BlogPaws is hosting a blog hop together with Nature’s Recipe called #RecipeForMoments this month. I am a very lucky dog to have a wonderful life, in a wonderful home, with fur siblings, and a Mom that loves me so much. Today I’m joining this blog hop and sharing one of my special moments with my mom. Have you and your human had a special moment recently? Donβt keep it to yourself, join the hop and share it!
We have so many special moments at our house it is hard to pick just one. Since this is my blog, I decided to choose a moment that I share with just Mom and me. It’s no secret to my friends that we absolutely love winter at my house. We are real active in the winter with walks and playing outside. Most of our walks are with Mom and all three of us dogs but the midday walk is kind of optional for Katie and I. Bailie always has to go, but sometimes Katie or I choose to stay home. Once in a blue moon, Mom will take Katie or me all alone and that is a special treat!
One thing is for sure, we all walk fast and when it is super cold out, that is a good thing as it keeps us from getting too cold. It is also a better work out. If we are alone with Mom we can take time to goof off and do fun stuff like climb snow mountains or look for fire hydrants that have almost disappeared in the snow. Luckily most people dig the hydrants out so they can be found if needed.
Mom loves feeling that cold fresh air hitting her face. Even though it was only zero degrees Fahrenheit on this day, it was wonderful. The heavens like to bury us Minnesotans in snow and cold but they send the most clear blue skies you have ever seen and tons of sun. The sunshine helps keep us warm and makes the snow sparkle which is beautiful. The only bummer with all the snow and being a short dog is that when I walk, all I see is white, white, white. Luckily they come by and shave down the snowbanks or it would really be like a tunnel! Does any other dog out there have a Sony Action Cam with dog mount? Mine is always slipping off to the side when I move. Mom has it pretty snug, but am I the only one or any tips on that?
We sure hope you get to enjoy lots of special moments with your human. We know everyone is sick of winter, including my sister Bailie, but being grumpy about it doesn’t make it any better. Get our there and find some fun in it all. Being outside is our very favorite activity and it never gets boring for us. There is always a new trail to blaze, path to follow, changing landscape, and new peemail is abundant.
Last but not least to really capture the #RecipeForMoments moment, Mom and I took our first selfie together with her cell phone. Not bad for a first try!

Is that video on fast forward or were you really moving that fast? I think it is super that you and Mom has special time together and that you now have a picture of just the two of you out on a walk. Seems like a perfect moment to capture.
No, we are just fast movers.
Hi Y’all!
Guess with ALL THAT SNOW! y’all better LOVE winter! And as for being FAST movers…bet you have to be to keep some semblance of warmth in your bones.
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
If you don’t like winter you should really avoid Minnesota. We love it and love moving fast, so no problem.
Terrific photo! Emma, we totally agree about making the best of the weather, especially when it means special time between the two of you.
It is fun just walking with Mom. I have never been an only dog, so I haven’t had much alone time with her.
The snow looks fabulous with all the blue hues. Wow you sure are fast. Glad you have so much fun in the white stuff. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
I will make a snowball for you later when it warms up a bit.
I must admit, walking in the snow can be very exhilarating. It looks like you had a wonderful day with your mom.
It was fun and we love the blue sky with the sunshine.
Sugar got a mount for her SONY Cam. Posted several photos on our FB page. Bought directly from Sony. You guys are buried in SNOW … Winter this year is pretty but a bit too much and looking forward to Spring. <3 the selfie. Golden Woofs
It is the Sony dog mount, but it always slides off to one side or the other as soon as she moves. Maybe she has slippery fur?
Stunningly beautiful pictures. The snow has a blue cast because it is so white! I remember playing in the snow in Duluth. We have rain her but no snow. Emma, you do walk fast…the mom cannot walk that fast but I could hop/bounce along! WE love you very blue sky. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
I think the blues sky casts the blue onto the snow a bit. We are fast walkers for sure, but Mom says that is a healthy thing. If Katie is along we are much slower. I will play a bit extra in the snow for you.
Emma darling, what in the “doodle” were you running from? Love the pics of all the snow, us dodo’s here in VA have no reason to ever complain about snow – ever!! Nice job – enjoyed the post….
Mom and I like to walk fast. People always comment on us when they see us that we walk so fast, but we like it that way π Keeps us warm too.
I could ready your blog all.day.long! Thanks for the great dog’s eye view. We are just west of you in Menomonie, WI and trying to dig out as well. Green grass and sandy beaches are under there somewhere!
Last night some guy from weedman wanted to give Mom a lawn care quote. All Mom could do was look at all the snow and laugh at the poor guy! I think he needs to come back in a few weeks! How can you give a quote on something you can’t see because it is buried under a few feet of snow! Glad you enjoy the blog, I hope to brighten peoples days and offer information on occasion.
Your selfie puts ours to shame, we can never get one!
We took three. Mom was frowning in the other two, so this is the one. I was always looking good.
Nice work on the selfie, that’s no easy feat with a pup. I also love that first photo, it’s quite heroic.
Actually, the part of the selfie with me was easy, Mom kept frowning. She isn’t a model like I am obviously. I bet Eko would love racing around the giant snow piles with me π
Precious moments. It’s just so hard to choose. I understand.
