Happy April Fool’s Day! This is no joke, I’m making chicken cookies! Around here, the mini humans always seem to be going door to door selling stuff we don’t need. Most of the time Mom politely declines to buy stuff unless we know the mini humans. Last winter, a little boy we know down the road came by selling cookie dough from Heartland Gourmet. Mom didn’t really need any but wanted to buy something. As luck would have it for us pups, they had Gourmet Cookie Dough in Chicken Flavor for dogs! Mom ordered some and today I am baking it up.
We have never used premade dough before. Boy is it simple! I barely needed to get my baking hat and apron on! All I had to do was put balls of dough on the cookie sheet, but I did feel the need to sniff the batter to make sure it smelled okay and it sure did!
I wonder how many cookies we will get from this dough? It smells so good, I sure hope we can make lots of cookies.
Bailie was one of my two assistants on this project. First she was in charge of cleaning up anything I might drop on the floor.
Bailie, did some naughty work when I wasn’t looking too. Shame on her for counter surfing! Kids these days are really lacking good manners!
Cat bro Bert, my other assistant, couldn’t keep his grubby paws of my cookies either! I guess if they smell that good raw, they will be pawsome when they are baked!
They popped out of the oven in just ten minutes and then it was time to have a look and get ready to taste them! We elected to eat outside since the weather was pretty nice. Boy are these chicken cookies good, and the kitchen smells like chicken too!! Homemade cookies might be healthier, but these are to drool for!
No joke, no April Fool, I am barking about food today, and it is Tasty Tuesday, so naturally I am joining the Tasty Tuesday blog hop sponsored by Kolβs Notes and Sugar the Golden Retriever. If you are looking for tasty ideas, take a look at what other dogs are baking and eating!
Bravo you sure cooked up a storm and what better way to celebrate the good weather than to snuffle them alfresco. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Happy April Fools.
Best wishes Molly
They are super yummy. Wish I could eat them all at once!
Woof! These sound great!
Trust this dog, they are fabulous!
Chicken cookies, oh no, they sound delish and Jack can’t have chicken! Do they have other flavors?
Jack, no chicken? That is a bummer. I think they have cheddar ones.
Is that real grass in the background??? Do those cookies look yummy! In fact, I think I can smell them all the way down here in Florida. Just kidding, April Fool!!! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Yes, the grass is reappearing, BUT a snowstorm is headed this way for Thurs and Fri. We shall see. I will have to stay in and eat my cookies I guess.
Wow, even I could make those. The dogs would really love me then,
It doesn’t get any easier than baking these.
Oooh, wonder where to get that, my gang would love it. You’re all so good at posing, great job baking, and great photos!
There is a link in the first paragraph to their website. Looks like they only have one kind right now and it is cheddar.
Haha that photo of Bert kills me. I love his focus on the hunt.
He would be an awesome hunter outside for sure. He is so food driven!
Silly Bert, those cookies are for dogs! π tee-hee. Nice cooking Emma!
That cat eats anything…even electrical cords…a very bad cat he is!
Wow, what a super tasty post! I think Bailie is related with my mom, she does the same while making cookies (therefore we can’t sell it to our neighbors to make some wonga)…. hehe that was an April Fool’s joke… I’m the one who is related with Bailie and therefore we better don’t sell our cookies LOL Have a tasty tuesday!
Heavens no selling cookies…we have to eat them, that is the fun of baking them π My mom is always licking out bowls too when she bakes.
I can almost smell them baking! You lucky dogs! Love Dolly
OMD!!! yumwumwum!
They are yumwumwum!
mmmm those sure do look tasty!!!! Thanks for sharing!!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
They are really good and we love how they smelled the house up like chicken!
Chicken cookie dough?! I think I may have died and gone to heaven! I’ve got to get my paws on some of that!
Bunny
I know, can you believe it, and it was being sold by mini humans for their school. We got super lucky!
We need to find one of these kids selling this stuff!
I should have ordered 100 bags and then sold them to my friends for cost plus shipping π
Wait – we just saw your snowstorm comment. SERIOUSLIES?? That’s just…WRONG. We’re crossing our paws that it’s over for us finally! And we’re dying to know who pranked you today for April Fool’s!
