I had to go to the vet last Friday. Mom knows how scared I am about going there, so she packed up my sisters too and we all headed out together. She promised us all a fun surprise on the way home and it turned out to be a visit to the dog park. We got to go to the dog park together with Bailie for the first time. Katie and I have gone “dog parking” together for years, and Bailie went once in December with Mom but all three of us have never gone together.
Mom got up all her guts as taking all three of us could be a challenge. We went to a dog park we rarely go to as Mom thinks it is too wooded in the summer and other times she finds it boring. It was a beautiful spring day so we were expecting lots of dogs, but luck was on our side and when we pulled in we were the only ones! I know it is still brown and not springy looking, but we are just happy for brown instead of white for a change.
As Mom was getting us out of the car another car with three Golden Retrievers showed up. Mom wasn’t too concerned as they seemed to be nice dogs. The problem with my pack at a dog park is as follows: Katie is older and doesn’t like other dogs jumping on her, she is also scared of dogs larger than she is and she tends to get mean with them, Me, I just prefer to do my thing, not real up for romping with strangers, Bailie, we have no idea if she will take off, hang out with us or what.
Bailie did lots of “off roading”. She would dash into the woods and then come flying back out. Mom was real nervous that we would have to go searching for her, but she always came back. We were impressed!
We kind of liked the three Goldens. They were doing their thing but let us mix in and we actually walked the entire perimeter of the dog park twice with them like a big old pack!
Bailie was really enjoying the freedom and ability to just run wild at the dog park. She was always way out ahead of us and this was her typical pose as if to say, “What is the hold up, are you slowpokes coming or what?”.
Her teenage attitude came out too as she kind of joined the “Golden” family and pretended to be with them and not us. I think maybe we embarrassed her or something. The Goldens were nice and tolerant, even did some sniffing with her.
I met a friend I kind of enjoyed hanging out with, a Catahoula Leopard Dog. What a cool coat she had! Unfortunately, the colors don’t show in the photo. We have never seen one in the fur before. Her dad said they go to this dog park a lot, maybe we will run into each other again.
Towards the end of our dog park experience Katie was getting real tired and slow. Mom decided to put Katie back in the car, and let Bailie and I play a bit longer. It is hard getting old as she gets so frustrated not being able to keep up, it is sad for us. Bailie and I posed together for another photo.
Does my little sister look like she had fun or what? All three of us had a total blast, but for the little stinker it was especially fun. Mom took more photos of Bailie as she was the busy one and being her first time there, it was special for her. Bailie did so much racing and chasing, she was exhausted. Actually, we all came home and crashed out. What a great way to get some fun exercise into our day! Now we are planning to take her to our favorite dog park where she hasn’t been yet as soon as it is nice out again!

That is a pawsome lark in the park and looks like you had lovely weather too. Have a fabulous fit Friday.
Best wishes Molly
We had a pawsome walk, saw some critters, had breakfast and now embarking on the morning nap 🙂
Hooray! We love the dog park too, Emma! The first time mom took my sister Lilly and me to a dog park where I could run without a leash she said I kept running back to her and jumping around me. She said it was like I was saying “thank you! thank you! I love the dog park!” Sure wish we could go off leash more. My sister Lilly is like Bailie and goes “off road” too! Silly girls. We love the pictures of your adventure. Have a great Friday, your doodle friend, Dash
I used to go off road a lot and make Mom nervous too, but I have mellowed and become much more sensible with age. Now I stay within eyesight at least 🙂 We like the dog park when it isn’t real busy, usually go during the week. Have a great Easter weekend!
Looks like a great park and that you guys had lots of fun. Nothing like the freedom of being off the leash huh? Sorry that Katie kind of pooped out – that’s what happens when you get older, but I bet she had lots of fun with you. Bailie looks like a grown up dog almost!
Bailie is maturing fast…well at least in her looks 😉 She still has that puppiness to her which is cute.
Tell Bailie to sit up straight (in the 1st picture!) You always sit up straight, Emma. It makes Bailie look like a sad, old, hound dog. What fun you had. Have a fantastic Friday. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Bailie is so tall, I think she is always falling over to be at my level. But you do make a good point, she almost always is bent over, something I will have to work on with her!
Thank you, Emma. You have perfect posture. 🙂 Sparkle the PBGV
Bailie’s chiropractor told her to sit right too last fall, so you are not the only one 😉
That looks like so much fun! Mommy doesn’t take us to the dog park cause I leave pee mail everywhere and Teddy is scare of all of the other dogs. When I say pee mail, I mean that I hit every tree, shrub, fence post, etc. I don’t have time to play cause I have to mark everything. Teddy freaks out and mommy doesn’t think it is a good thing for him to get so scared. Since Ash has lost all of that weight, she would probably really like the dog park! Mommy needs to take her and see what she thinks of it!
We each have out thing which is why going with all three of us was a challenge, but we try to go when it isn’t real busy which helps. The first few years we were back in the US, we went at least once a week, now it has been every couple months, but after seeing Bailie, Mom says we may need to go more often for a while.
Three cheers for Bailie for always coming back. Emma you are training her well!
It was nerve wracking for Mom because Bailie was getting more and more brave, but we did not lose her and it was all good!
