We didn’t tell anyone because Mom doesn’t like to advertise when we go on vacation, but we went to Florida for two weeks. We know lots of bloggers in Florida, but it just so happened that this trip we got to meet Gizmo and his mom Beth from Terrier Torrent. They drove down to our place in Fort Myers to visit us. I was really excited to meet them and thought I should have some kind of a gift. Gizmo is a guy, guys usually like beer, so I decided to bring a six pack of Bowser Brew (dog beer) with me for our meet up.
Well, I guess I found the only guy that doesn’t like beer. He found my gesture nice but said no thank you to the beer. My sisters and I love the beer. Since Bailie is a speed eater and drinker, she finished hers and decided to try to finish off mine, but I let her know that was not going to happen!
Gizmo’s mom brought some really tasty Cloud Star Gingerbread Christmas Buddy Biscuits Cloud Star Gingerbread Christmas Buddy Biscuits along, and we were able to sample them and let her know our thoughts. We loved them, and couldn’t seem to get enough of them! They even smelled so good, the humans wanted to try them!
We then decided to go to a park to take a nice walk. We found that many parks in Fort Myers do not allow dogs which was very disappointing, but we did finally find a nice place where we could all go for a good walk. We got out at the John Yarbrough Linear Park which had a trail running along a creek on one side and some marshy area on the other.
It was really warm out, mid 80’s, but this trail was pretty shady, so it wasn’t too bad. I saw lots of squirrels. As usual, they all got away from me since I still haven’t mastered tree climbing.
We walked and walked, it was a nice area, but we were all getting so thirsty. Bailie won the prize for longest tongue I think! We knew there was water waiting for us back at the car, so we finally headed back. On the way back Beth pointed out to us that there was an alligator in the creek. Mom has reptile phobia, so that made her walk a bit faster back to the car. We were happy that gator just stayed in the water too. Luckily we didn’t see a snake or that would have been too much for Mom. We rarely walk outside our neighborhood when we are in Florida because of Mom’s fear of reptiles.
It was really great to actually meet a blog buddy in person! Mom met lots of blog friends at BlogPaws, but since I was left behind, I didn’t get that chance. BlogPaws 2014…look out…Emma is on her way!
Get your ears up and listen! The Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers, an amazing and super funtastic blogging event is starting on December 1, and runs to December 24. Walking is a great activity to do with friends! Grab a friend, get your dog on a leash, and go for a nice walk! When you are done, walk over to the FitDog Friday blog hop sponsored by SlimDoggy, Peggy’s Pet Place and To Dog With Love Stop by and see what other dogs are doing to stay fit!
Emma Blogpaws is going to be great next year. We know not only will you have fun but you’ll meet and make lots of friends. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
I’m really excited to go. I know I will have a great time!
Nice Walk & nice to catch up with a buddy you know via blogging. And what a great reason to go exploring all together – happy that your mum braved her fear of critters to do it 🙂
Yeah, walking in Florida isn’t really her favorite thing.
What a great vacay! So glad you got to meet Beth and Gizmo and that you took such fantastic photos 🙂
It was a lot of fun!
That’s great that you got to meet Gizmo and Beth. I am surprised that there was no Geo-caching going on. Or maybe there was? Perhaps the alligator was the cache 😉 ?
No geo caching…that is not our thing. Just walking and hanging out was enough fun.
Two weeks in Florida…what fun! Can’t wait to hear more about it. That is so great that you got to meet Gizmo, Emma. Too bad he didn’t like your beer, but I’m sure he appreciated your effort! 🙂
That jut meant more beer for us 🙂 It was a fun vacation!
It is really a Thanksgiving a Holiday when you all getto spend it together!
That’s absolutely correct.
You really met Gizmo and his mom in pawson? Wow! And you met a real alligator? Wow! Wow! I never saw one (only at dad’s shirt). What a super adventure you had. Please tell mea all about your trip and about Gizmo :o)
It was lots of fun and some great experiences, a really good vacation!
BOL…You guys look so thirsty. Florida would be awesome with all that warm weather though. Lucky pups. And to meet a friend, that’s even better.
We aren’t big fans of the hot weather, but it was fun anyway!
Welcome to the Sunshine State! 🙂 Long drive to Ft. Meyers, eh? I am on the other side of the state in the Space Center area. The mom’s cousin lives in Ft. Meyers. It was cold here this morning and I crawled under the blanket and got close to the mom. That was special for us. xoxo Maggie the PBGV
Thanksgiving was 42 in the morning but perfect weather and we like the colder temps anyway. Other than the long drive it was awesome!
That’s so cool! We love meeting up for walks with our bloggie pals. Let us know if you’re ever near Atlanta!
Your pals,
Diane and Rocco
We drove through on the trip twice, but did not stop. Maybe one day we will.
I really understand gizmo. I do not like the beer either. I got one once, of my family. I am lucky to have an always hungry and thirsty dog friend Benn, and he got my beer. He loved it.
Bowser beer is awesome, can’t imagine a dog that doesn’t like it, but Gizmo did not.
What a great time you all had. How fun to get to meet a blogging buddy. We can’t wait for the advent thingy that sounds fun!
Millie & Walter
It is fun meeting dogs that you only know online! Tomorrow is the start of the Advent event! Yay!!! It will be pawsome!
OMD… you got to meet Gizmo! Looks like you guys are having a fabulous time there too. I have some of those gingerbread biscuits too, and I actually DID try a bite lol… they were pretty tasty I suppose. Can’t believe Gizmo doesn’t like beer!
Amazing a guy that doesn’t drink beer! It was fun meeting him, we had a great time and those cookies were fab!
What super fun and you got to meet Gizmo our Buddie 🙂 xxooxxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Yep I did, and we drank a beer for you 😉
Sounds brilliant, you are so lucky you all got to have a meet up!
It was a fun time for sure!
I’m so jealous that you go to got to meet up with my boydawg Gizmo, looks like you had a great time!
We had a great meet up. He is super nice and well behaved, just didn’t like beer.
You will have lots of fun at Blogpaws Emma, I’m sorry I won’t be able to meet you!!
But that’s wicked cool that you got to meet Gizmo.
You aren’t going? My mom will be bummed to hear that!
How nice that you got to meet up with Gizmo and Beth. Looks like a fine party with snacks and a walk in a fun place. ugg on the gator!
Those reptiles do put a damper on some fun down there but overall, we had a great time!
How great that you met Gizmo! He lives not too awfully far away from me, but I never go in that direction. I met him at BarkWorld though, and he is a cutie! Looks like you had a great time! =)
I thought you were in the “Mickey Mouse” part of Florida. Bailie’s mom is from Howie in the Hills which is somewhere by Orlando, then she moved to Missouri.
I’m in Bradenton, just south of Tampa. =)
Had I known, we could have honked as we drove by 😉
