I love to travel! I started traveling on the day I turned nine weeks old when I left my dog parents in the UK. Mom flew to England to adopt me and I flew with her to my new home in Germany. While in Germany I traveled to Belgium and the Netherlands, and at the age of ten months I flew to the USA. That makes five countries, and two continents for this GBGV.Once in the USA, I started traveling to different states. Right now I have nine under my fur, but will be adding a few more on my trip to BlogPaws next month. I’ve been to Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida so far.
Do you travel with your dog? My sisters and I love a good car ride, although after two long car days we do start getting bored. I am not much for flying since I have to be below instead of in the cabin, but sometimes it is the only way to go. Mom has traveled all over the world starting as a young girl, in college, becoming a flight attendant, and then living in Germany for ten plus years. She thinks it is great for us pups to experience new places just like it is important for humans.
Do you travel with your pets? Where all have your pets traveled to?
I amΒ joining the Black and White Sunday Blog Hop sponsored by Dachshund Nola and Sugar the Golden Retriever. Sometimes photos are simply more fun in black and white!
Sugar LOVES car rides. We are looking forward on our road trip next month. Maybe will see you on the road π Happy Black n White Sunday. Golden Woofs
You guys are driving too? I thought you were going to fly? It will be two long days each way, like going to Florida.
Gosh we are not international at all. Having Ancient Pip limited what we could do. Maybe some time soon I can go on a trip.
Have a serene big easy Sunday.
Best wishes Molly
Trips are lots of fun as there is always something new.
Emma, you have quite the exciting life! We aren’t big travelers ourselves, but I hope on our next vacation we can take the dogs with us too, even if we don’t go very far. The girls don’t really like to ride but I hope we can get them more used to it. Luke loves the car, probably because he traveled all the way up here from Alabama!
I think it is like anything else, if you get used to it, you like it. I was riding on the autobahn as a pup, so I love speed and riding.
I love to travel with my folks! I don’t think I will ever fly though because I won’t want to go below. Are you driving or flying to BlogPaws? We are driving so I’ll have more States then you by then! Love Dolly
We are driving. Mom never wanted her pets to fly, but to get over the Atlantic, it was necessary. We survived, but it was not real fun in the belly of the plane. It was a bit better under the seat when I was nine weeks old. We are driving so I will add four more states to my count. Pretty excited. It sounds like lots of dogs are driving their humans this year.
Wow, you are a world traveler. We aren’t big travelers – probably a result of having to do it a lot for business. Our trips with the dogs usually involve a ‘stay-cation’ or going someplace close to home like Big Bear. We love going in the car though, even if it’s just a ride to the store.
Mom is the one that isn’t much for traveling since she traveled her whole life. She likes to just stay home but wherever she goes, we like to go along.
You are some traveling doggy fur sure!
My previous cats did lots of traveling too, but they did not seem to enjoy it very much!
You’re a bicontinental doggy like Tootsie the Dachshund , Emma :o) We would like it to travel, but sadly the Airlines say I can only fly in the cargo area, so my mom said, no. So we use the car, but only for shorter trips. And that means that we can forgot the plan to travel to Monte Carlo this summer, it’s too far away :o) But I’m sure we will find another place we can afflict this summer…
Mom never wanted us in cargo, but it was the only way to get over the Atlantic, so we had to do it that one time.
I agree, Emma. For a move or very important things it is a possibility. But just for a holiday we better wait till we have the doggy-airways or Pawed Wings :o)
It does stink that we can’t just buy a ticket and fly with our humans!
Wow! You really have traveled a lot, haven’t you? We’ve traveled some with our crew, but none of them has ever left the U.S. or been on a plane.
I recommend a car trip. Planes are scary in the belly. In the cabin it was weird but not as frightening.
Sounds like a song: Emma the travelin’ dog. π
–Woofs (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats
Feel free to write the tune and lyrics π
Yep, we travel. It’s what we do. We still get bored in the truck after too many hours though, thankfully, we stop often.
You guys are serious US travelers! I bet you have a ton of miles under your fur!
It’s hard to travel with Katie. She would need to go in the belly of the plane and I won’t do that. We go from NY to CT every weekend and I was thinking of driving to Florida You guys are so lucky that you are such good travelers and even luckier that you Mom takes you.
The belly of the plane is bad, not even a meal or anything down there but to get from Germany to the US, we had to do it. Mom loves to travel with us. She flew for so many years, now she likes to be in the car, take all the stuff she wants to along with us and we can just travel as we please.
I love to ride in the car. I have only been in 2 states Minnesota and Florida Minnesota had snow and Florida has my chilly pool which I swam in yesterday. I shivered and the mom told me to suck it up ’cause I played in the snow at 8 weeks of age! Next month I am getting into a bigger Sherpa bag and flying to Pennsylvania for the PBGV Nationals. Wish I could count the states I have flown OVER! Have a super Sunday! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
So are you in the show or just observing? Planes are not so much fun. We like traveling in the car much better so at least we can look out the window.
