My friends, you may have noticed it has been a while since I have mentioned a spa visit. I have been looking pretty shaggy too, not that I care, but it makes Mom nuts. Sadly my spa person, Emily, moved away meaning I needed to find a new doggy spa. I know there is a groomer on every corner, but my coat is not like most. My fur needs to be stripped not trimmed and most grooming places won’t do that. The other problem I have is most groomers don’t know how to groom my breed. Lucky for me, the girl that pulls my ear hair moved to a new doggy spa and the owner, Susan, agreed to spiff me up!
I packed up my wallet and some reading material for my trip to the spa. I was a bit nervous going to a new groomer. Mom had talked to Susan a couple times and discussed how my coat should be done. They emailed photos and Susan even contacted a GBGV breeder for some advice. She really wanted to do a good job on my fur and Mom trusted her.
The spa I went to is called Fancy Paws. It surely fits me because Mom often calls me little miss fancy panties.
I was hesitant to go inside and wanted to just sit on the sidewalk for a bit to get my nerve up. Part of my brain said run like you see a wabbit…get out of here, but the other side said I needed to be a big girl and get spiffed up.
The waiting area is kind of small, but fancy. I like fancy, so that was good. It is also black and white with red accents. I am black, white and tan and Mom says I look great with red, so I looked good in the place. It is always important to match well.
Here is my before photo up on the table. I have to admit, I was pretty shaggy and dirty, but what is really wrong with that? Being all clean is way overrated. Look at my tail (yes that is my tail, I am not a boy)…I was scared out of my fur…and then the worst happened! Mom left me! Yep, she just walked out the door and left me.
Thankfully after three hours Mom returned. I told Susan to call her to say I was still alive and needed a ride home. She told Mom that I was such a nice girl, so well behaved and did such a great job being groomed. I am awesome, so for me it was no surprise. We took an after photo and I have to admit I do look darn pretty, and I feel much lighter! My tail is still nervous, but a bit looser.
Where is the mischief? Susan ratted me out to Mom. Every time I was allowed on the floor to roam a bit and stretch, I went to the reception desk and dug around in the trash can hauling out the good stuff. I thought my secret trash addiction was safe with Susan, but evidently not…next time I will have to be more sneaky! Despite her “telling on me”, if you are in the south metro and are looking for a great doggy spa, give Fancy Paws a try, you will not be disappointed!
Just a reminder that I have two giveaways going on right now:
I’m joining in the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.
Three hours of pampering, that’s so cool Emma. You looks beautiful xxoxxxx
Mollie and Alfie
It is hard work getting beautified 😉
Tell me’z about it BOL xxxxx
🙂 Maybe we need to over throw the doggy spas of the world?
You’re so brave, Emma! And it was worth it, you look fantastic all prettied up 🙂
Sometimes I just have to be a big girl and deal with stuff like the dog spa.
Wow that place sure IS “Fancy!” Must cost an arm and a PAW BOL! BOL! BOL! My Mom is cheap, I get groomed at the VET! Yep, there are groomers at my vet! You are lookin’ great!!! Happy Monday!
No matter where I go it is never cheap because stripping fur is not easy. It is reasonably priced and Mom wants to make sure I go to a good place since she tells me all the time I represent my breed and need to look good.
You look beautiful Emma. I know it can be scary to be left alone at the spa but look how nice it all turned out. Katie is one big hot mess right now because her groomer isaway. She looks like a black/brown PBGV. Two more weeks to she is clean again.
I’m good for a few months now, whew! Soon it will be summer and swimming time, then I will need to get spiffed up again.
I would love a spa day – the doggies, not so much. – Dogdaz Mom, Lorian
I really don’t mind it, but I put on a good act of panic while Mom can see me 🙂
You do look smart after your time at the spa. I hope your tail has relaxed a bit now!
I have it back where it belongs like a wagging saber 🙂
Wow that is a fancy waiting area. Glad you survived the spa day and we have to say you are looking lovely for it. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
I should get a tshirt saying I survived the spa! LOL!
You look even more beautiful than before Emma, if that’s possible. Too bad you can’t totally trust Susan…whatever happened to “Only your hairdresser knows for sure”…I thought that meant they kept your secrets!
I thought they were supposed to be like bartenders, but now I know the truth!
Oh a spa day!!!!! How nice!!!!! My huskies hate spa days!!! They do not like my poor groomer at all! Well, they like her, but they don’t like her tools!!! BOL
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I like my groomer, just don’t like the whole getting fancy thing.
You look fantastic. And doesn’t it really feel better to be clean and spiffy?
It does feel good to get all that old fur off, less to carry around and I look thinner.
Oh Emma you look fabulous! Not that you didn’t before of course. Sounds like Miss Susan did a really good job preparing for your arrival!
She is awesome and very nice to me too 🙂
What a brilliant read and a fab transformation too!
We loved your blog so much we decided it a good idea to follow you!
Happy Monday Mischief!
Louise & Bernie 🙂

Thank you so much! Glad you are going to be regular “fun seekers” 🙂
Wow, Susan did a great job. Your coat looks shiny and brand spanking new.
I got rid of a lot of fur that is for sure. No need for a diet, but just getting all the fur stripped makes one look leaner.
Emma, we are glad you put on your BIG girl panties and dealt with it!! You look absolutely pawsome! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Sometimes a dog just has to do these things. That is what Mom tells me anyway. She could do it at home, but I keep squirming making it too hard.
Emma you look smashing. I’ve got two Doodles over here fighting for your paw in marriage! You look so Doodle*tastic, we’re gonna pin your photo up in Doodleville!
Wow a GBGV pin up girl! I bet the doodle boys enjoy getting all fancied up, I kind of like the dirty look, but clean does feel good and less fur too!
