*** Just a quick notice: If you are in the Twin Cities and would like to meet me, I will be at the Lakeville Heritage Center on Saturday, December 7, from 9am to 3pm. I will have a table to sell pawtographed books, calendars, and a few other items. I would love to meet some of my online friends, so feel free to stop by!***
We have a great house in Florida, lots of places to walk around the community, but we don’t have a fenced yard. Mom says that here it is too dangerous to let us hang out in the yard because there are lots of alligators that might just eat us alive. We saw this alligator at the pond by our house when we were on a walk. I wanted to pose, but Mom said it would be too dangerous, so it is just the alligator in the photo that she snapped with her phone camera. Instead of a yard, we hang out around the pool in the pool cage when we are in Florida.
What is a dog to do in a pool cage?
Sit around and look beautiful. Thank you to my friend Elvis that sent me these super fun hats! I love that little guy!
Wear a smiley hat and smile big to match your hat.
Relax with your sisters at the pool.
Enjoy some Bowser brew while grilling something tasty in your outdoor kitchen.
Work on your balancing skills on a floating mattress in the pool.
Dream about racing through the grass with your little sister while your big sister snoozes.
Check out the jumbo watermelon and wait for Mom to cut it open.
After almost two weeks, we really did miss racing around out yard, but had a lot of fun in the pool cage!

That was one ugly prehistoric looking creature!
Thanks so much for joining TNT! Love the pictures (even the one of the scary gator!). You sure have a nice out door kitchen and pool. Good job balancing on the floating mattress Emma. Bailie looks in awe! lol
I wasn’t real sure about it, but Bailie is a total surfer dog…she loved it. More on that tomorrow…working our core!
You have a very smart mother and that is one beautiful dog cage!
Thanks, but it is just not the same running on tile…grass feels much better under the paws!
I used to float on raft when I was a youngster! I used to like to swim too. The mom took me in the pool after I hurt my shoulder to do water therapy which was okay. That was one scary, mean looking ‘gator. The mom (an FSU grad) says this year ‘Gators will do anything to score a win…for sure…stay away from them! XOXO Maggie the PBGV
Mom didn’t want to get involved with him. No matter what folks say, she doesn’t trust an ugly prehistoric creature!
Oh that all looks fantastic!! Look how big Bailie is getting, WOW. I love your hats Emma, you look mahvelous dahling.
Bailie is almost as big as I am, just not filled out and waiting for more fur 😉
LOL great hats! Looks like you guys are livin it up!! Enjoy!
We are #11 in the blog hop, if you get a chance to come by!
Hi, thanks for stopping by. I will race over to your page next. We did live the good life there on vacation!
I love the huge gator! And am glad it didn’t eat y’all. 🙂
I don’t want to be any gator’s lunch! We did see gator dog treats at PetCo in Fort Myers! I don’t think you should get a gator, though, it might harm your ducks.
That sure looks like fun. Tell me Emma, is it your house or do you rent it from someone? If it’s your house, do you rent it to others? I have a hard time finding places that will take dogs and let them in the pool. 😀
It is our house. It has been rented out a few times but not much. If you want more details email me.
Oh and remind me when I see you to tell you the time I mistook a palm frond for a gator. 😀
That sounds like a good story 🙂
Now for the big question, do you guys swim? In the pool I mean, not the gator infested ponds!
Sadly, we would rather swim in the pond but that is not allowed per Mom. The pool isn’t much fun since we don’t enjoy fetch games. For a retriever that wants to jump, swim, grab ball, swim and repeat it would be more fun. After the first step in, it is over our heads, so we have to swim and can’t just romp. Tomorrow we have photos and video of what we do in the pool, Monday we will have our beach adventure. The beach or a pond is more fun because we can race around and swim sometimes too. Bailie did fall in the pool a few times. She dog paddled until Mom would get to her and haul her out.
Haha, of course the pup would cause poolside mischief. Looking forward to checking everything out.
That Bailie is a little devil disguised as a cute puppy!
