We are a family of winter lovers! Mom loves the cold and snow and so do us dogs, as a matter of fact, it is our favorite season. Now having just gone through that whole “Polar Vortex” thing, you may think my GBGV brain froze, but it did not. We love to be out in the cold and snow, sit by the fireplace in the evenings, eat lots of comfort food, and enjoy watching snow fall. I will agree that a 7am walk in -26F with a -53F wind chill is a bit of a rude awakening, but who needs coffee after being out in that for ten minutes?
This photo isn’t exactly beautiful, but it is me enjoying a beautiful season filled with cold and snow. One thing is for sure – with the super cold weather we have gorgeous clear blue skies and sunshine!
Sometimes things get a bit frosty and that can produce true beauty like this dried, frozen Hydrangea flower.
The pine needles with the red brick backdrop are quite pretty.
The branch of a bush really shows off the sparkling frost and ice crystals.
My beautiful sister Katie with some snow on her nose.
Lastly, to be fair I have to post a photo of little sis Bailie out in the snow looking cute.
What would I like you to learn from this post? If life gives you winter, don’t lock yourself indoors and growl about it. Get out there with four open paws! Explore it, play in it, find the beauty in it. Winter is a beautiful season that seems to have gotten a bad reputation. We spend more time outdoors in the winter than in the summer. There is so much to do, see, and experience. Pack on the layers if you don’t have nice fur like I do, and head out to see the beauty before you.
To all my blog peeps out there, tomorrow I will be posting my Pet Blogger Challenge post rather than today. I wanted to do See Beautiful today. Lately there are so many blog hops I want to join and often they are on the same day which makes it kind of tough for a pup to decide!
I want to especially thank Sugar, her mom, and Lydia at See Beautiful for sending us the bumper sticker and all natural mimosa soap. Please don’t be offended if I give the soap to my mom as I really dislike getting all cleaned up. I think it was intended for humans anyway. We love you Sugar and wish you all the best, and we are so happy to hear the update in your post this morning!
Today I am joining the {This Moment} See Beautiful blog hop which is the 2nd Friday of every month. The purpose is to share what we see that is beautiful and brings meaning to our life.
Those are some gorgeous polar vortex pictures. Now mom is a heat lover and can’t even bear to go outside in these frigid temps luckily we are in agreement and have been doing are business quickly.
Retro rover
I think you just adjust when you live in a place like Minnesota. Today it is in the 20’s and I was wanting to take my fur off it feels so warm – LOL!
Such beautiful images. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
Thank you π
Oh, Emma, you have little snowballs on your snoot! Rosie approves π And beautiful photos!
My winter nickname is snowball as I have them all over myself!
You and your sisters sure are beautiful Emma. And I have to admit those side benefits of winter (fire & comfort food) aren’t quite the same here in SoCal.
Being out in the cold burns more calories…another reason to love winter. Eating all that comfort food means more exercise, but it feels good to work out in that cold crisp air.
I love the winter! I make sure my bipeds wrap up warm when I take them out for their exercise.
I love the photos of you all with the snow!
Mom loves the cold, she doesn’t bundle up as much as most humans, but she isn’t cold either.
Absolutely beautiful! I learned to love winter when I was a pet sitter. These are beautiful!
Thanks. It is a great season, especially on cold days with the blue sky and sunshine.
you made crappy weather look GOOD! π
Well, that is only a half growl…keep working on it, you can learn to love it like we do.
I agree that a lot of people and pups do miss out on the beauty of winter! We get some of our best hikes done in the winter months and as long as you prepare for it before you go out, you can have a great time!
Bunny
Exactly, you just have to prepare. We can’t be out as much in the heat and there isn’t much you can do about the heat, but with cold, you can always bundle and keep going!
The mom says it is a good thing there are lots of fans of the cold and snow because the whole nation cannot live in Florida!! π Emma, you are beautiful under any condition!
Absolutely correct. We could never live in Florida, nice to visit, but we love our winter!
Such beautiful photos. They couldn’t be any better for this hop.
Thank you…especially nice coming from cats π
Beautiful post! And the idea to replace coffee with-53F wind is brilliant. I bet all humans will like it LOL
My mom does love it, must most humans find her a bit odd.
But this idea could change the world, I’m sure. And I would support it, because I dislike coffee :o)
You are so funny!
Emma, you look so beautiful in that picture! I can’t wait to meet you! Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos of the frosty winters we get in Minnesota! Wyatt, my Mom and I love the winter too!
Paws up for Minnesota lovers of winter!!! It is a fact of life here, so you may as well enjoy it…having fun takes less energy than being mad and complaining.
I love those icy photos, so beautiful. And Emma, that is the best way to look at the winter weather. Spoken from someone who runs away from it. BOL
If you really dislike it and can move away, then you should. Otherwise, make the best of it!
Thank you so much for joining our blog hop and seeing beautiful with us. We’re so glad you received the soap and bumper sticker and hope you enjoy it. Those pictures capture beautiful so well and your writing invites all of us to do exactly what we share on See Beautiful every day: Get out there and create more beautiful! π
Thanks and happy seeing beautiful!
Thank you for the gifts and the blog hop! Have a beautiful day!
Can’t really enjoy the fire without first enjoying the snow and cold. Great shots.
Us “northerners” appreciate the true value of warmth π
Your photos are stunning! I have to agree your winters are beautiful but seriously -26F? Wow, it is hard to fathom weather that cold. Brrrrr
You really do adjust, and if there is no wind, it is gorgeous and nice to be out in. The air is so pure too!
All you girls look so beauwooowooootiful in the snow! Woooowooooo!
