Being a dog, I’m not real interested in where I have been and where I’m headed. I live for the moment, but once a year I like to see what I have been up to and check out some of my statistics. I am not a numbers creature, so I really only check my stats when someone asks for them except for the end of the year. When I was on wordpress.com, they sent me all my stats at the end of the year, but now that I am self-hosted, I am on my own and use Google Analytics which is a bit more complicated for a dog to paw through.
I figured it would be a lengthy chore, so I asked Bunny to join me and I got some snacks to munch on. Snacks make work much more fun! The first thing I figured out from that ocean of numbers is that in 2013, I had about three times as many people visiting my blog as I did in 2012! I was shocked and almost choked on a Buddy Biscuit when I realized that one! That is awesome and I only have you, my readers and fans to thank for it!
Next, I wanted to see where my readers come from. I have readers from all over the world, which in itself is amazing! I decided to just list the top ten countries below.
- USA – 78%
- UK
- Canada
- Netherlands
- Australia
- France
- Germany
- New Zealand
- Denmark
- Philippines
I also looked at statistics by month and found every month had more views/visits than the previous month, but June, July, and August had the smallest increases. I guess people are much busier in the summer months, no time to read blogs, not even my blog 🙁
The most interesting statistic I like to howl about is the top ten blog posts of the year list! 2013 had some big events in my life starting with being on actual packaging at Target, getting a baby sister, and publishing my first book. Two of these three events did make the top ten. Another thing that stands out is my baking. Four of the top ten posts are baking posts. I guess my readers like to bake and eat as much as I do! Three of the top ten posts are Advent Calendar for Dog Lovers posts which is not a surprise since there are such pawsome prizes to win! Now for the list – you can click on the links if you would like to visit any of the posts.

Now that you have seen, my most popular posts for the year, do any of my readers have topics they would like to suggest? I’m always open to suggestions. You can always leave a comment if you have an idea of something fun or educational you would like me to post about. I do read all the comments that are left on my blog and I try to respond to each one of them. Comments mean a lot to me.
I read a lot of great blogs every day. I was going to list some of my favorites, but I couldn’t really narrow it down. I guess you know me if I read your blog and I try my best to stop by and read all the posts of blogs I follow and comment when I have something to howl about. Through reading other blogs I learn a lot and also gain inspiration. The blogging community is such a wonderful place filled with so many great pets and humans, I’m thankful to be a part of it.
My original goal for blogging and social media was just to see how it all worked together and to spread the word about my wonderful breed, the GBGV. I blog because Mom loves to take photos, especially of me, and I love to write. I am ecstatic that so many people follow me! I never thought I would ever be at the point I am at now. I want to keep growing, but my main focus will remain – having a good time bringing smiles, laughter, and sometimes advice to my readers. I look forward to seeing all of you and sharing my adventures in 2014!
Since I’m following up, I have joined the Follow Up Friday Blog Hop. A big thanks to Heart Like A Dog for hosting.
Sounds like you had a great year! Congrats. Of course people want to see you cook those yummy recipes and learn about your book. 🙂
2013 was a great year…now 2014 has to top that! I better get back to my baking 😉
Great year , we are thinking of doing a sniff to the 2013 too 😀
It’s fun to see what all the stats have to say.
Very cool to see that year-end breakdown. You definitely earned every visit with all your awesome content. I really enjoy the short videos you have posted of all three pups playing together, so always looking forward to more of those.
My ultimate goal is one video a week, but it is not always easy. Hopefully we can get one put together in our new tunnel for next week. The web is going to video, so we need to practice and get Mom working on her filming and editing skills 😉 Nothing beats your videos, they are our favorites of all time!
Sounds like a great year! Interesting how many countries your visitors come from! =D
It is amazing, they read about me from all around the world!
Quite a global audience there and well deserved. Look forward to all you have to say in 2014.
Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
Hopefully I will find a lot to howl about next year!
What an exciting year for you and your mom! We hope 2014 proves to be even more successful.
We never know what will happen. We don’t have real big plans but we will see what our paws find!
Emma, those are all fantastic posts! I especially love your baking posts because 1) they make me drool with jealousy since my Ma cannot bake (though she did make a bread and butter pudding for Christmas this year!!) and 2) because the photos in those posts are perfect! I also love your finding Snoopy posts – those are always fun. Oh, and your photos are always terrierific!
I cannot wait to see what you write about in 2014!

Thank you so much Oz! I guess since I am a good model it helps…now if Mom would get better with the camera I would be all set. She is improving. I’m sure we will find lots of fun stuff in 2014.
What a great list of posts! Looks like recipes are pretty popular at your blog, which is no surprise. You are a great chef! I can’t really think of any good suggestions for you because your posts are already wonderful. Just keep up the good work Emma!
Thank you so much, too bad I can’t share my baked goods over the internet…need a scratch and sniff app I guess.
What a great follow-up Emma, thanks for joining the blog hop.
I went self-hosted in August of 2012 but I did still get an e-mail from WordPress, I wonder if that was just covering the first 8 months? I’m going to be checking my e-mail (including the junk folder) to see if I get them again. I have google analytics but I can never remember my password….LOL
You had some wonderful posts this year and you always have such wonderful photos, it’s no wonder your blog is growing by leaps and bounds! Keep up the great work.
Thank you. Actually, I’m not sure of my password either and Mom did not make a note of it, but we are lucky that it just goes in without a password, so as long as that keeps working, I am in business 😉 I may get that year end thing from the first 5 months of the year. A switching year is kind of all jumbled, but the stats on posts and visitors seemed to be from the whole year. I am not a numbers dog at all!
You are really rockin’ it Emma!!!
I’m pretty happy with myself since I am a dog 😉
Your blog is awesome Emma and we love visiting it!
Thank you! We love reading about you and all that goes on at your house. We hope 2014 is a great year for you and your family!
It’s really interesting to learn about your friends and readers! We did a survey not long ago and the results were fascinating and fun! Great job, Emma!!!
Merry Belated Christmas & Happy New Year!
love,
Glogirly, Katie & Waffles
Thanks you all! Hope you are enjoying the holidays, we love the snow, but I’m guessing you kitties would prefer sunbeams to lie in 🙂 Happy Howlidays!
Me and my mom loves to read your blog.
Thank you, that makes me happy )
Beautiful exciting year you had Emma, here’s to a fun filled 2014 with many more adventures.
Hopefully lots of good adventures!
Happy New Year! It’s so interesting being able to see all the info from Google Analytics…can’t wait to do our year-end wrap up again this year, too. Always a few surprises!
We only have a partial year since we didn’t go to self hosted until May, but it is still interesting to see how things change and what different choices you make and how they change the stats.
What a fab year you’ve had Ems. Just keep doing what you’re doing xx
Thank you, I plan to just keep having more fun 🙂
What a great round up of the year! Love that you have those snacks handy while you blog, Emma 🙂 Kind of surprised none of your Snoopy sculpture posts made it into the top ten.
Everyone seemed to love them, but they never got really high viewing numbers, more middle of the pack. That is the odd thing with posting. Sometimes I think I have the winner of all ideas and it is a flop, other times I’m not even sure if I should post something and it is a huge success. You just never know!
I didn’t get this post on Friday but glad I was just looking through some of you past post and found this. Very interesting information. I look forward to reading your blog everyday – it makes me and Katie happy. So please, keep them coming!
I plan to keep pawing away at my keyboard. I enjoy posting, it is a lot of fun, so as long as people enjoy reading I plan to post.
