The doors at Emma’s B & B are once again open for business. Our first guest of the season is cousin Lena who is spending twelve days with us for her spring break!
It sure is hard to imagine spring break right now. When I look out my window all I see is snow, piles, and mounds of snow, but Lena is here at Emma’s B & B for her spring break as she is every year. On a side note, my sisters and I were at the vet for our heartworm check this week, all of us are healthy, and we were complimented on our weight and physical condition πΒ Now let’s have a look at the fitness players at Emma’s B & B for Lena’s spring break.
Starting off we have Emma, “Queen Bee” at Emma’s B & B. Emma enjoys bossing the other dogs around when she can.
Bailie is fitness trainer in training. Bailie is responsible for keeping the guest busy and having plenty of fun.
Cousin Lena is our overzealous guest, tennis ball, and Frisbee addict, always ready for action.
Senior dog Katie is our referee. She stays on the deck watching over the yard to insure fair play and occasionally barks out orders.
Day one was still a below zero day here in Minnesota, so we had to find indoor activities for our guest. I decided to have Bailie work with Lena on the K9 FitBone while I had my afternoon nap. Lena was super wobbly. We couldn’t get her to stand alone, so we decided to start with sitting. She did pretty well with sitting on it, but we could definitely see her working her core.
Starting on Tuesday, it warmed up so we could play in the yard. I sent Bailie out to supervise Lena digging out a tennis ball.
All three of us headed out to the back of the yard. Those that are heavier or running faster (not mentioning any names) tended to sink into the deep snow.
We all were searching, but our tennis ball crazed guest found the ball first.
Bailie is leading the way back to Mom with Lena close behind. Lena did not let Bailie have the Frisbee, which made Bailie a little frustrated.
I personally don’t understand why Lena is so interested in balls and Frisbees. I would rather just play chase and wrestle.
Get a good look at the deep stuff Lena goes through to get a silly Frisbee!
After lots of fresh air and racing around it was time for a group photo and then head inside for some snacks! Even though we were not “working out”, playing in the snow really helps keep a dog fit. It is extra work racing through the deep snow and we have to stay warm which burns calories too. It is getting warmer now, so our precious snow will start melting. We have to get out and play while we can!

When I was in college, “Spring break” meant going somewhere with warm temps, sunshine, and pool parties. Poor Lena got snow instead!
But it looks like she loved it. You all look like you are having so much fun while staying fit. Awesome job.
Her family goes to Florida, she is stuck here, but she loves staying with us so she doesn’t mind.
Looks like so much fun but I think I am having fun too. I am at Crufts watching all the gvgv compete. Boy, are you relatives beautiful.
That is awesome. Have you seen Debucher GBGV’s? Mom would love to see more of my relatives. Enjoy!
Glad things warmed up a bit and you got to go outside and have fun. We hope your weather takes a turn for the better soon. Have a fabulous fit Friday.
Best wishes Molly
We will be above freezing next week, so the melting mess will begin…yuck…that means getting toweled off all the time, don’t care much for that!
It sure looks pretty. I think I remember that white stuff. My fitness routine is to play, play, play!! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
You puppies just play and grow, but fitness can be real fun as we just play too.
You guys sure know how to make a pup feel welcome. And it looks like one more heavy snowfall and you guys will have snow in the backyard higher than your fence!
The neighbor’s fence is actually buried from the wind blowing snow! It is getting warm, so it will start sinking down slowly. As long as we don’t hop over Mom will be fine with it as is.
Well Lena seems to be having a great spring break even with the snow! She looks like me running through the deep snow which is why mom thinks I am back down to my svelt 25lbs. Spring will be here eventually! Love Dolly
Cousin Lena is a wild ad crazy girl, snow doesn’t stop her from finding a toy! It is an awesome workout. Glad you slimmed down, bet you feel better.
Lucky Lena! Looks like a whole lot of fun at your B & B, Emma!
She loves to visit us because she gets to run in the morning with Mom, go for walks with us, play with us in the yard and get snacks. At home, she rarely gets walked and is an only pet. She misses her mini humans, but other than that she loves vacation at our place!
Bentley wants to come visit and stay at Emma’s B & B!! It looks like a doggy resort with all of the activities! Bentley’s big brother was a Golden Retriever and they do play hard. Bentley likes to wrestle instead of chase Frisbees too!

