It’s Lena’s last two days at our place for spring break. It is a good thing she is going home as we are all pretty tired out from being so wild! We always have so much fun when she visits and with four of us, there is always at least one dog available to play with! Even Katie has been feeling better these days. She is on some new pills that are really helping her arthritis. I plan to post about them soon.
It is so good to see Katie actually wanting to join in the fun with us. She was really getting her wild pants moves going! Most of the winter she had too much pain to do much of anything, so this was pawsome!
Lena is always playing with a Frisbee or tennis ball. Bailie runs after her when she looks for the Frisbee and then races her back to Mom for the next throw.
Sadly with all the new snow and then the melting, our twinhomes seem to have collapsed. Bailie felt bad, so I was doing some digging to see if I could find any trace of them but I did not have any luck.
Sometimes Bailie and Lena think it is fun to whisper stuff about me. I don’t think that is polite, but they do it anyway…kids these days! No respect for their elders. You know Katie is eleven, I’m seven, Lena is four, and Bailie is 9 months, so we have an entire age range. I like to call Bailie and Lena the little ones since I knew them both as tiny pups.
Staying fit through playing with other dogs is a wonderful thing. Fit doesn’t always mean a formal workout. If you are an only dog, that doesn’t mean you can’t find some friends and have fun. We have a fenced yard and sometimes invite neighbor friends over to play. Kind of like a private dog park! People are shocked we actually do that, but why not? It is fun for everyone and dogs are social creatures. We bark at dogs that walk by our house but Mom has taught us to allow friends in our yard with us.
Lastly, I put together a short video of some of our activities on Lena’s Spring Break this year. We are always on the move and always having some fun!

You guys have so much fun. I bet that you miss Lena, although it will probably be nice to have a quiet day for a change.
We do a lot of things to stay fit, and running is our favorite. But we have never had to do it in snow!
Lena is still here until tomorrow, so today is the party night…Bowser Beer for all…they things might get crazy…collars have been known to come off!
Gosh you all have had a fun time and pity it is coming to and end but then again plenty of time for some naps.
Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
We are pretty worn out, but it is a good worn out.
I love that you all play so well together, and help keep each other in shape. Glad to hear you’ve found something that’s been helping Katie at bit. It stinks getting old, so make sure you keep the little ones in line to help her out a bit. 🙂
She really does love Bailie and is much nicer to her than I am, but Bailie can also be a total pest!
I miss playing with my pals so much in the park! I saw a few this morning for the first time in months! You guys seem to have so much fun you are very lucky! Although it will be nice when there’s no snow! Love Dolly
It is pretty bad out right now with the melty stuff and then below freezing again, it is all crusty and slippery but when it is warm we sink in so deep. Not the best time of year to be out.
Emma, your leap in the snow was pawsome! We are happy that Katie has found something to help her stiff joints. Sorry to hears Cousin Lena is leaving. I play like that sometimes with Lyla – she is pretty cool with me. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
We are always sad when Lena leaves, but she misses her family a lot, the kids mostly, and we all need a break. She will be back, we know that.
Love that first photo – it looks like Emma is coming out of the ground like a snow submarine. I didn’t realize until that video that little Bailie’s also got a pretty impressive howl bark.
Oh my sister has an obnoxiously high pitched howl/bark and she loves to hear it too! As for my action shot, we get pretty wild out there when we are in the mood!
I’m so glad Katie is feeling better. that’s such a nice thing to see. And what fun you guys are having. Too bad I can’t bring Torrey over, she would love it!
The more the merrier. I think 5 or 6 dogs is the most we have ever had in the yard at once.
Rocco loves having his pals over to play more than anything! Our house looks a lot like your when we have guest pups. Rocco can get ROWDY! I bet the pups will have some good sleeps once the vacay is over!
Your pals,
Diane and Rocco
We all need a few recovery days! We are always amazed how many dogs don’t have play dates or friends over because it is such a dog thing to do.
Loved that video, Baillie is so funny. Have a super weekend xxoxxx
Mollie and Alfie
She is a complete GBGV clown. I have gotten a bit more refined with age, but I still have a goofy side!
Oh my goodness!!!! Fun, fun, fun…Awesome video!!!! Loved seeing them all frisky as can be…there had to be some epic naps!!!!
Lots of napping and at night, lots of snoring!