It looks like you all had a blast, Emma! I am so glad Katie gets out and about with you and the “kid”, even if she tires out a bit sooner. Someday we will all get “older” and slower, but I sure hope we still get some good playtime in even then!
Happy Friday,
Oz
We are having to leave her behind more and more as she just can’t keep up and she doesn’t always want to go along but it is always best when our whole pack is together! Getting old is just not easy.
What fun! Looks like the snow FINALLY left.
If we look hard in shady areas we can still find some, and 40 mins north of here they got 20 inches Thurs night but we lucked out with just rain.
Emma, it looks like you and Baillie had a GREAT time! Baillie is such a teenager! I’m sorry about Katie, but my own twelve year old pooches are in that same boat. It’s hard watching them age. 🙁
Bailie has the bestest of times, I enjoyed myself, Katie probably had almost more fun than me as she loves other dogs and the dog park, but she just can’t do what she used to and she gets frustrated.
wow!!! Looks like you guys had some fun!!!! Nice! Love your photos as usual!!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We had lots of fun, especially that Bailie, she was crazy wild!
Three pups, three wagging tongues, one great time. Nothing beats doing some nice off-roading at the dog park. I bet Emma had a tough time staying awake at the vet.
Vet was first…first work, then fun as a reward! I was a bit tired at the park from the stress of the vet, but I managed to have a good time anyway.
Looks like you guys had a blast! Wish I had a dog park like that! Love Dolly
We have lots of different ones. This one is real wooded, our favorite one is mostly tall grass areas and some small tree areas. There area few that look like our yard, we rarely go there as we like to hike around and stuff.
That looks such a fun dog park, you guys are lucky. Bailie…what a crack up. Torrey does that hurry up and wait thing too.
Bailie really knows how to put the pressure on!
LOL I figured that you would all be exhausted after so much fun. Have a great weekend!
Thanks…may we all find the Easter Bunny 🙂
What a nice looking park. The parks I’ve been to out here are very small. And most of the owners are clueless so I don’t even bother. I’d like a nice large one with trails and I could let Delilah run to her hearts content.
I bet you all slept really well that night and bravo to Mom, that took guts.
We have lots of bigger parks where we can walk and walk, they are the best kind. The ones that look like our backyard where the humans just stand around telling us to play we don’t like.
My goodness, y’all really do look like you were enjoying your outing!
We had a great time!
That looks like tons of fun! What a cool looking dog park with all the wooded area. I’m sure there is lots to explore there. The leopard dogs do have some pretty cool furs too.
This one has lots of woods making Mom scared to go there when the trees are green because she can’t see us. It is fenced but she likes us within eyesight.
What a fun time! It looks like you found some fun dogs to hang out with. How big is that dog park? We don’t have one very close, but they are trying to put one in the next town over. I don’t think it’s going to be very big though, and it’s just a big field, no woods or anything.
We are lucky and have a variety of different dog parks to choose from. This one is probably around 12-15 acres, our favorite one is 28 acres. Lots of our dog parks have wooded areas as well as tall grassy field areas and trails, some have ponds. There are a few small ones with just grass but they are boring and we rarely go to those.
Wow, that looks like so much fun! What a cool park. Looks like the three of you had a great time. 🙂
We all kind of did our own thing and all had a blast 🙂
You guys seemed to have a lot of fun with the pack.
We did, they were real nice dogs.
This looks like such a fun outing. I wish Barley and I could visit dog parks, but she doesn’t know how to play well with others.
We only go when it isn’t real busy as to many dogs makes us uneasy and “growly”.
Looks like you guys had an awesome time at the park! 🙂 I’m glad you all got along well with the other pups!
The Goldens were ideal for us since they are so mellow.
Those are really terrific photos. i especially like the one of Bailie in the woods and the one of both of them at the end. The Catahoula Leopard Dog is the Louisiana state dog. : ) We think it should be the Basset Hound.
A hound should always be top of the pack! I know these Catahoula Leopard dogs are sort of special and now that you mention it, I think I have heard they are the state dog. Nice as they are, a Basset would be better.
that was great to visit a dog park after you had to see the vet. so your day had a real highlight! I wish we had dog parks here too, it would be great to meet other doggies and maybe such cute one like the golden guys you meet in your park.
It is fun as long as it isn’t too crowded. We have lots of nice big ones so we can really walk and run.
What a great outing with lots of smells and runs. Have a great Easter.
It was super fun and so nice to be out in nice weather for a change. 50 felt like 90! We were so warm! Happy Easter!
Mom’s been to Minnesota – said she wanted to take us the next time she went. From the pictures you shared, we really want to come now. Looks like so much fun….
Come on up, it is a fun place…you may want to come in a season other than winter, though.
Looks like an awesome day, and what a great park! I love how you can all sit and pose for photos together.
The hard part is getting Katie to look at the camera and not give the abused dog face!
Hahaha, “Oh, poor me, look what they’re making me do.” I know that one. XD
🙂
Wow!! What a great day you guys had at the park! And the park looks like so much fun!
We had a really fun time, great weather to be out and enjoy the dog park.
Way to make up for a visit to the vet – looks like brilliant fun!!
Bailie looks thrilled to be out at the park with you! She probably thinks she’s a grown up now!
She had so much fun. Our next problem will be that she won’t want to leave and we won’t be able to capture her!
