know if I’ll ever get her to make something for me.
They are so easy! The hardest part is waiting for them to bake all those hours.
First of all, I can’t believe how tall you girls are. Emma, you are so sweet to pass on the family recipes and share them with the other members of your family. Bailie- did you ever think you were getting into such a wonderful family? What a lucky girl you are!
We GBGV’s are long, so we can be tall on two feet! I think Bailie is pretty happy living with us and we like her too most of the time.
Sounds really good. That’s good you’re training Bailie to be your helper.
I think every good chef has assistants 😉
Emma, I LOVE the pictures of you pups (and kitty) cooking!! How on earth does your mom manage to get those?!! Happy Turkey Day!
Love,
Pippy
Honestly, it is so easy. We just do what she asks. Sometimes the cat or Bailie need a couple tries, but we all just seem to know what to do. I love the camera, so I’m really easy!
Emma, the mom says you remind her of Julia somebody when you are in your chef’s gear. What pantastic pictures of you, Bert, Bailie, and Katie. As usual you are utterly pawsome! xoxo, Maggie the PBGV
Lots of people call me the dog version of Julia Childs 😉
Emma, would you kindly come over to my house and teach MY MA how to make some delicious homemade dog treats?!? She is hopeless! So glad you all enjoyed your jerky.
*Cairn cuddles*
Oz
These are so easy, even a stupid cat can do it…have your mom give it a whirl!
You guys look great, love the shot of Bailie doing the washing up:-)
I think we may have to try making some of those!
It is nice having someone to clean up my mess. You should try them, they are beyond awesome.
Looks yummy!
150% yummy in a doggie tummy!
OM NOM NOM. Now I want some jerky for peoples! That looks delicious!
Okay, the Jones wabbit jerky can’t be topped, but this is a close second.
Nice work, I think your title is a perfect jingle for a TV commercial.
It is a nice jingle 🙂
It looks like a yummy doggie treat! Did you cook something for Bert too?
That cat eats anything that is not nailed down, so he had some jerky too. Why not, nothing in it to harm him.
Rooo Emma, I can smell the jerky from here *droooling*. I’m coming over! *Waggy tail*
It’s your first Thanksgiving in the US, you should make some to celebrate. I bet you could eat them even with your injuries.
What great chefs you are! Now will you share?
I always have to share with my two sisters.
You guys are so cute! =D Love the photos! Just don’t tell my gang about the jerky or they won’t be satisfied with their own Thanksgiving treats. XD
Thanks…you should try making this jerky, it is so very easy!
Your pics are just the best! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I bet you are cooking up something tasty too!
You are such a super Chef Emma and we enjoyed the class!
Thanks, the students were very attentive this time.
Great pictures; the turkey looks amazing and store bought. I want to try this over the weekend 🙂
It is super easy and tasty, us dogs love it…and the cat too.
That’s a nice show for us Chef Emma… way to go…
I need a Hollywood contact so I could start my own cooking show!
This looks like the best recipe yet! Thanks for sharing it!
Not sure if it is the best, but it is super easy and tasty!
Mmm mom might do it with the left over turkey. Katie did not have a hat. Happy Tasty Tuesday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Katie isn’t really into participating, so just the apron is a major accomplishment. She doesn’t enjoy looking silly like Bailie and I do 😉
Yummy. We’ve been making jerky for a long time, so we invested in a dehydrator.
Mom was going to buy a dehydrator, but since we only do this a few times a year, we decided to stick with the oven for now, but we may get a dehydrator eventually
What adorable pictures!! You do such a great job of cooking Emma. Unfortunately we are not baking the turkey this year so there will not be any leftover to make jerky . We are glad you enjoyed yours and hope you have a great Thanksgiving 🙂
We just used ground turkey from the grocery store and that worked fine.
Those photos of you all in the chef hats and aprons are priceless. 🙂 Thanks for sharing them, and the recipe too.
It’s not just how you bake, it’s how you look 😉 Happy Thanksgiving!
Look at Bailie in her hat!! Bless they look almost as good as some of my treats ;0)
🙂 They were really yummy!
Garlic is poisonous to dogs so I don’t understand why you would use garlic powder in a dog treat.
