One of a pet parents worst nightmares is to have a pet run off. How will you find Fluffy or Fido again? We lost our kitty Tom five years ago. He simply vanished. We did everything we could to find him but we never saw him again so we know the pain of a lost pet firsthand. There are many things you can do when you are trying to find a lost pet, but I want to introduce you to mobiPET – the world’s first photo amber alert for pets! Did you know that one in three pets will get lost during their lifetime, 10,000 pets are reported missing every week and without ID 90% of lost pets never return home. mobiPET is not available to the public yet, so you have a great opportunity to be one of the first to find out about and order your tags!
From registering your pet to issuing a lost pet alert, everything you need to do can be done right from your cellphone with mobiPET. By March 31st, 2014, mobiPET hopes to raise $15,000 to begin production. If you are interested in purchasing a mobiPET kit, they are offering a “one time, lifetime only” price of $24.95. The national launch retail price is set for $24.95 with an annual renewal fee of $9.95. The mobiPET kit consists of an engraved metal tag with a unique pet ID code along with three key tags with the text instructions on what to do if the pet goes missing. The company plans to start sending kits out in the second quarter of 2014. Right now mobiPET is only available in the USA, but they hope to branch out to Canada and other countries as the service gets rolling.
If your pet goes missing all you have to do is text the word LOST to mypet@agm.tw from your cellphone. Within five minutes of your notification the amber alert with an actual photo of your pet and owner contact information is sent out per email to all animal shelters, vets, and boarders within a thirty mile radius and by text to all registered neighbor’s cell phones within a two mile radius of where the pet went missing. If you are traveling, you will get a text message asking you to either verify or update your location and alerts will be sent to the area you are in. If you find a pet with a mobiPET tag, the directions to report the found pet are printed right on the tag as in the photo above. The other wonderful thing is that no one has to actually capture your pet. The alert is sent out even when the pet doesn’t have the tag on them. You will be alerted when your pet is spotted.
Another unique feature for those that don’t have a pet but would like to help your neighbors and friends find their lost pets, is that you can register to become a Pet Finder (for free). Simply go to www.mobipet.me and click on the tab Become a Pet Finder. When a pet goes missing and the owner requests the alert to be sent out, we will notify you at the address and/or cell phone number you entered.
I can say from Mom’s experience with registering our tags, the company is very customer service oriented. We had a couple requests and questions and they got back to us in a very timely manner. Registering was very easy and updating information is just as easy. All of us furry ones have name tags and chips, but this is a whole new level of help if we wander off. Below is a short video explaining just how mobiPET works.

That is fantastic Emma, we entered even though we live over the pond BOL xxoxxx
Mollie and Alfie
They hope to go international, so we will see.
Pe-es Emma, if I win I would donate to a buddy is the US as we don’t have that coming here 🙂 xxxx
That is cool 🙂
You can never be too careful! We’d love to have it to be sure none of us ever gets lost.
Bunny
Amazingly we found a dog on our walk this morning…followed us for the entire hour and is now at the police station. No collar or tags, amber alert would have been awesome for her.
Great idea as you can never be too careful and we have lost and stolen dog awareness week here so well timed. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
We found a dog this morning and had the police pick her up. The office said that it is a real problem lately that people find pets and keep them. How awful!!! That is stealing if you ask me!
The mom thinks this a great program. I have not shown the inclination – yet – but Maggie used to dig out under the fence and go for walks in the neighborhood and beyond. I am probably going to get one of those ID’s. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
We figure the more ways to help us find our way back home the better. We found a lost dog this morning and had the police pick her up. Hopefully her owners will get her back soon.
Here in Doodleville, we’re all about protection. Must say between chips, tags, GPS and now this, it does make a pup family feel better knowing these devices are out there. Very cool…
We found a lost dog this morning and had animal control pick her up. The officer told us that lately there is a big problem with people keeping pets they find rather than turning them over to the police or other organizations. Now that is scary!
I would LOVE to have this product! I have huskies which are notorious for being runners and escape artists. I would feel a lot safer if I had this! Great giveaway and thanks for sharing!
I tried to follow @mobiPET2 on twitter, but it says that name doers not exist, so I followed the regular @MobiPET name. Not sure if that mistake is just on my end or not, but I could not find the other name. Thanks!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We have had that happen too on occasion. Not sure what is up with that. Mom had a husky in the house as a kid and he was always busting out and getting brought home by the police! Hope you win!