I like the chase and wrestle game best. A nice combination. Katie enjoys stealing the toy and running with it to create a chase, but she can’t run through the deep snow anymore with her arthritis. My guest always have fun at my place.
Emma’s B&B looks like tons of fun! Spring Break in the snow however, not quite the tropical vacation! haha But Lena looks like she’s loving it.
Have fun!

We don’t let a little cold and snow freeze our spring break feeling! As long as there is fun, who really cares where you are π
My mom was always sad, because her parents never let her go to Spring Break ( they totally destroyed her sensitive teenager soul). Now I know why she is sad, Spring Break is great! To play with a frisbee and to wrestle and to chase with friends is just fabulous. I have no idea why mom’s parents said NO. Probably they were afraid that she could get a cold while dashing through the snow?
It is kind of a warped sense of spring break being in the snow, but growing up lots of Mom’s friends went skiing over spring break, so why not hang out at my B & B?
That looks like SO much fun! Daisy would like to book a reservation ASAP! As a Florida dog, she’s never had the chance to play in snow!
Oh she would learn all about it the first time she sinks in! She would have a blast!
So is Bailie the fastest runner in the snow?
Probably because she doesn’t sink it…such a lightweight. Lena has longer legs, so she is pretty quick too.
Quite a snowy “spring break” Emma! BOL… I think ours starts this weekend now that I think about it. Woohoo! Cute cousin you got there too.
Thanks…lots of folks here go skiing on spring break, so there are “wintery” spring breakers in the world. Lena’s family went to FL.
Ah Emma, I loved that first photo with you taking a nap while you made cousin Lena work out. LOL I’m sure you are all having a grand time!
I know lots of stuff, but delegating, especially tiring jobs, and being the one in charge is my specialty!
I think you all can have fun in any season!
We do seem to have fun no matter what around here!
Wow, that looks like so much fun! I bet Rocco would like a cold-weather vacay, but I prefer the beach!

Most dogs with fur really enjoy the snow. Bailie is old enough now that she doesn’t freeze easily and has no trouble diving in head first!
Looks like you guys got a really good workout in that snow! π I can only imagine how many calories you burned playing in that stuff!
It is tiring hopping through it all. Even when Mom runs on the snow it is hard…like running on sand, but a great workout!
So glad to hear your heartworm checks were negative and your weight checks are great! Looks like you will have 12 days of too much fun. Enjoy your time with your cousin and looking forward to the stories and pictures.
Mom is already worn out from four dogs. She says that three is often difficult but four is really a challenge. She loves dogs and enjoys us all but will be happy to have just three again in another week. We just continue to have fun.
Looks like you are all going to be busy the next several days. The snow is still so deep. Luckily it looks like Lena likes snow.
Can you believe it was 46 today and bright sunshine? It felt like Spring. Of course we are going back to the cold for tomorrow and maybe freezing drizzle over night. Bah humbug!
We had 38 yesterday and it was downright hot! Today is back to cold but starting tomorrow 40’s for a few days. The stuff is melting but it will take a while because we have so much of it.
Looks more like winter break than spring break, but still looks like a lot of fun. I bet folks love to bring their pup to your B&B – they leave fitter than they were at check-in!
Usually the humans say their dog slept for like three days after they got home and also looked a bit thinner. Lena could lose a couple pounds, maybe she will this vacation. For us dogs, spring break being on a beach isn’t that important. It is all about having fun with family and friends π
Now that is a lot of fun, we would like to visit but are fed up with snow for now. That does make for great exercise though, leaping over the snow and all.
Since we are stuck with it, we may as well try to enjoy it. It will be melting this week which really makes for a messy time. We aren’t fans of melting time.
Maybe you should call it Emma’s B&B and Fitness Camp? I’m glad you were finally able to get outside and play in all that snow. Your guest really looks to be having a great time!
She is having fun, but she is so fixated on retrieving which is such a bore. We wish she would chase with us instead.
Wow! You guys still have lots of snow! It is finally starting to warm up here and we are ready for Spring to come! Bet you will be glad when it warms up there!
We still have a ton of snow, but it has only been above freezing for two days. It is a serious mess out there with all the slop!
