Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!
Emma the GBGV here on St. Patrick’s Day Poop Patrol. Some dog has to do it!
What is green, smells like lavender, and is biodegradable? Check at the end of my post for the answer to this seriously tricky riddle!
I hope I don’t have to remind you how important it is to pick up after your pup, even on a day like St. Patrick’s Day. Being green is in, not just on St. Patrick’s Day, so do the green thing and pick up after your pup. This time of year is the absolute worst around my area as all that snow buried poop is coming back as the snow melts and it is not only an eye sore, and ugly mess, but an environmental hazard. People, please simply #scoopthatpoop. It is you duty as a dog owner!
If you really are one of those people that doesn’t walk their dog and is too lazy to pick up the poop in the yard any time of the year, how about a poop service? I live in the Twin Cities, so I can only talk about a service I know of in my area. At the Pet Expo last month, I stopped by and chatted with Gail at the Pet Yard Pick-Up booth. She “kindly” put some of her poop piles on the floor for me to pose with along with her sign. Pet Yard Pick-Up offers many different services for picking up your yard. They don’t have prices on their website as they need to find out your individual needs before they can quote you a price. The price depends on how many dogs you have, how often you want them to come by, what you feed your dogs, and some other information. They also do a spring clean up which is ideal right about now. Most cities in the US have these type of services, so if you really can’t scoop that poop on your own, at least have a service do it for you!
As luck would have it on this St. Patrick’s Day, there is green gold at the end of the rainbow. Yes, we are giving away #EarthRated bags or Frost Fingers gloves! If you didn’t already guess, EarthRated bags is the answer to my little riddle at the beginning of the post. To enter fill out the Rafflecopter below.
Disclaimer: I was not asked to do a review for Pet Yard Pick-Up, nor am I being compensated for promoting them. I simply see it as a good option to get poop in a place where it belongs, not on the ground. Mom handles my poop, I have not used this service myself.
It’s the third Monday of the month, which means it is time for the #ScoopThatPoop blog hop, hosted by Sugar the Golden Retriever, cohosted by, of course, me, Emma the GBGV on poop patrol, Oz the Terrier, and Pawsitively Pets. Join in to find out more about this stinky subject and help us spread the word to clean up after your pup!
Great post Emma and Happy Paddy’s Day xxxoxxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Party it up well, Irish or not!
Have a marvellous Monday and Happy St Patrick’s Day. May the luck of the Irish be with you.
Best wishes Molly
May the luck of the Irish leave lots of corned beef for you 😉
It’s a very important job, that scoop-poop LOL. Have a great day.
Green, not brown, no more poop!
You are too cute Emma! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Thanks you! Happy St. Paddy’s Day!
I have seen dog poop pick up services in our travels. Seems weird to me, but a god thing all around.
We had heard about them but then we actually met these folks and it seemed like a good idea for those that just don’t or won’t do it on their own.
Green is good! Happy St. Patrick’s Day Emma!
Except for those creepy green creatures hanging around your place lately 😉
OMD!!!! There is a service that actually does this? wow…we are good about scooping our poop. And I think it is SO gross when we are out walking and see other dogs poop everywhere. I mean, really guys…..
You look pawsome with all your greens on today! Happy St. Paddy’s!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thank you. Yes, these services do exist, not sure if they are everywhere but we have them around here.
Great post Emma!! How great that their is a poop scooping service in your area. Honestly, if people do not want to scoop then they should at least hire someone else to do it. Poop on the ground is just yucky!
Happy St. Paddy’s Day!
Oz
Poop is disgusting around on the ground. Happy St. Paddy’s Day!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I love your “Poop Patrol” leprechaun hat Emma. There are yard clean up services like that here too. I have also not tried them but ANY options that help people not be gross are definitely good to know about. Who wouldn’t scoop that poop with a lucky poop patroller like you reminding them?
Some people just use their yards as a bathroom with no clean up which is so very wrong. Those folks need such a service!
I’ve gotten very lucky on a couple walks and narrowly missed some wintertime deposits that are now peeking through the snow. Can’t understand who would ever do that.
From the looks of it, it is a popular trend 🙁 Bailie had a tracking class yesterday. There were four dogs, two were male Ridgebacks…she thought of you! One really liked her, but they weren’t allowed to have contact.
What a great day to promote being green!
We’ve had some close calls with piles in the snow but now that the snow is melting we can see it better.
It is just nasty, all mushy and gross!
Happy St. Paddy’s Emma, Bailie & Katie! Love the idea of green poop bags…Guess it’s too late to get them for this year, but next year for sure!
Hopefully you need them more than once a year – LOL! They are great any old time!