Snow girls!
Emma, all your Winter photos are Beautiful! We just love seeing the ice crystals…they are so pretty and intricate. You, of course, look Beautiful all covered in snow! Keep enjoying all that nature gives you!
*Cairn cuddles*

Mom calls me snowball in the winter…there is a reason why!
Beautiful pictures. Gotta admit, I hibernate when it gets very cold. I don’t mind winter, but the weather last week was too much for me. We had to drag the brown dawgs inside though…lol. Look forward to reading your Pet Blogger Challenge answers. π
Mom is the only nut in the neighborhood that is out in the bitter cold, we go along for support. She doesn’t even wear a hat or zip up her coat. I think she may be part polar bear π
Emma we love your frosty pictures….how wise you are to see the beauty even in the cold.
Hugs Madi and Mom
Winter is beautiful…sure beats all the dead stuff and brown if there wasn’t any snow!
Beautiful photos! Makes me wish for snow here in Atlanta!
Your pals,
Diane and Rocco
Oh boy, careful what you wish for…a dusting brings things to a halt down south!
Awesome post Emma and I would disagree, that photo of you is beautiful!
I really love the winter too and find I really enjoy walking during this season, it is far more comfortable than summer. Although as you said sometimes the cold/snow can be challenging and our walk times shortened. The other ‘issue’ I have is we have no side-walks in our neighborhood so the dogs have to walk in the road and I worry about the salt/chemical mixture (the town throws down) when we can’t walk in the woods.
We walk on lots of streets too, to get to the paths and stuff, but we don’t have any issues with the paws. Mom keeps us way to the side where there isn’t as much chemical stuff and sometimes we wear PAWZ. We love winter!
Winter rocks! Of course, I’ve never had to deal with snow or crazy polar vortex storms but I still enjoy it! π Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures!
Yay! Let’s have some appaws for winter lovers!
Oh, Emma. Those photos could almost turn me into a winter person! (Almost…) I still need to do my pet blogger challenge post as well! Like you said – so many hops! It’s hard to keep up!
Come on over to Minnesota, we have lots of winter!
Great photos.
Emma being Newfs the cold and snow is also our favorite season, Mom not so much but she would not miss a minute of seeing the pure joy we have while walking and playing in the snow. We will admit that Monday morning was so cold we were really shocked. We have never felt anything that cold ever. Have fun:-)
For us pups it was something new, Mom had it growing up so for her it wasn’t as “chilling”.
The snow is so pretty…as long as it is far away from here!
We do agree the Beauty of Winter … sometimes its just too cold. I guess you guys are so used to it. We found out that most MN wears shorts at 30 degree weather π So glad that your mom brought her camera during your Snow FUn time. Golden LOVE the photos and Golden Thanks for sharing. Happy Seeing Beauty. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Yes, we are the nuts that do wear shorts and walk out in the snow. Mom is always out in the yard without shoes on walking through the snow and without a jacket. I think she is just used to it. Have a beautiful evening!
What beautiful photos, Emma. You are so right about Winter. I’m not sure it will ever be my favorite season, or that I can get outside when it’s below zero, but I enjoy it much more than I used to and try to get out more all the time. Getting outside and enjoying the beauty of it is the key to loving winter!
Your photos are gorgeous! I just heard about the Pet Blogger Challenge today, so maybe I will also just post mine tomorrow because I would also like to join..
Mine is ready to go tomorrow. The hop is open for a few days, so I don’t think it is a problem. With so many joining we will be reading posts for days!
We love being out in the winter snow and cold…just can’t say the same for our mom.
Millie & Walter
Most humans don’t seem to enjoy it as much as us dogs do. We are happy that Mom loves it.
Wow – great photos! Love the close-up of Katie – I bet you’re all having fun in the snow!
We are, now that it is a bit warmer again and we can be out longer.
Your pictures are awesome Emma! Love all of them! Mommy wanted me to tell you that she got your story and she cried while she read it:( Mommy might be shedding lots of tears in the next few weeks!
Oh dear, I guess that is a good thing? She gets lots of credit for having to read and handle so many happy/sad stories!
That is beautiful, for real! π
Thank you…and it is all real π
“if life gives you winter, don’t lock yourself indoors and growl about it”
Now, those are wise words. I dislike winter but your winter looks so beautiful. We don’t get snow here, maybe that’s why winter looks pretty where you are.
Oh yikes! Winter without snow makes all of us growl too. That is no fun and downright ugly! We want winter with cold and snow or no winter. Thanks for coming by!
Beautiful photos. We love snow, so long as I don’t have to drive in it. When we get 6 or more inches, the fun is even greater.
Very true, Mom doesn’t enjoy driving in it either, but the more the better if we aren’t on the road!
I am a winter hater ( i just hate the cold weather) so you showing us the beauty in it is really nice. I do love snow photos and the flower photos were all amazing.
So many humans don’t like the cold. We love it and Mom love that feeling of her face freezing. I think she is odd for a human but we are happy she likes the cold weather.
I agree with you 100%! I LOVE winter and so does Petal. The snow is just breathtaking and we usually spend more time playing outside in the winter than the summer too. We love it and this year we feel we’ve been a little bit cheated with the snow! We haven’t had fresh snow in weeks and we’re not enjoying all the clean up that comes with mud, lol.
So thank you for these beautiful pictures! They’re so pretty and incredible. You and your sisters are very beautiful as well! π
Thank you! We need a good load of fresh snow too. Tonight we might get a couple inches which would be a nice cover to the older stuff.
Gorgeous photos! You make winter seem appealing! =)
It is! We love it!