Hey Emma! I am impressed with the “wheelie” you are popping in that first photo. You tell Bailie that it’s not nice to talk about you. Unless, she is saying what an awesome big sister that you are. I hate that your twin ice home collapsed, probably an avalanche. I’m glad Katie is feeling friskier too. Arthritis and cold weather don’t like each other. Stay snugly warm with your mom. <3 Bark More, Growl Less Barking from the Bayou!
I can really get the wild going when I am in the mood! Bailie and Lena are kind of a team and they don’t like my authoritative behavior, so I’m sure it was nothing nice they were saying.
That was a great video!! Thanks for sharing!!!! I am so glad you guys have been having a blast together!!! Thats first photo was hilarious BTW!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Sometimes my camera lady gets a good shot 😉 Glad you enjoyed the video, we had fun doing all our stuff filmed or not!
I agree, sometimes girls whisper silly things in the ears of her BFF’s …. hope they know that dogs can hear every word, even whispered :o) Have a great friday!
I don’t think they care if I hear them, they are just whispering about me anyway!
Lena will be so lonely when she gets back home 🙁
First she is so excited to see her mini humans, then she checks out her house and then she sleeps for a few days, and then she starts to get bored and lonely.
Y’all are rockin’ fit, fun and happy!
We sure try!
Aw what a great spring break! It’s awesome that Katie went out to play with you guys. She looks like she’s having a nice time. And that first photo is a great action shot of you Emma.
Katie has really been perking up the past few weeks which is nice!
It looks like it has been an awesome spring break for all of you (though we have to use the word “spring” loosely here!). It’s so great to see Katie playing, I can’t wait to hear about what she has been taking that is helping so much.
It is too bad your twin homes caved in. I keep making snowshoe trails and then lose them to melting, and then more snow, and then rain. etc etc. and I have to go make them again and make sure it’s not too icy for the dogs.
Enjoy the rest of your time with Lena!
It is really icy and crusty in the mornings, then it is warm later so we sink in up to our ears. Not an easy time of year for any of us, but we still manage to have fun.
What great photos! I’m glad she is feeling better and has more mobility! We’re here in Australia so we only get snow up in the mountains, so I was wondering how their paws go in snow? Do you cover them with wax or anything or are they fine au natural? 🙂
Some people have lots of trouble with the paws, I have never had a dog that had problems with paws, cold and snow. If it is more than -10 F out then they wear shoes because of the cold freezing their paws but otherwise they are fine. We are outside walking and playing all year, so I think their pads adapt as the weather changes.
They look like they are having lots of fun! So glad Katie is feeling better. We want to hear about the pills you are giving her. Scout might need to take some of them!
She had real bad arthritis issues with her front left leg starting in Nov. Now that seems to be under control but she has started dragging her back left paw again. I will be writing a review hopefully later this month on these supplements.
Looks like y’all are having a lotta fun!
GBGV’s are all about fun and being funny!
Really grinned when I saw Katie joining in 🙂 Looks like you had a pawsome spring break!
She doesn’t do much chase but when she starts bouncing around we are all super happy!
It’s lovely to see Katie feeling like playing! I love that first photo.
Thanks, it is rather goofy but good!
Looks like you guys had a great time with your cousin! 🙂 I am shocked people think it’s weird for you to invite friends over for play dates, I used to do that all the time even without a yard!
In Germany it was really normal, but here no one seems to let dogs have friends or interact which is a bummer.
What a fun video! Wow, you really do have a LOT of snow. Looks like you are enjoying it, though! Much love, The Scottie Mom.
We still have quite a bit…it was a big snow winter. Now it is really crunchy and icy, not so fun.
Hi Y’all!
I like it when friends stop by too.
When my cousin came to visit and we played and I welcomed him inside the house. We are both well behaved and restrained from playing indoors. Oh and I shared my treats with him.
Unfortunately our neighbor dog, the big yellow lab, is old and arthritic and not inclined to race about and play anymore.
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
We still like to get wild in the house at times which gets our furry behinds sent outside, but that is okay with us. We have a couple neighbor dogs that are real small on the other side of the fence. We like to race up and down the fence line with them sometimes.
What a great spring break Lena had, you girls look like you were having so much fun and getting lots of exercise.
We were all dead in bed last night after Lena left and we heard once she checked out her house and family, she crashed too. Fun is tiring!
Looks like a lot of fun and Lena looks like a bundle of energy! You still have a ton of snow. We are finally seeing our grass even after the pile of new snow we got last Wednesday.
Lena is real hyper because she has nothing to do at home, but once she is here she settles down as Mom runs with her, we walk, we play together, she has antlers to chew on, but she is still nervous and has lots of energy.
