Today I am turning over my blog for the very first time to my little sister Bailie. Actually, she can’t type yet and is not good at spelling, so she is dictating this post to me about her first trip to a dog park.
A week ago, Mom said that we were going to have some Mom and Bailie alone time. Every now and then we each get to do something special and alone with Mom. Her idea was to take me to a dog park for the first time.
Emma and Katie have told me a lot about dog parks, so I was pretty excited to give it a try. Mom thought it would be best for me to try it out alone first as my big sisters can sometimes be rather protective of me and we didn’t need any trouble the first time out. She decided to take me to Alimagnet Park since is it pretty close to where we live and it is not too big.
As we pulled into the parking lot I could hear and see dogs all over the place. I was a bit scared to get out of the car, but Mom assured me that it was all cool and there were supposed to be a lot of dogs at a dog park.
I was feeling pretty small and shy I must say. I wished my sisters were with me to act as body guards. The moment we got into this fenced park some big dogs approached and gave me a complete sniff over. I stood still, tail between my legs and did not move.
Somehow it seemed like all the dogs there knew each other as no one was afraid except for me. I managed to get off the beaten path to have alone sniffing time. That was nice and relaxed me a bit too.
I came across two puppies that were about my size. They were wrestling like crazy. I wanted to join in, but they kind of told me that two is fun, three is a crowd, so I moved on.
There was a Husky dog wandering around by himself, so I decided to say “woof” to him. We sniffed for a moment and then I moved on.
I was starting to get cold as it wasn’t really a warm day out and I wasn’t doing much running around. We decided to head back to the car. I still don’t have a real adult fur coat, so Mom makes sure I am not out too long in the cold.
The best part of the whole adventure was that we met Cindy with her dogs Orlando and Wyatt. At first Mom was a bit freaked out because someone was calling out that Bailie was there and who would know me? It turns out that Cindy and her dogs follow Emma’s blog and they recognized me. Orlando and Wyatt were very nice to me and Orlando even posed for this photo with me. Isn’t he a funny guy with all that long curly fur? Wyatt was a super cool looking dude, but he was too busy chasing around to stop for a photo with a “baby”. They were sad that Emma wasn’t along but they were thrilled to at least meet me. I was so excited to get home and tell Emma all about them!
My take on dog parks is that they are scary. Next time I will take at least one of my sisters with me I think and maybe we can go to their favorite park instead of this one. I was able to stand up tall and get my tail out from between my legs once we got back to the car. It was fun having an outing with Mom, but next time I hope we get to do something less scary! On the way home we did stop at the pet store and I got to pick out a cookie to eat in the car, that was fun!
Thanks for letting me post on your blog today, big sis! You are so cool, I love you and want to grow up to be just like you!

Oh it is too bad you didn’t have fun at the park Bailie. I bet next time it will be better. 🙂
It was quite intimidating.
We hope the next trip is less scary for you. Onwards and upwards we say.Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Mom says I need to get out alone a bit more. I rely too much on my sisters.
Next time I think your mom has to take Emma and Katie, so they can show you how to run in the park.
She meant well taking me alone, but it was intimidating.
These adventures can be scary for a young pawpster! Take small puppy steps, Bailie, as you grow and explore the big world. Thank you, Emma, for writing for Bailie and sharing your blog. PS I gets scared a lot too! XOXO Maggie the PBGV
It is hard to be a puppy sometimes, but I know it can be fun because my sisters have told me about that part of dog parks.
I think next time will be better especially if you take Emma and Katie with you. But don’t forget Mom would not let anything happen to you- she loves you to much!
I was glad that at least Mom was with me. All alone would have been really too much!
I’m glad you had fun and faced the scary stuff. It’s also really cool that you met some of your fans and took time to pose with them! Stay warm, Bailie!

I’m all snuggled in my bed as it is super cold out again -20 with the wind chill, but I have to go out sometimes to use the bathroom.
Well done Bailie, first time at anything can be a bit scary, Your mom is right though, you need to get out on your own a bit. I love having alone time with my mom and a trip to the pet store? Well, you can’t beat that!
You were very wise to take it slow. Hope next time will be a little bit less scary for you!
It is sure scary with all those big dogs around!