*swoons over photo* Emma, you look just beautiful after your spa day! I feel your pain in finding a good groomer since I need to be stripped and not trimmed as well. I am glad you found a new place to beautify.
*Cairn cuddles*
Oz
You do know what a problem it is to find someone to strip your coat. It seems pretty simple to us, but I just squirm too much for Mom to do it completely, so I need to go in every few months to have it done.
You look mighty beauwoowooooootiful!
Thank you!
Glad you were able to find a place that could properly strip her coat! My mom has a mixed breed dog that technically should be stripped but nobody around her area will do it.
You look great!!
You look fantabulous, Emma! I feel your mom’s pain. In my 35 years of living in this area, I’ve only found 2 people (show-persons) that were willing to strip–and one of them was willing to teach stripping but not continue doing it forever. I had to go learn stripping from her to keep my Airedales looking right–and now Vlad requires partial stripping (but it’s “cheat stripping” done with Coat Kings). Honestly I found it easier to learn stripping all those years ago than to learn using clippers for Vlad.
We use the cheat stripper coat king too. Sometimes areas need real hand stripping, but the coat king does a pretty good job.
Emma you look wooo-hooo-nderful! Have you found a trashure in the trash can? Maybe a ole hamburger or a bubble gum? Have a super monday!
I would love to find some good food, but I just find paper and stuff to shred.
You look fabulous my dear!
Thank you, I did need a clean up!
You look mahvoulus! First mom got all excited because of the waiting room and then you told about your mom leaving and not coming back for 3 hours. Thankfully I am low maintenance because my mischief would have been hanging myself from the leash trying to run after her! Love Dolly
Mom is always afraid I will jump and hang myself but I really do well with staying on the table, it is much to far to jump!
AAARRROOOOO! Oh Emma,, you look gorgeous! I need my mom to print your photo out so I can carry it in my wallet. I’m glad that you found a great stylist. I never have to go get groomed but Pierre goes to a really cool place. It has designer doggie clothes and a daycare. He likes to go get foo-foo’ed up. Mom says that you look beautiful too! Your Basset, Bentley
Thanks, Bentley! I don’t like getting all foo foo, but sometimes it does feel good to have a nice bath with a little massage and get rid of all that thick fur. I look like I lost a few pounds since the fluff is gone!
You are a heartbreaker either way, sweet Emma!
Thank you 🙂
You do look mighty fine and fancy Emma!
Arroooo! That means a lot coming from a cat!
Emma, you look beautiful! I’m so glad you got brave enough to go…it’s not easy when you have to go to a new place, and hopefully next time you won’t be quite as nervous.
Two things in life my my fur quiver, the vet and the spa. They are all super nice but these places just scare me!
Wow Miss Emma! You’re looking GOOOOOOD! I’m going to have to find a groomer for Chewy. He also has to be stripped. *sigh* The things we find out AFTER adopting dogs …
At least he isn’t as big 🙂 Get yourself a coat king. Mom uses that for in between stripping.
You look fantastic, Emma! Bummer about her ratting out your trash trips!
I really thought it would be our secret, but I guess not. Oh well, I didn’t get in trouble so it is all good.
you sure are pawesome Ems and look fab too!
Thanks, Misaki!
Your fur is all nicely fluffed up! I think I’d rather stay a dirty pup forever. If only I could convince my family that dirty dog smells delightful…
I know, I feel the same way, but actually getting the coat stripped feels kind of good.
Lookin’ good! I have to be stripped too – my momma does it.
My mom does it all the time, but after a few months it needs to be seriously done and I am not still enough so Mom has it done.
You look very pretty Emma! Hope the weather will warm up so you can enjoy your new do. 🙂
It feels good just having less coat but I think it is going to get warmer soon.
You look really pretty after your grooming Emma, but you looked like you were warmer for winter before. My girls both need a good grooming, with this cold winter Mica has so much hair you can hardly find her skin:)
I did have a pretty thick coat going there, so it felt good to have it thinned out…just not real fond of the process.
You look beautiful. Just remember, you can’t trust anyone including your groomer.
Yes, I am figuring that out I guess. Oh well, humans…that is just how they are!
Can’t believe she ratted you out but on the bright side, you look beautiful. Furgive but never furget and of course, be more sneaky!
I have to work on my sneakiness for next time 😉
Emma, you look superb. What a great groomer! Who doesn’t love a bit of garbage here and there?
-Livvie, from MatildasJourney.com
I love to haul it all out and make a real mess, but at home all the garbage is locked away so I have to live out my hobby elsewhere.
your new groomer did a great job. you are now ready for your close up!
wags, bailey unleashed
Mom was waiting to take some of my photos until I finished getting groomed so I looked a bit more decent!
I thought you looked cute before, Emma, but I have to admit that you do look quite spiffy in that last shot! You look even more beautiful than usual!
Bunny
Sometimes a girl just has to give in and get all fancied up. It does feel good to have a load of fur taken off.
Looking lovely as always!!
Thank you…blushing under my fur..
Wow Emma
Check you out, I didn’t even think you could look better and now you do! 🙂
I understand the whole nerves thing, I’ve never been to a groomer so I’ve not been nervous but my Mum is too nervous that they’d not know what to do with my coat too, so she just does it herself, maybe one day I’ll have to go?
Glad you weren’t too scared to have mischief on your mind, I’m proud of you!
Wags to all,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
My mom doesn’t have the patience and I am too squirmy!
She did a beautiful job, think you should keep her.
I will definitely be going back to her in a few months.
Stripping sounds so HARSH. I would imagine you would be hesitant to go inside for something like that. 🙁
Stripping sounds like a bad career choice, really 😉 The stripping isn’t so bad, it is more the ear pulling I just really dislike.
