As you probably know by now, I took my mom and Bailie on a road trip to BlogPaws in Las Vegas this year. It is about a 24 hour drive, LONG! The first day to Denver was sooo boring! Nothing but fields and fields. The second day was an adventure. Mom never really thought the whole driving through and didn’t realize that from Denver to Vegas is almost all mountains. She also forgot about how cold it would be and was wearing shorts and a t-shirt as we drove through everything from sunshine to rain, snow, sleet, ice, and hail storms, so needless to say we rarely got out for photos! Too cold for Mom!
Today is the See Beautiful blog hop and I found some beautiful shots to show you from day two of our road trip. I also found this plaque in a store and found it to be true!
Not long after leaving Denver we were in the mountains and there was snow! We passed by all the ski resorts and even got to step out and use the bathroom in Aspen…I was disappointed as they did not have “golden” poop bags for dogs. I thought Aspen was for the rich and famous, but I guess they use the same bags as us less rich and famous pups. Look at that beautiful blue sky. Bailie and I have been through the Smoky Mountains on a Florida road trip, so mountains are not new to us, but the snow on them was.
Next in Utah we got into bizarre rock formations and canyons. We did make a stop here for a quick photo as it was a bit warmer than up in the mountains. These rock things are amazing and so many of them. As you can see, there isn’t any grass around. There was no grass around after the mountains which caused an issue. Bailie would not go to the bathroom. She held it all day until we found a patch of grass at the hotel. We went through this when it first snowed in November, now she has to figure out that sand or rock is okay to use too! Silly puppy!
We arrived in Vegas just after 6pm, part one of the road trip – complete. It is a lot like Florida but also different. It smells different too, and there are wabbits all over the place! In this photo I just spotted one. Bailie and I woke Mom up at 4am so we wouldn’t miss anything during our stay. We were told not to leave the hotel grounds until after daylight as the area is full of Coyotes out hunting. We peed quickly and went out again at 6am for walk.
We took another photo after breakfast. The area and the hotel are just so beautiful! Those are a few beautiful shots from our road trip to Vegas. On a fun note, I have now updated my states visited list on my about me page to 14! Bailie is checking in at 13 (she is missing Wisconsin) and Katie has nine. I like to keep my paws traveling!

Emma, I live in Denver! I love the mountains with snow too! My sister and I love when mom takes us hiking in the mountains. And sometimes we have snow, rain and sunshine in one day!! These pictures are wonderful. Looks like you are having a great time in the hotel!! I hope you have a great trip, your doodle friend Dash.
It was real pretty. We are a bit concerned about the drive back as they are talking about snow…yikes!
Just beautiful!!!! I know you pups are having an amazing time!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We are so busy, we actually fell asleep in the expo hall last night!
I think it is just super that you guys have so many road trips together. Where is Katie? She must miss you!
She is at home. Long trips are harder for her with her arthritis and she wouldn’t like all the dogs in close proximity here. She is missing us, but it is for the best right now. We will be back soon and will tell her all about it.
Beautiful shots. What an amazing trip.
The second day sure had some amazing scenery…boring patches too, though.
Road trips always have long, boring stretches (especially in flat, open parts of the country) but it makes you appreciate the punctuating, beautiful sights. Glad you guys got in safely, have a great time.
Those signs of nothing for the next 100 miles are kind of creepy, but we got through.
I am so glad to see you beautiful girls in the fur! You have seen such wonderful country. Poor Bailie, you’ll have to teach her to potty where it is dirt and rock. I’m sure that she’ll catch on quickly.
Mom says I was the same way as a youngster. Love meeting you too…bummer Bentley isn’t here, but there is always next year. Probably see you later!
Looks like you saw some beautiful views. We know it was a long trip but glad you have arrived now. Wabbit TV sounds great. Have a wonderful time and have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
Those wabbits are crazy!
Wonderful photos Emma. I’m so glad you are having a grand time!! Bailie is funny but she will figure it out. Sampson will hold his if it is raining out, I swear once he held it 24 hours!
Katie didn’t do her big business once for three days when Mom was gone!
That drive on I-70 from Denver into Utah is really pretty but can be really cold depending on the time of year. I hope you have a good time at BlogPaws!
It was pretty but it was also not easy. We may go back another way.
It’s not exactly a fun drive the first time and we’re getting snow now so maybe another way back would be a good idea… go south and check out the Grand Canyon!
We had to go south, but it adds a couple hundred miles. Oh well, as long as we are safe.
You are just amazing travelers and always have the best time!
We try to have a lot of fun and experiences.
We’re so happy you all arrived safely… Have a wonderful time and keep those photos coming….
Taking lots of photos, need time to post them now!
Looks like you guys are having a great time! Good for you!
Thanks, we are having fun but it is exhausting.
What a great drive out there with so much beauty to see. Have fun.
It was amazing especially since we didn’t even know about it until we were into it!
Emma what a wonderful adventure to take a road trip across our beautiful country.
Lots of odd weather along the way. MOL on the shorts. years ago my peeps were flying in July to Hawaii. They had a on night layover in San Francisco….IT WAS COLD…AND all they had were shorts and tee shirts.
hugs madi your bfff
Mom wasn’t thinking!
Great photos, Emma! We’re glad you had a safe trip (your Mom must have had the heat cranked up driving through the mountains in shorts!), and thanks for sharing with us even though you are probably very busy having fun at BlogPaws!
Every dog needs a break now and then 😉
I adore the pictures of your trip, especially the ones with your babies in them! They are simply marvelous!
thank you 🙂
Great photos Emma – it was so great to meet you and Bailie in person. It’s been an adventure here in Vegas hasn’t it!
Yes, it has been fun but it has been stressful as well. Now we have to figure out how to get home as there will be snow in CO so we don’t want to go back that way which was the shortest. We will see.
Great pictures!
Thank you.
Emma! You have to find our human and make sure she’s not embarrassing us or anything!! Where are you? We told mommy to find you but she hasn’t been able to yet!!
We don’t know how to find your Mom. Bailie and I have been with Mom the whole time. We asked and Sugar said you were in the elevator with her, but we had no idea how to find you. Such a bummer!
Hi Y’all!
Glad y’all had such a beautiful trip, at least the 2nd part. Can’t wait to hear about all the pawed ones y’all met there!
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
We love road trips with the pups! Unfortunately, Las Vegas was too far for us this year but we might make it to Nashville next year! Much love, The Scottie Mom.
We are thrilled it won’t be so far away next year. The drive to Vegas is really long.
Kudos to you and your mom for taking that route! I am like Bailey, no grass, no business! The La Quinta in Albuquerque probably had the only patch of grass in the southwest and I really appreciated it! Thanks to the Westin Lake Las Vegas for giving us pups grass! Love Dolly
The first day on the way home was terrible too…no grass, just dust storms and tumbleweeds. We are thrilled to be home again, it was a long rough drive back. The Westin was a dream hotel! Stay safe!
You sure got some pretty pictures on your trip. When we stopped on our trip it was so quick that there wasn’t much time to take pictures. We were in boring old rest areas anyway. 🙂
We wish we had had more time to stop and take some great pics, but the drive was really long and we didn’t want to waste time.
