Happy Memorial Day
We finally have some summery warm weather here, which is perfect for this long weekend! I decided to make some fruity ice cream stars for my sisters and I to enjoy outdoors at our Memorial Day picnic. Of course, my food crazed cat bro Bert just had to photo bomb my photo. He was determined to get into the yogurt! Bad cat!
The ingredients are simple – blueberries, strawberries and plain fat free or low fat yogurt. I also am using a star mold, but you can use any shape you like. I start by blending the blueberries with some of the yogurt. Of course, that pesty cat was still trying to get into my ingredients! I find it best to just ignore his antics.
Next I put a layer of blueberries into my mold and freeze it for a bit. I then add a layer of plain yogurt. I found it easiest to smooth it all over in the mold using my tongue.
The third layer is then the strawberries blended with some yogurt. I smooth that mixture on top of the plain yogurt. You need to be careful not to use much pressure or you might blend the layers. As you can see by my smile, I am pretty proud of my work so far.
Once they are frozen, about an hour in the freezer, pop them out of the star mold and serve on a festive platter. They are supposed to be red, white, and blue, but they look more purple, white, and pink.
Wondering how they taste…we seem to have had no problem licking out our patriotic bowls!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day today! If you would like your own PDF copy of my recipe, complete with photos, click here to download it.

My sisters and I kind of made a mess with our ice cream, so I am calling it mischief and I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.
Well, those sure look awfully yummmmy! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your picnic!
They are good and good for us! Happy Memorial Day!

Those look pretty yummy Emma, nice job, even with Bert getting in the way. I love the shades on Katie. Happy Memorial Day!
At least with the shades we can’t see if she is looking nasty because of the photo! That Bert is just never ending, always into food.
Now those look festive and delicious. Have a great Memorial day.
They sure are!

Those look really yummie, Emma! You’re such a good girl baking for your sisters and not eating it all. Love Katie’s glasses, by the way. =D

I would suggest them for the boys, but they never seem to like what I like 😉 Have a great holiday!
While that is adorable…I have to ask you……..do you pick up Sirius with those antenna? BOL!!!
Ha, ha, ha…Go ahead and make fun of my patriotism 😉
That are SUPERSTARS! Well done. I’m more for tea today instead of ice cream, it’s cold and uncomfy outside, but your stars look so tasty, I would eat one or two… while I’m wrapped in a warm blankie :o) Have a wonderful Memorial Day.
You can come to my place to eat them. It is really warm here!
I will hop in the car…I hope our Elephant Skater can swim :o)
Make sure and capture the journey on film 😉
Great effort Chef Emma!!

I’m only sad that it is almost over. Just flew by!
Mom just found our paw print mold! I’m putting her to work in the kitchen right now!
Enjoy! They are nice and tasty!
Wonderful photos and the treats look yummy. We are going to have to save this recipe for a hot day and we have plenty of those on the horizon. We hope all of you are having a wonderful Memorial Day also !
I’m sure there will be plenty of hot days ahead. For us today is hot, so it works for us.
Emma, you are always so festive! And your mom takes the cutest photos of you. No wonder Bert wanted to try the yogurt. I think they look tasty myself! Have a relaxing, fun day!
Mom says they are a bit bland for her taste, she likes a bit more sugar or just plain fruit without sugar, but we love them.
Ann "Paws" Staub says
I think they look great! Did Bert ever get to try some yogurt? Silly kitty!
Of course, his patience paid off and in a moment where I was busy, he licked my yogurt spatula.

We should have known you’d be whipping up something good for your Memorial Day picnic, Emma! I quickly threw together some banana/peanut butter yogurt treats today, but they weren’t fancy like the ones you just made. I might try those for 4th of July for sure!
I like to try to be festive on holidays. These are super easy to make too. Peanut butter and banana sounds good too! Hope you had a great weekend!
Happy Memorial Day! Dose treats look tasty!
They are really good!

Happy Memorial Day! Those treats look so yummy and festive! I love that last picture of all of you! Fantastic!
Thank you. Hope you had some time to just relax after getting the pool down.
Happy Memorial Day! Those treats look so yummy and festive! Thanks for sharing the recipe. 🙂
How cruel would it be to post tasty homemade treats with no recipe! They are super yummy and refreshing.
They look fab
Here is a secret…they taste even better than they look 😉

It was awesome, hope yours was a great one too!

Those look yummy! We hope you had a great Memorial Day Weekend! We have had some challenges here at our house and haven’t been able to visit our friend’s blogs so we are getting caught up tonight!
They were yummy. Hope your computer challenges are over with. Mom gets so mad when things aren’t working right and she has to spend so much time getting things fixed!
