Here we are getting close to crunch time for Christmas which means I best get out of my cuddle bed and show Bailie how to make Christmas cookies! I will be the master baking chef as always and she can be my elf assistant. This year we are going to make what we call, reindeer biscuits. They really have nothing to do with reindeer, but they are for Christmas and they have oats which reindeer like to eat, thus their name.
I got all the ingredients out on the counter before we got started. Bailie seemed to be fixated on the peanut butter, she always has food on her mind!
Next I mixed all the ingredients together in the order the recipe stated, starting with the dry ingredients. I had to take a good look to make sure that the dough formed a ball so it would be suitable for rolling out. Bailie remained determined to get the peanut butter jar open – a one track puppy mind!
Rolling out the dough is the hard part as my elf wanted to just eat it as is. She still hasn’t learned to wait for the finished, baked product. Hopefully she will get some patience as she gets older. Baking is not an on demand activity…puppies these days want everything like yesterday!
Using our favorite Christmas shapes we cut out the tasty cookies one after another. You can make them any size you want. We went mostly with mid-sized shapes. Mom said we shouldn’t use our squirrel or wabbit cookie cutters since they aren’t Christmasy, bummer!
Here is a quick recap of the process.
And now for the moment we have been drooling about…the taste test, and yes, they passed! These are definite winners and something you could leave out for Santa’s reindeer on Christmas Eve. We figure Santa really doesn’t need to eat, he is pretty well rounded but those reindeer are in top shape and working hard, so why not reward them? Click here to get the downloadable pdf recipe complete with a baking photo of Bailie and I!
Don’t just sit there…send your mom to the store to get you the ingredients and start baking. This batch will be gone in no time, so we will have to make some more!

Thank you…if you think the photos are nice, you should try the baked goods…yummy in a doggy tummy!
Puppies these days, huh, Emma?! So impatient. I’m sure you’ll get her trained to be a better assistant chef soon. Thanks for the great recipe. It makes it really convenient to just print out the PDF so thanks for always doing that. We hope to try these for Christmas!
Enjoy, they are easy and super yummy. Glad you appreciate being able to print out the recipe, I always wonder if people like that or not.
Those cookies sure look yummy! Emma, you are a cute baker and your assistant isn’t so bad either. π
Thanks, you should make some, they are great!
Emma, you are a magnificent baker! The mom says you could have been her assistant at school (she taught home economics.) She used to call me her “little home economist” because I used to want to help her here at home when she baked. Bailie, you are totally food obsessed! XOXO, Maggie the PBGV
Bailie is off the charts these days, I have to have a dog to dog chat with her I think. I love to bake, so thank you for the compliment.
Emma, are you sure you were just “taking a good look” at the batter and not sneaking a “taste-test” of the batter while your assistant was conveniently preoccupied with the peanut butter?!? BOL Those look yummy and so cute as Christmas trees. (Next time tell your mom that rabbit shapes are just fine for Christmas…ever hear of a snow bunny?!? BOL)
Happy Tuesday!
Oz
Mom has called me a snow bunny when I have been covered in snow π Shhh…don’t tell that I had to taste the dough. Good bakers always do a taste test to make sure things are just right!
I love how you all just sit in front of the plate to have your picture taken without running for the wonderful cookies. You are so well behaved.
Even though Bailie is flunking out of obedience school she does have a few things down well, that would be stay, sit and down!
Boy! Those do look yummy!! Thanks for sharing!
I wish I could share the actual cookies but I got in trouble trying to push them into the cd rom drive on the computer – LOL!
Well, thanks for trying. I guess I’ll have to get the Mom Person to make our own.
But Emma, what is Santa is a little tired and hungry after delivering thousands of presents? Maybe he needs his treats too? I would not want to make the big Man angry… π
Thanks so much for your wishes for Milou! We appreciate so much!
Just saying that he doesn’t look like he really needs cookies but I think the reindeer deserve them for their hard work. Maybe the cats will leave out Santa some food.
These are some of the best pics I’ve seen this holiday season!! Such good pupcooks they are!
Thank you, I love to bake and I do a pretty decent job too I must say!
I’m so glad you’re training an assistant. Take some of the pressure off you always having to cook. They look yummy too!
As long as she behaves she is good to have around. I just can’t trust her with the dough…yet…
Those look delicious!!! I’m going to ask my mom to make those for me!!
You will love them and she can use smaller cookie cutters since you are smaller π
LOVE< LOVE
Thank you! Happy Tasty Tuesday!
Katie looks like she’ll be grumpy if she doesn’t get a cookie soon. I bet they smell delicious! You’re such a good baker, Emma. I wish you could come over and teach my dogs how to do it. =)
Katie is just grumpy a lot…I think it is an old age thing, but she sure smiles when she gets a cookie. She is lucky I bake for us π
Haha I love how the elf is staring at the food with such intensity in every photo! Don’t have to be a mind reader to know what Bailie wants.
She is so very food obsessed it is crazy!
They sure look yummy!
They are, almost gone already!
Yummy, lucky you to get that delicious cookies.
We are lucky dogs!
Those pics are SO cute! And I can’t believe how good you gals are – just sitting politely in front of a WHOLE PLATE of cookies! You earned those treats that you worked so hard on!
We may not be the most obedient dogs, but we do have stay down pretty well π
Bailie was a PAWsome assistant. Looks like Katie can’t wait to taste it. Happy Tasty Tuesday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Thanks for hosting, we love this blog hop!
Emma looks like you did an excellent job even with Bailey’s help. My girls hate peanut butter and for some reason won’t eat and hard biscuits (cookies) even if they are in some of their favorite flavors. Glad you did such a good job and we enjoyed by all π
Wow, they sound like my mom. She is one of very few humans that doesn’t like nuts or peanut butter at all. Won’t eat anything with peanut butter. No allergies, just doesn’t like it.
You guys are too cute! Love Bailie’s little elf hat, like she’s Santa’s helper hehe.
Santa Emma’s little helper…trying to eat raw cookies…
Bailie makes a very cute elf! It doesn’t sound as though she was a lot of help though, Emma.
She is only six months old, so she still has lots of learning to do. Just watching me, I’m sure she is learning.
I wish Mama would let me be a baker! WOL! π
She should definitely let you bake, baking is great fun and tasty!
Great recipe Emma, you sure are working hard to train little Miss Bailie!!
I have to make sure she turns out okay since I have to live with her π
I’m not one to bake dog cookies but your Christmas baking photos are fantastic!
I think the cookies tasted even better than the photos looked! Not everyone is into baking and that is okay. Maybe Chester and Gretel could do it on their own???