I looove the picture with you on the sun beds. And the gator pic to. really scary.
We do enjoy taking it easy and living the good lazy dog life 😉 gator free, of course.
This gator-guy looks hungry, better be careful :o) btw: can you send me the gator? think I could place it in my bathtub, then I haven’t to take a bath :o)
I would love to send you the gator but I don’t know how I would capture it without being eaten. It did not look real friendly, but that would be a good anti bath plan!
I’m glad you stay safe away from the alligators, Emma! Hanging out in the pool cage looks pretty awesome to me….what a nice place you have!
The pool cage is fun, but we missed our yard for chase and wrestle games.
We don’t have alligators in Texas. I’m glad too because I think seeing one like that would freak me out!
That is one of the smaller ones around the area. Mom is too scared to dare to photograph the larger ones.
Steer clear of that alligator Emma…it’ll take little Bailie in one bite! It looks like you had a great time in FL!
We did have a pretty good time. Much better than our last trip. We got to do more stuff and we stayed longer.
Nice! Are these photos recent? How lucky you are to get to hang out at a pool this time of year. 🙂
You are fit for the pool life! Watch out for those gators though! Wooooowooooooo!
They are creepy! We don’t like them at all!
Darn! Wish I lived closer to you to meet you! I’m sorry but that gator is scaring me!
No kidding, Mom was a nervous mess getting that pic, but she had to have it.
You look GREAT in those hats… perfect for the lazy life by the pool. Vacations are fun but it’s always nice to get home.
Thanks, we love them. We are happy to be home but Bailie wants to go back to Florida. She doesn’t like the cold right now.
I keep telling my husband that we can’t move south because if it weren’t for suffering through horrible winters, we wouldn’t appreciate the summer so much. But I have to admit your pictures made me reconsider.
Honey would be happy to pretend to be a GBGV if it got her a spot with her Mama in that pool cage. 🙂
BTW, Mel Freer of No Dog About It lives near St. Paul. You should get in touch with her before your trip.
I don’t know her personally, but most of her pictures are from a dog park about 10 mins from our house, so she must live fairly close by. We enjoyed the vacation but wouldn’t want to live there full time. We would miss the seasons and it is quite restrictive for dogs there compared to here in MN. We have considered moving a few times but when we test it out, we always realize how good we have it where we are.
Ooo cool! Too bad I’m so far away. Would love to meet you in dog. 🙂
Also thanks for hopping onto This N That Thursday Blog Hop. See you next week (if not earlier!)
PS- funny pic of the watermelon!
It would be kind of a drive to meet me for you 😉 Thanks for hosting the hop. I was at your blog a couple times yesterday but I did not see a new post, just the contest from last week so I didn’t comment.
Looks like you had fun in Florida. People I knew when I lived there for 3 years a looong time ago, had to call wildlife to get gaters out of their pools! But I love to go there on vacation, the girls would hate the heat:-)
The pool cage keeps most critters out, thankfully. We don’t mind a bit of heat, but we aren’t big summer fans and neither is our mom, so we won’t be moving south. It is fine for a vacation but that is enough for us.
Yikes, that gator! Glad you stayed by the pool! Plus, you all looked so cute 🙂
I know, pretty ugly and creepy!
OMD! Wouldn’t want to meet that gator on a dark night lol.
Looks like you had a fab time though
They usually come out only during the midday when it is hot and sunny, but we didn’t test that information and stayed clear of the water at night.
Looks lovely!!
Thanks, it is pretty there.
That hat is so cool! Also looks like some beautiful weather, much nice than up here in the Northeast!
We were lucky to have two weeks of gorgeous weather. Just a shower or two at night.
I would sooooo be IN that pool! I’m jealous of your pool cage. Thanks for sharing it though.
We wish is was shallow so we could run and splash, but it is deep, so we have to swim if we go in.
That alligator looks scary! Good thing your mom is taking good care of you and not letting you run around where the gators could get you!
They are ugly and don’t really give off warm, fuzzy vibes!