Yes, they say Thurs into Fri snow and we are right now dead center in the middle of its path, no joke! Kimberly Gauthier on fb and Eko on his blog, we stepped right into those jokes.
It’s nice to see you dining out on the deck, for now anyway! We prefer homemade too, but sometimes quick and easy is the way to go. I think your assistants need some re-training there, Emma! π
My assistant program appears to be a disaster. A busy dog such as myself doesn’t have time to work with and train this mischievous siblings!
Oh yum! Which came first, the chicken or the cookie?
I think the chicken was first in this case.
Emma, Mom and I always enjoy you in your cooking wear. She said no munchkins come to our house anymore. The cookie dough is a great fundraising idea. Mom used to sell cookie dough for humans every year when she coached cheerleaders. I hate that i wasn’t around in those days! Your assistants are cute but mischievous! Obviously, not the gourmet cook that you are. <3 Your basset, Bentley
Bentley, good help is hard to find these days! Luckily I manage to continue my baking despite the antics of my assistants. Maybe you should be happy that there are no mini humans in your house. It gives you all the attention that way π Sending you a chicken cookie in my thoughts
No freakin’ way! Are you serious? This isn’t some crazy April Fool’s joke? Chicken cookies? That sounds YUMMAZING!
No joke, they are chicken cookies. Those mini humans finally had something decent to sell!
Those look so yummy! I’ve never seen chicken flavored cookie dough. I’ve made Sadie peanut butter dog cookies before, but she didn’t really like them. I wonder if chicken flavor would be better for my little picky eater. Happy April Fool’s Tasty Tuesday!
I bake a lot of different types of cookies for my sisters and I, but this is the first time we had chicken cookies!
Sounds yummy!
They are, but unfortunately, Mom keeps them locked up and passed them out a bit to sparingly in my opinion.
Mom says she wishes the kids around here sold that instead of stuff that she shouldn’t be eating!
Exactly whey Mom bought that cookie dough. She was going to get some quadruple chocolate something for herself that she didn’t need, so this was perfect.
So did Bert tried it π Hey! Your snow is melting. Happy Tasty Tuesday. Golden Woofs
Bert will try anything! Snow is really melting but the snowstorm is still headed right for us tomorrow and Friday…we shall see how it plays out.
Hope they tasted as good as they smelt. I think you missed a trick though – you should have shaped them into little chickens!!
Have you tried to shape balls into chickens with your paws? I’m not a sculpture artist! I thought about rolling them out and using my squirrel cutter since I hear squirrel tastes like chicken but decided to go super simple this time.
I stick to machines which make the bones and cubes and all other of shapes. I just know you are supper talented and wanted to give you the challenge – oh you should so have a challenge Emma segment of your blog BOL!!
You mean a baking challenge? Baking is a self rewarding behavior which is why I love it, but I have no problem chowing down on the tasty stuff from machines π Anything category snack is good for me as long as there aren’t too many veggies in it.
Chicken cookies sound yummy!
I think chicken anything is pretty tasty!
Those look yummy. I like the idea of pre-made dough. I have no time for anything else…lol.
We never had premade before, but it sure was quick and easy!
Those sound delicious Emma, Lexie loves chicken:)
They are awesome!
Those look mmmm, mmmmm good!
They are so good and simple since all I had to do was scoop and bake.
hehehe you got bert to wear the hat too. Nice job making yummy cookies. Great photos.
He will do anything for food!
That looks like my kind of cooking! All that mixing up ingredients takes too much time!
We kind of enjoy real baking but this was a fun change up and super tasty!
Yay! Bert got some! Hey, we kitties stick up for each other. Or should. Chicken sounds good!!
Don’t worry about Bert! That cat gets plenty of food and if he is hungry he can steal like no tomorrow!
You and Bailie look really cute when you’re cooking. I think the smell must have been heavenly to get a picture like that of the cat!
That cat is so food obsessed! He is worse than any dog!
You look like old hands in the kitchen!
I love to bake, a self rewarding behavior, you know. My assistants cause a lot of trouble, but I have things pretty well under control.