Sounds like you had a good time even though you were a little slow at meeting the other dogs! That was probably a good idea to take it slow! Orlando is one handsome guy dog! Cute pic of the two of you!
He is like a romping fluff ball!
Bailie, it’s OK. Torrey was like that when she was young and her first dog park visit. Now she loves it, and plays chase with the other dogs. You’ll grow up and get used to it, then it will be fun.
I was afraid a school my first time or two as well.
The first few trips to the dog park are always a bit overwhelming. Eko spent most of his first time at the park huddled in between my legs. It’s so great to see confidence build, and I’m sure Bailie will be romping around the park in no time.
Mom says I’m a terror, but my guts are boosted by my body guards…I’m sure it will be better next time.
Aww, don’t worry, you’ll be confident going to a dog park soon enough. Your Mom did a good thing taking you by yourself, it’s always good to learn how to do things on your own. Though it can be more fun with a friend or sisters. 😉
She doesn’t want us all to be too dependent on each other, but I like relying on them for protection.
It was so awesome to get to meet you Bailie! Wyatt and I were excited to meet a celebrity! Mom told us you were one so we got extra excited. Mom also loved meeting your Mom and chatting to her about Emma’s blog and how cute you two are! Mom wants a GBGV but has us so she will have to wait. We hope we get to meet Emma and Katie soon! Thanks for taking my picture! I think we look cute together. We look like we are looking for Wyatt the crazy dog!
This comment should have been from me – Orlando! Not my Mom Cindy. I got so excited to see my picture that I typed her name instead of mine.
You are such a cute flopping, romping fur ball. Thanks for having the patience to sit with a baby like me 🙂
Wyatt was sure having fun. I might be more wild myself on my next time out. I think from now on I will bring at least one sister with me for confidence. It was great meeting you two and your mom. My mom was thrilled, Emma was a bit bummed she missed you but maybe we will meet again.
Aw, don’t worry Bailie. Even humans feel that way when they go to parties where they don’t know anybody. It will get easier, and you get a chance to make new friends!
Everyone says it will be more fun next time, I will have to see about that.
How exciting for such a growing puppy! I wish we had a dog park but our mayor has been holding it up in the courts for over a year. Maybe someday my boys will be able to mingle and play with others! It sure sounds like a fun time. Merry Christmas to you and your darling GBGVs!
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and your family – furry and human. My sisters don’t go all that often, but once every month or so is good.
So nice of you to have your own adventure in the dog park. And so cool that you met a fan!
It is a scary place but Orlando and Wyatt were really nice to me!
I bet it gets a lot easier Bailie now that you’ve done it once. You were very brave. And at least you got a cookie!
Next time I have to take a sister with me, that will make it less scary.
Next time will be better, especially if your sisters are there. Great your Mom spends quality time with you and takes you to play outside. X Talent Hounds
We get lots of play time, and it is fun to be an only dog sometimes.
You are a good story teller, Bailie! Your sister is training you well. A lot of things are pretty scary when we do them for the first time, so hopefully next time will be better for you. It’s always good to have some one-on-one time with Mom though! It’s pretty cool that you met some of Emma’s fans!
Meeting fans was a total surprise and really fun!
The dog park can be a little bit scary, but it looks like you have a lovely one to go to! And you’re such a star! Being recognized while you’re out in public!
I know! Mom and I were so surprised! I guess because we are not your usual breed we are easier to recognize.
Next time it won’t be new and maybe not so scary sweetie.
And next time I want to bring my sisters for support.
I bet that when you go next time you will have a bit more fun Bailie!
How fun that you got to meet someone that follows your blog!
I think Mom had the most fun at the dog park that day. It was totally unexpected running into someone that knew us from the blog and since Mom’s photo hadn’t been on there at that time, it was just us dogs that people would need to recognize. I think all three or maybe just two of us would be easy to spot but to know just one was pretty amazing!
Lots of snow! Too much fun out there friend!
We love snow! So far this month, we have gotten at least a dusting almost every day. It is wonderful!
Dog parks can be somewhat intimidating to some dogs. But you had your mom there and she wouldn’t let anything happen to you! Our dog park is separated so that small dogs and big dogs don’t interact.
I don’t want to be with the small dogs and there was nothing going on there anyway. Mom says I have to learn to be on my own sometimes. I will give it another try one of these days.
