It’s Hot Out! Pool Is Open!
The long awaited 2014 grand opening of my pool has happened. We have temps in the 80’s and my pool is a perfect way to cool off! Look at that crystal clear, cold water! How much more inviting could it get? As you will see, pool time started out perfect but then something fishy happened.
Bailie had not seen my pool before, so she was in for her first time. She was apprehensive about it and didn’t want to do more than sit, but as you can see from the smile on her hound mug, she was liking it!
Mom thought it might help Bailie out to put some toys into the pool for her to play with. Bailie actually agreed and found it real fun to take toys out and put them back in with lots of splashing around. I was not happy because all the in and out she was doing got my water dirty, and then something fishy appeared!
What is this Mr. Fishy doing in MY pool?
I’m certainly not going to risk my life to get this fish out of the pool, so I called Bailie and told her to take care of it. In the video below, you will hear me howling some orders at Bailie about what to do with Mr. Fishy.
Bailie had great fun with wet Mr. Fishy, rescuing him, squishing him, shaking him, and running him around the yard. Even with all the rough play, he suffered no injuries whatsoever.
Mr. Fishy as we affectionately call him is a PrideBites toy that we received for a review which you can read by clicking here. One feature we love about PrideBites is that they can go in the washing machine, so Mom figured why not the pool too? Mr. Fishy is one busy fish! He traveled with us to Vegas, and has currently moved out of the house and is living in our yard. Stay tuned…he may end up in our washing machine one of these days if he wants to move back into the house which would probably trigger another post!
Heads Up, It’s Birthday Month!
Dust off those party hats and make sure to stop by later this month! Bailie will be turning 1 on June 17th, and Katie will be 12 on June 27th. I have generously offered to share my blog with each on them on their special day, AND they have each chosen a favorite product to giveaway to a lucky reader! Giveaways will each be announced and started on their respective birthdays. I will be baking (and posting my recipes) as well as planning their birthday parties, so it is guaranteed to be a festive second half of June around my house and blog!

This fish is causing some fun mischief, so I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.
LOL! Very cute. I am SO glad Bailie took care of that fish for you Emma!
Love the pool too. We always love it when pool season opens here at Casa del Mel. 🙂
A pool is a must for summer in MN!
What a awesome pool. I’ve often thought it would be great if Bailey and Katy would use a pool, but they both have water issues.
Each of us use it, but we all use it in a different way. It is a great way to stay cool in the summer.
What a great pool! You are lucky to have such a great place to cool off! But why didn’t you like sharing your pool with Mr. Fishy? I bet he liked swimming for a change, instead of being dragged all over the backyard 🙂
I like to just relax in the fresh clean pool water, no playing or splashing. Bailie likes the toys and getting water everywhere.
Looks like fun. Swimming with the fishes! Tomorrow is my Katie’s birthday she will be 7. My how time flies. June is a special month.
It is fun! I am 7 until September and think it is a great age 😉 Hope she has a super special day!
Oh my!! Not only did I love this post but Dakota is barking his head off because he heard you bark, or maybe, he just wanted to say hi? xoxo
I love to howl. Bailie and I like to get all the dogs in the neighborhood going. Mom isn’t so happy when we do, but we don’t care.
Wow lucky you. We’d so love a pool but our garden is not big enough. Bet you have lots of fun in there. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
Couldn’t you just put it out sometimes and then put it away again. It is so nice and fun on hot days.
That looks like so much fun! The fish is a great pool toy. Storm has a birthday this month too. Looks to be a good birthday month!
Of course, the very top of the crop dogs are born in September, but the next best are all in June 😉
What great fun and I think fishy enjoyed the swim too. Glad Bailie was there to help him out. Birthday month how much fun is that! Have a great day.
Fishy soaks up the water, so I think she loves that when she squishes it while playing water comes out.
A swimming pool of her own is maybe what Bailie needs – then she can get it as dirty as she wants! Can’t wait for the parties – we will be there with our party hats on!
This is going to be a fun month. Wonder if I can figure out how to make a scratch and sniff site so friends can smell the cake and stuff?
Wow! I like your pool, and it looks like fun! My pool is way bigger than me and it scares me. The mom has to be right beside me. I can swim but when I get to the edge of the pool I go vertical…and panic. I like your Mr. Fishy! I have an orange fishy that makes bubbly sounds. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
In Florida we have one of those pools too. We are scared of it as well. I like to be able to touch the bottom with my paws. Even in the lake or ocean I never go out real far.
That was a great video!
I can definitely tell you were barking some orders there! hahaha!!!! Glad your having a blast in the pool! We are setting ours up soon too!
We also have a birthday this month!!!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Sounds like June is a major birthday month! Let the partying begin!
The pool looks so fun! Neither one of these dogs would appreciate the pool though. Even Torrey isn’t a huge fan of water.
I just love water, and Bailie enjoys splashing around. Katie can’t stand being wet, so she uses it as a giant water bowl only.
Seems like a good time! My doggies used to have a pool, but I forgot it out in the sun, and anything left outside in Florida deteriorates quickly. I didn’t think I left it all that long, but when I tried to move it, it cracked and turned into a pile of tiny blue plastic pieces. Hubs was pretty mad, because he had to help me clean it up. XD
My first pool lasted a couple years, now I have it under the new one to keep sharp stuff from puncturing it. Bailie likes to chew on the edges, so this one may not last all that long.
