CAUTION – EXTREMELY AWESOME GIVEAWAY BEING REVEALED TODAY!
I advise my readers to sit down and take a deep breath before reading this post!
Is it just at my house or does everyone have one of these super cool trees that grows bananas? I hardly ever see our tree bare. Right when I think the tree will bear not more fruit, more bananas magically appear! I love bananas, my sisters love bananas, and so does my mom. Today is a very special post as I have a recipe and a fantastic, unbelievably pawsome giveaway to tell you about. Before I get to that stuff, I have to say that bananas are healthy for people and dogs, making them a great snack food!
Since I have to use my oven when I make treats that are dehydrated I decided to make banana chips because they are super simple and pretty fast. In the past I have posted recipes for chicken jerky, turkey jerky and other snacks. We make most of the jerky ourselves because sadly many pets have died eating jerky from China. Why risk it when I can make my own? For these chips all you need are bananas, a knife, parchment paper and a baking pan. I sometimes use peanut butter powder, but I’m currently out of that, so I just made them plain. They turned out really well and we ate a bunch of them as soon as they cooled off. You can click here to get the simple recipe in a pdf.
Now these chips take about two hours in the oven, which means the oven is tied up and I only have one oven. It sure would be nice to have a dehydrator! Keep in mind, you can probably get a dehydrator for $20 somewhere, but we are talking about the Porsche of dehydators here, my friends!
This is where this totally unbelievable giveaway comes into play! Kol’s Notes and Silvie on 4 are the masterminds behind this grand giveaway!Β You can win an Excalibur 9 Tray Dehydrator (model 3926TCDB) with a clear door and timer valued at $319.95. Excalibur is also offering our readers a discount code of 15% off using code PETLOVE at either www.Drying123.com or www.ExcaliburDehydrator.com (code expires April 15th).
How can you win? This is going to be one fun contest! Gaining entry points will be done in three ways consisting of submitting a recipe, filling out a rafflecopter and voting for best recipe. Stop by the giveaway site at Kol’s Notes for all the details.
Disclaimer: I have not been compensated for this post. Excalibur is providing the prize for the giveaway.

We love’z Banana’z. Mommy’s going to make some of those chips. xxxoxxx
Mollie and Alfie
They are probably the easiest thing I have ever made…but they were also eaten in a flash π
Hmmmm they look fabulous and good luck to all in the giveaway. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
It will be a long giveaway, should be some good recipes that come up too!
You are right, that is one pawsome giveaway. It will sure make making your treats a lot easier won’t it!
Sadly, I’m promoting, so I can’t win, but I will still be baking!
Barking good giveaway! Sharing.
I will howl to that!
Uhm… I never thought to give Katie Banannas and I love them. I will have to give it a try. Thanks Emma!
What! Bananas are a staple like dog food. We have all eaten them since day one. Never met a dog that did not like bananas!
Wow, that is an awesome giveaway! I keep saying I want to get a dehydrator but I imagine a cheap one probably wouldn’t be worth it (I find there’s a lot of truth to “you get what you pay for”).
We are going to try your recipe too. Luke loves bananas, Dad shares one with him every morning. The girls don’t care that much for them, but they might like the dehydrated ones.
We all are nuts for bananas. These chips were the easiest treats I have ever made and we all gobbled them right down! I think if you are going to get a dehydrator it has to be something you would use first of all and second, then get a really good one. Share those bananas!
Do you make your own peanut butter powder? I’ve looked up and tried to dehydrate peanut butter many times unsuccessfully.
We are silly, we always buy it at one of those roadside places in Georgia when we drive to FL. That is why we are out. Not sure but I think health food stores may have it or you can order it online I am sure.
The mom has not given me a banana to taste yet. I must tell her to buy me some! Thanks for the tip. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
We all have bananas every morning with our breakfast. We love them!
Everyone loves bananas around here too. Especially with peanut butter, or yogurt.
Oh yum! Bananas are a wonder food!
Wowza!!! That is a super cool giveaway!!!! I am heading over as soon as I leave here! I sure hope it is a worldwide giveaway, I am in Canada.
I haven’t done ANYTHING like that (dehydrating foods) so I would love to get into that!
those banana chips look tasty!!! I didn’t know you could do that right in the oven! I have always bought banana chips from the stores hahaha!!!!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We do chicken and turkey in the oven too, but it would be nicer with a good dehydrator. Bananas are quick and simple…plus super tasty! I know Kol’s Notes is in Canada, but not sure about the giveaway.
Emma, the recipe sounds so simple and yummy, we’re putting some in the oven today!! Thanks for the tip, and cool giveaway.
Make sure and do a couple bananas as those chips don’t last long! We wolfed them right down!
Can’t decide whether to enter the contest or buy a banana tree first – I need it all!
A banana tree is a must to keep those important bananas safe, the dehydrator would be awesome for Eko, he could be busy making his own snacks while you work π
Can I hire you as my personal cook? π
Sure, but I usually bake for us dogs π
They look fab!
So simple and so yummy!
You sure cooked up a fine giveaway Emma!
Maybe you could dehydrate fish or something, kitties?
Emma, I LOVE bananas! Mom has never baked me any. I just eat hers. I’m going to tell her about your recipe. A dehydrator would be so cool. My human brother has one that he is going to let Mom try. To bake them, can she use foil instead of parchment paper? She saw a banana keeper at the store the other day. IT was yellow & banana shaped, I guess for kids lunch. She said it was hilarious looking. By the way, you kitchen is gorgeous! Have a great day. Your Basset, Bentley <3
That banana thing is for kids for lunches, we have seen those. If you use foil you better spray it with no stick as the bananas kind of stuck to the parchment paper from the moisture. We all love bananas, they are so simple and good for us. These chip are awesome, but they just disappear after they cool off…not sure where they went? Not in my tummy π I have to have a nice kitchen for my baking you know!
Love bananas here too! I always see banana chips at the store and bought them before, but it would be cool to make my own.
Super easy, that is for sure!
We already have a dehydrator that we don’t use. I keep trying to give it away and Hunny keeps saying he’s going to use it. *sigh* Your dehydrator looks way cooler, though.
This one is supposed to be awesome, but if you don’t use it much, then no point in having it cluttering up space.
My mom have to make those bananas. I have never tasted bananas and I want to taste them. Have a great day.
I’m amazed so many dogs have never had bananas. We just love them.
Coco loves bananas!
My sisters and I do too!
Banana chips are just about my favorite treat!!
My sisters and I go bananas for bananas!
My husband just convinced me not to enter the giveaway since the dehydrator takes up a lot of room and we could never fit it on a sailboat. So good luck with the contest.
BTW, your pictures are absolutely adorable!
Thank you. Very true, you do need space for the dehydrator and a sailboat is not really a good spot for one π
Those banana chips look yummy Emma! You are so clever!
They are so easy, you have to make some!
That sounds like a great giveaway. Hubby used to make duck jerky all of the time, but with a smoker not a dehydrator. It was for people though, not dogs because it was a bit too spicy. The doggies do love their bananas. I guess that would be something for them. π
The bananas are super easy to make even with the oven, but for serious jerky or other dehydrated treats the Excalibur would be the way to go!
I love seeing photos where you cook. You’re super-cute in your cooking outfit!
Thank you, they do seem to be a fan favorite π
That paw-some Emma.. And i must say, that chef hat suits you. π