This is a great idea! Hopefully they find success in the US and can expand to Canada.
I like that the tag is not bulky and could be good for cats. Like you, we once had a cat go outside never to come home again. Incredibly sad.
The tag is really light and has a coating over the number so it won’t rub off. The more safe guards the better we think.
Very cool idea. Many people don’t know about microchips and might not scan for them. Anything that helps lost pets get home is great in my book.
Exactly! Weird too that we found a lost dog this morning that didn’t even have a collar!
I like the idea of being able to mobilize searchers in your area, very cool. Of course my big worry is always Delilah. She’s my runner, and while she typically comes back it’s always worrisome.
You never know, so we like all the protection we can get!
Oh and I forgot to mention, my mom had a cat that went missing once. We searched and called for him but suspect someone found him and took him in, he was a really nice cat. I still feel so badly that he was lost.
We never found Tom and Mom still feels bad but he was a cat that had to go out or he would ruin the house out of frustration.
Oh I’m so sorry to hear your lost your kitty a few years back. I don’t worry about losing my dog, but I do have an indoor cat that will sometimes try to bolt outside. If MobiPET even helps a couple of pets get home safely, it would be worth it.
You just never know when something totally unexpected might happen that causes a dog or cat to get loose. Even a car accident. We are seat belted in, but if she wriggle loose, who knows. Better safe than sorry.
Anything to help pets find there way home is a great idea.
Exactly!
This is very cool, I can’t believe it’s taken this long to come out with an app like this though.
We also lost a cat a few years ago. It is so sad and frustrating to never know what happened to them. Our beagle Kobi used to escape, but luckily never went further than the neighbors. But this is something I worry about since I follow lost pet FB pages in our area and see how many really do go missing, some of which are never found. This is actually a very exciting new service and I’d love to be a part of it, even to maybe become a Pet Finder.
Cats have it really rough since they tend to hide, but dogs are at least more friendly and easy to spot. We now have the tags, but hope we never need them.
Emma, that’s a very important thingy. I wish we had such a service too . It’s the worst to miss a dog or cat, even to think about it makes me sad. I hope this app will help all peeps and pets to get together again.
They want to expand to other countries once it gets going, so maybe one day!
Great idea! I hope it really works and we would sure sign up to be a finder.
Finders are important!
Now that is super cool, Emma! Thanks for letting us all know about this great service/product even before it “hits the shelves”!

Sometimes I get my long furry ears in on things others don’t know about yet 🙂
Gotta look into Mobipet!
It is a great idea. Sign up to get one for free, two winners will be chosen.
Goodness Emma, we entered because my mom would go crazy if I ever got lost. I know your mom would too! Those sound like they could save us!
We found a lost dog this morning with no collar/tags…we were thinking what a sign for mobiPET! If we had an amber alert photo we would have contacted the owners, but we had to send her with animal control instead.
I want this for my son that’s in the Air Force. He just moved bases, and his dog has been acting a bit weirdly. I’m worried he’s going to bolt out the door on him one of these days. This sounds like a really good system to keep him safer.
Awesome. Some dogs have a hard time moving around. We used to move a lot and really liked it because new places were lots of fun but you are right. For many dogs it is a stresser and they may run away. Hope you win!
What a great service and terrific review (of course!) – sharing.
Thank you. Anything to find lost pets is great in our book.
That’s a pretty cool thing! We’ve found quite a few lost pets that have wandered up our hill. Some have been easy to find their homes and some not so easy. This mobipet would be a good thing to have.
We have found 5 dogs in the 6 years we have lived here, and coincidentally found one the morning of this post with no collar or tags. A photo would have been great as we could have just called the owners.
Twitter awarded us our name back so folks can follow on mobipet instead of mobipet2
Thank you. I was wondering what happened as mobipet2 worked fine and then all of the sudden it did not work.
What a great idea! Mommy thinks Diesel needs this just in case he gets lost!
You can never carry too much ID is what Mom says.
That sounds like an excellent product. Thanks for the giveaway!
We think it is a great idea, the more security the better!
A brilliant idea, Emma. Hope the product releases in the market asap and help people find their lost pets (y)
They are saying it will be out of beta in June.