Mom bought us a pool this year!! We haven’t gotten it out yet, but one day soon. My sister’s birthday was yesterday so we had a big celebration for her. She turned 6. Does your mom keep the hose running in the pool? You don’t mind that? You have a very distinctive bark, Emma!!! Have a great day. Your doodle friend, Dash
Happy birthday to your sister! No, the hose is just to fill it up the first time. I don’t mind the hose or the cold water, just like to soak in my pool. I was howling really, not much of a barker 🙂
I haven’t broken out the pool just yet, mostly because the weekends when I would do it haven’t typically been too hot. AND I’m nervous about pulling it out and having Sampson do too much frolicking. 🙂
I can’t believe Bailie is a year old already!! Where does the time go?
Mom is rather sad that she will officially have a dog in two weeks. Bailie still has plenty of puppy in her, though, so no worries really! I would worry about Sampson slipping too if he tends to get wild with the pool.
I love water and pools. I don’t know about Vaks, I don’t think he has ever seen a pool. Sniff from Laika and Vaks.
I love water, growing up my first year on the North Sea Coast. Bailie is kind of liking it, Katie never liked water, even in Germany.
That pool looks awesome, we’re quite jealous! Hard to believe Bailie is already one, and quite impressive how healthy Katie is for a 12 year old large breed pup
I bet Penny and Eko would enjoy a pool, but I have a feeling they will be at the beach 😉 Katie does well, but her arthritis is tough for all of us.
I just love watching y’all run and play! And your grass is so pretty! I guess that comes of not having chickens in your yard.
Mom says she could watch us chase forever, and we do chase every night and sometimes during the day too. We have some ugly pee spots from the winter that need to grow back, but overall, the lawn is in pretty good shape.
That pool would be so much fun if it wasn’t for all that water!
Ha, ha, ha…that gives me an idea to put Bert in our pool! No, we won’t do that to him, but if he is real naughty…
I better watch you from a distance when you have water in your pool :o) But that Mr. Fishy is pretty cool! btw: who barked at 0:21 in your video?
That was my howling…Mom says I am a live foghorn!
Emma, I hadn’t heard your howl/bark before so I enjoyed the video! Have fun in the pool! It looks so refreshing.
I have a big voice when I want to make noise! We will be in the pool a lot this season, I am sure.
So cute! I don’t think my dogs have kept a pool clean for more than a minute. They love to get wet, roll in the grass/mud, then rise themselves off.
Ours usually gets grass in it, but Bailie kept putting dirty toys in MY water!
excellent – we can leave a comment again !!!!!!!!!! You guys are seriously crazy – we won’t even put our feet in a puddle and you are soaking in one !!!!!!!! Nice way to cool off though 🙂 🙂
Katie doesn’t like water at all, she only drinks from the pool.
It has to get a LOT hotter here before mom will get my pool out, because I hate it. Glad you enjoy yours! Love Dolly
Katie doesn’t like it, except for drinking, but Bailie and I love it.
Cute video and pics! We’ve been contemplating getting Rita a pool – but we’d have to have some serious control over when she could go in and out. We normally just leave the back door open, so can’t have her coming and going if she’s been in and out of the pool! Bailie and Rita are practically sisters! Rita’s bday is the 16th!
So many dogs have June birthdays it is crazy! Mom has to keep an eye out for when we are wet too.
Emma, we keep our pool on the deck too, because Leo would make a huge muddy mess if we it was on the grass. Happy to see Bailie’s first pool experience was a good one. Can’t wait for all the birthday fun to begin – WOOF!
Mom doesn’t want it to kill the grass, so we had it on the rocks but then it got a puncture and we had to buy a new one.
Yay for the pool being open! I love how you lie down in it to cool off, Emma. We might have to get one of those fishies for Luke, he would have fun with that too. I actually want to find some toys that sink to the bottom because he loves to stick his head in the water. Do you ever do that?
I do put my head under if there is something interesting. The fishy absorbs water, but doesn’t sink. I think Bailie enjoys running with it and squeezing it as water comes out when she squeezes it. I just enjoy laying in the cold water and relaxing.
Emma, Oh my bathing beauty!! You look so cute in your pool. I expected a bikini, but it is probably for the best or I would stat howling too! I told my mom that we need to get a pool. Like Bailie, I’m sure Pierre will get in and out to make it dirty. *Sigh* Kids! Love, Your Basset Bentley
I just enjoy soaking “in the fur”. It is so refreshing. Now Bailie is chewing on my pool, little devil! You should get a pool, you would love it!
I like Mr.Fishy! What a fun blog today! Chablis prefers DRY land – water is NOT his cup of tea.
Thank you. Katie doesn’t like to be wet at all, but the pool is a nice big water bowl for her in her mind. Bailie was a bit timid with the pool at first but now loves splashing, and I spent my first year on the beach on the North Sea, so I am a complete water baby.
I luv water! Enjoy your pool!
Do you have your own pool too?
Hey Bailie
You run off just like I do when you’ve snagged something cool! 🙂
Have fun with fishy! 🙂
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Yes, that Bailie thinks she is so sneaky! It is quite amusing!
I can’t believe she muddied up your pool!!
Little sisters, no respect!
Ahhhhhhh!!!! Enjoy!!!!
We will!
How COOL, birthday month at your place! WOOOT! Allie says until she loses some weight she won’t be caught dead in her pink bikini. Faraday heaved a huge sigh of relief, and then Allie thwapped him.
LOL! I want to see the bikini in photos! You kitties are funny.
That is a pretty cool pool! Ash loves to get in the pool but us other dogs stay clear of it! It’s going to be a fun birthday month at your house! Awesome!
One wild and crazy month coming right up!
Oh, ho!!! That howling really got my Dogzilla pup’s attention!! That was funny!!!!!
We always perk up when we hear dogs on a video too!