I am observing and I am entered in the Champions of the Heart parade. I am just a silly companion dog that may do some obedience. I just had another swimming lesson. The mom makes if fun. Hope your mom put ice on her nose and it feels better. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Her nose is sore and a bit red and swollen, but she will be okay. She should know better then to hold food by her face and camera with that sister of mine around! Have fun swimming!
We don’t get to travel much cause once we get in the car, there isn’t any room for the humans and mom won’t leave us at home without each other:(
My mom has trouble leaving some of us behind, but she tries to take us all sometimes and sometimes switches and takes one or two. The car is pretty full if we all three go.
Bentley hasn’t traveled with us anywhere. We are going to get a new car with him in mind this summer. Then, it is wide open traveling!
You mean one that he will be able to drive, or just ride in? Mom even bought the house with us in mind…we have her priorities set straight!
Oh Emma, you must come to VA one day soon. We could tour the Nations Capital and take wonderful photos together. Tell your mom…. Harley & Leo
That would have been an awesome addition to BlogPaws last year, but I didn’t know you guys and Mom took flat Emma. Maybe one day, we will see. Mom has been to DC a lot and says it has lots of nice sites but they would all look better with furry ones in the photos!
Nope, no traveling here because I don’t like the car at all. Barks and licks and love, Dakota
What! That is a real bummer. I look riding down the highway, just miss that speed on the autobahn.
Great picture and wow you are one lucky girl to have traveled to all those places. My gang loves to travel with us also, they go where ever we go for hunt tests and hunting the furthest place has been Saskatchewan.
I haven’t made it to Canada yet, but if Bailie gets into tracking as we suspect she will, it sounds like we will be heading to Canada a few times a year. Saskatchewan is gorgeous according to my mom.
Two of my dogs LOVE car rides and traveling! But my one gets car sick, poor thing. Their fav trip is to the park!! BOL!!
α¦ husky hugzΒ α¦Β frum our pack atΒ Love is being owned by a husky!
We couldn’t believe dogs really get car sick, but it is true. Luckily none of us do. Mom had us on the road at a young age in the hope of preventing that.
I didn’t realize you were such a well traveled dog. π Nailah has been on a lot of car trips but she’s never left Florida. So far she’s been to 4 cities.
Oh yes, we travel. Mom doesn’t care much for traveling having traveled the world most of her life she is happy to stay home so if possible she travels by car and with us.
Ohh this photo is just perfect! We have never traveled internationally but all pups like a bit of car action if they can get it!
Hugs, Carrie (Myfie, Ellie and Millie) x
Car action is great, but those 12+ hr car days do get a bit long. Luckily we forget about it once we hit our destination!
I knew there was something special about you, Emma! I haven’t done any long road trips myself, but maybe lots of short ones. They’re fun too.
Short trips are just as much fun π
I has never been outta da country but I has been to a lotta states – Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire!
I’s been traveling by car, plane, and subway. All I need are a boat trip!
Wow, I think you definitely win a prize for all those states! Super cool! I hope to get in some more states by car. I have been on a boat, but just a smaller one on a lake. It is probable easier for a smaller dog like you to travel by plane and stuff too. Have a pawsome week!
Wow you really are well traveled – I bet you would make some two leggers jealous never mind a lot of dogs. Well done you and mum!
Lots of those humans want to travel, I hear that all the time. We are lucky to get around a lot.
We’ve been to the Twilight Zone and back – aka the V-E-T. DOes that count? π
Yikes, no! The vet is not a fun place…you have to go somewhere fun π
You sure have traveled a lot. Brown dawgs mostly travel for hunt tests and some shows. Storm went to PA for the National Specialty, but we didn’t go with her. π
Storm went alone? Did she take the car or walk? With three of us it is harder to travel, but we will still try to see as much as we can. It is probably more difficult to find a pet sitter for three dogs.
LOL Actually she went with her breeder, but as far as other brown dawgs were concerned, she went alone.
You certainly ARE a well travelled hound, Emma. π We once took our poodle to the Italian Riviera (See “F” is for Finale Ligure, if you’re interested), and moved from Germany to Canada with her, but that was about it, except for the odd day trip. Happy Trails!
Germany to Canada is a big trip, just like our move from Germany to the USA. It is nice to take the pooches when it works.
Well, you certainly do get around! I love a good road trip. And I’ve been in airplanes a few times – back when I was a guide dog pup. Being a guide dog pup, I was allowed in the cabin to sleep under my Mom Person’s feet. Nice. You need to come visit Texas sometime.
I could be a guide dog as I can guide anyone to a wabbit, but I don’t think the airlines would see it that way π No more flying hopefully, but lots of car rides.
car rides are best!!
We love to ride along.
I love to travel in the car. They’ve driven a very long way sometimes to avoid flying so that I can be with them.
That would be us too. We are driving to Vegas next month so we can go along.