So many good and special things happening, it is really tough to find just one.
I saw your video, Emma. Wow you were fast :o) I agree with you, bad weather is no excuse. We really shoukd try to enjoy every day we have together :o)
I know we do walk fast, but it is a good workout that way. If Katie is along we go much slower.
Nice video Emma. Your walk looks very fun! Even though it’s so cold, the sky looks amazing too. Beautiful photos and keep enjoying your special moments!
Walks in the winter are different as all I see is pretty much white (or yellow) snow, but we love them.
That camera is sooo cool! Bentley thinks that you made a wonderful movie <3 I would love to play n the snow like that. Does it get stuck to your hair? I enjoyed your Special Momnets with your mom.
I will be bringing it with me to BlogPaws I’m sure just in case Mom needs me to film anything. Wet snow does turn into snowballs all over my fur but with the cold weather, the snow is light and fluffy and doesn’t stick at all.
*high paw, high paw* Emma! That is a fantastic recipe for moments! The blue hues in the snow are so pretty. And dog…do you walk fast or what? Phew! I could barely keep up over here. Isn’t it wonderful being outside, enjoying the scenery (even if it is only snow), with the ones you love?

We walk fast, people always comment that we walk so far and so fast, but it is our speed. With Katie we now walk a lot slower, but if she isn’t along…look out for radar detectors!
I can’t see all the post, wez got snails in the computer..I dis see all that snow, we will come back in the morning Em to see the video.. We did see a pretty girl and wez guezzing that is Mommy π xxoxxxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Yikes, snails in the computer…does not sound good!
What a great post! Its been almost as cold as winter here in Chicago and mom and I love our walks too! I don’t understand how you can walk that far without stopping for a sniff! Our walks are: take a few steps, smell, smell, smell, smell, take a few steps, repeat. Love Dolly
Mom is kind of like a drill sergeant and living with her is a bit like bootcamp π When we walk, we walk, not for dilly dallying around she always says. We often use the flexi leashes since no one is around so we can go off road and sniff a bit here and there, run ahead or hang behind, but walks are a workout and fun combined. With Katie we have to go slow, though since she is older.
Wow, Emma, you are really trucking along in that video! I had to catch my breath at the end! π
The photos are great, and I think it is just perfect that you get out and enjoy time together no matter how cold the weather is.
Very good job on your first selfie too!
We are practically speed walkers, but Mom has always been a fast walker, so we just keep up.
Love that selfie picture! You should put more pics of you and your mom on your blog Emma! Can’t believe you have that much snow and we can’t get much at all here:(
I want my blog to be all about me and my life with furry friends and siblings, not humans, so the fact that I have allowed Mom to put herself on two posts this year already is huge π We do have plenty of the white stuff I have to say!
Aww, so sweet. I miss those winter walks with my dog. He’s much taller than you, Emma, and sometimes the snow along the sidewalks would be over his head too! Ace loved to climb the snowbanks!
Bailie is always climbing so she can see what is going on, puppies! Katie is tall but even she can’t always see over them! We love winter walks despite the ice, cold and snow.
And I thought we got a lot of snow! Generally, we don’t have this freezing freezing cold along with the snow. Sure, it gets cold, but not this cold. So this is the first year I made Maya and Pierson wear dog shoes on the walks. Not everyone shoveled their sidewalks so the ice could be really painful to walk on.
We usually have the severe cold, but just for a few weeks and usually in January, so this is unusual for us too.
That was very nice Emma and that cold stuff almost sounds like fun! Love the selfie duo!
It is fun, but my cat bro Bert that is always trying to run away from home doesn’t try so much in the winter. He is a bit scared once his paws hit the snow!
What a great place to be in the winter Emma! Mommy and I love winter too and we ADORE the snow! I loved the photos and your very first selfie was truly fantastic! Have a wonderful time together as I know you make each moment count.
Love you my friend!
Pixel
Hi Pixel! You would love being basically buried in the white stuff with us, just the extreme cold is hard for us all but hopefully that will end soon.
Look at you go! Love the selfie!!
We take our walking seriously π
Look at your mom, letting you put her face on the blog!! Woot, woot!! We haven’t been having many walks at all. Not because I don’t LOVE walking in winter, but there is too much ice and we can’t risk it with Sampson. Plus the woods are extra crunchy right now and we can’t risk someone cutting themselves. If we had nice snowy trails like the one you just walked on, I’d be all over it!
Well, Katie doesn’t go on all our walks right now, and yours truly had the paw incident two weeks ago, but we just can’t keep Mom in the house on the couch. She has to get out and move so we take her.
All of our snow has turned to ice…blah! No walks for us until it melts some. So glad you are still enjoying your walks!
Our streets are all icy, but the trails are still pretty good, it is too cold to make ice.
What a special moment, I love your first selfie!
Not too bad for a first try.
So much snow!! I wish i could bring along my siberian husky too there and let him enjoy the one things he enjoys the most
Believe me, we have plenty, even for huskies. About two feet on the ground with huge piles everywhere!