Our bags aren’t green, but we still carry them around wherever we go. Mom even takes extra’s and has no shame in her game sharing them with other pet walkers out there that don’t have them. She’ll stop them in a doodle minute and hand over a bag. We used to be embarrassed until we realized how many people still allow their pups to “poop & run” – not anymore…. not cool ……
We always have more than enough. Especially with three of us you just never know what might come up and we also share if someone is “in need”, but we don’t run into others walking very often.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Emma! I hope that you, Bailie, & Katie have a great green day! My Mom scoops our poop from the backyard and uses the little bags on walks. i mentioned you in my post today so I linked your name and called you my sweetie. <3 Your Basset, Bentley
Hi Bentley! Wish you were here so we could share a dog beer and have some fun together maybe hunting wabbits! Happy St. Paddy’s Day! Emma
The most shocking thing ever – I was at a pet event held in a dog park that belonged to the shelter. Several dogs were running loose which was really fun to watch – until I saw a big dog take a poop in the middle of things and no person came to pick it up. It didn’t take long for someone else visiting the event to step in it. I love dogs, but I would have been furious with the owner if I stepped in some poop while visiting a rescue shelter event! It sure isn’t the dog’s fault. I am happy to hear you are on the case, Emma. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Okay, that is our thing too! We don’t ever understand just leaving it, but at dog specific events where dogs have the privilege of being allowed, don’t ruin it humans! Geez! Just like at the dog park where there are bags everywhere and trash cans. Pick it up!
I didn’t enter the raffle because I already have the gloves, but I love these poop bags! They are the only ones I use. It has been hard for me picking up poop since Sampson hurt his leg. I can’t tend with him and Delilah as well. 🙁 I suspect once the snow melts I’ll be out in the yard cleaning it up.
I need a video of my mom…three dogs on leashes, two of us always poop on top of a snowbank, so she climbs up to get it, sinks in to her butt, has to hold all three of us in one hand and make sure we stay out of the road and scoop with the free hand. It is quite humorous…I’m sure the neighbors think my mom needs her head examined. On the raffle, you can choose which prize you want.
Happy St Paddy’s day!!
Same to you my friend.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Emma! I think green looks great on everyone when they are scooping 🙂
Definitely!
A green monday is much better than a brown one :o) Today we better hope for the luck of the irish than for the luck what sticks on our shoes. Happy St. Patricks Day!
You are so funny, wish I had thought of that! Happy St. Pat’s Day!
We’ve been finding lots of abandoned poo-poos as well since the snow melted. One random, hard turd even started rolling down the slanted sidewalk and had me and Petal running to get away from it! I wish I were making that up. It was NASTY.
Anyway. Thanks for helping to spread the word! And for reminding me to clean up the yard! Hehe.
You are super adorable, by the way!
It is really bad around here too, old poop is everywhere. Yuck!
Always thinking about your neighbor front yard … it must be YUCKY now. Not sure why you have to hire a poop scooper … just lazy dog owners. #ScoopThatPoop Golden Woofs
Lots of lazy dog owners! That front yard is almost a mile from us, thankfully! Our immediate neighbors are all good scoopers.
I love how your poop bags fit in with your green theme for St. Patty’s Day. Very clever! We would like to participate in the giveaway please.
Happy St. Patty’s Day!
They worked out perfectly 🙂
I would kiss you if I lived near you! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Well, I think you found your pot of gold in your new home, so enjoy!
My Mom Person never goes ANYWHERE without a poop bag or two or three. Even if she doesn’t take one of us dogs with us! I don’t like encountering strange poop on my walks!
We have them everywhere, in the car, all her coats, even in the washing machine sometimes!
Same here! 😀
Thanks for spreading the word, you are so darn cute. Love the fake poop in the poop service picture and great idea for a business. More people should be calling them. Have a great St. Patrick’s night.
I think around here there are a couple of these businesses and they do pretty well. It is just so simple to pick up as we go, but some people don’t want to I guess.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day Emma. We will just have to use out blue bags but the do just as well 🙂
Mine just happened to be green 🙂 but the color isn’t the point anyway as you know.
Hubby is always scooping, but even he found a couple of piles under the snow. Little surprises from a crummy winter. 🙂 Hope you had a nice St. Patrick’s Day!
With all the snow and then the blowing and stuff I can see how that would happen, but you can only do what you can do. Since we go on our walks, there is no missing it for mom!
Looking good in green Emma. Most of the scooping here is from the cat’s litter boxes.,..regularly and faithfully…twice a day every day!
As if three dogs was not enough, Mom has to scoop the cat box too for two cats.
Good luck to all your entrants Emma. I posted about my Frost Fingers after winning them over at Oz the Terrier’s. Clever idea to recommend the pickup service for those who don’t like scooping themselves. Our neighbors used a similar service for a month after their new baby was born.
Thanks for coming by. Frost fingers are a good idea for cold weather!
Hey Emma
I’ll give you a kiss whether you’re Irish or not! 🙂
I’m so late this week – doh! But happy I just made it in time to enter your contest!
I hope you’re having a fun day,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Better late than never! Thanks for the kiss and for stopping by!
Yup that’s the motto.. Scoop that Poop 😀 😛
Had a nice bag full again this morning, I know Mom really enjoys scooping.
