She has certainly turned into a beautiful lady dog! it is hard to believe she was a real naughty puppy that brought Mom to tears many times those first few years. She was Mom’s first puppy, and being a difficult breed, it was not always easy but they finally got it together.
Here she was on her first birthday in Bernbach, Germany, which is in the German state of Bavaria. If you click on the town link you will see it on a map. You can see the crazy teenager in her back then! One good thing about being a Kuvasz is you never show your age through your fur color…she was already white at birth! She has had lots of experiences for a dog, traveling to seven countries and eleven US states so far. Katie lived her first five years in three different towns from southern to northern Germany and then settled in the US.
I made Katie a Banana Strawberry Ice Cream Cake for her birthday. If you missed it, click here for that post including the recipe. We had to celebrate her birthday yesterday as today Mom has a lot of stuff going on. I wanted a nice photo of her with her cake, but she didn’t want to pose and the heat was melting her cake. This is the best my photographer could do.
Being 12 is hard work, so after a nice belly full of ice cream cake and a drink of water, the birthday girl opted for a nice nap in the grass. Our trees aren’t real big, but she did manage to find a bit of shade.
I promised my sisters each a giveaway for their birthdays this year, so I’m turning this post over to Katie so she can bark about what she chose!
Katie here. First a thank you to Easy for this super cool birthday card. As an older, lady dog, it is real flattering for a young, good looking pup to send me a card 🙂
I decided to offer treats for my giveaway. I don’t play much with toys these days but I sure love treats. I really like the healthy stuff like what Mom used to buy for me in Germany, so that is what I will be giving away.
Emma gets lots of treats from her blog job, and most of the time she shares with Bailie and I. The treats she has received and Mom has purchased from Jones Natural Chews are so good and remind me of Germany which is why I chose these treats. Emma’s good friend Flea, offered to let me give away a bag of scrumptious Lamb Lung Puffs and a bag of Beef Trachea treats. The Trachea treats are real good for my joints, so any of you dogs out there with joint issues should be chomping on some of these, and since my breed is known for guarding sheep, Lamb Lung Puffs are a good fit! One lucky winner will receive these two bags of treats. All you have to do is enter my giveaway through the rafflecopter below. This contest is only open to US residents, sorry about that.
Good luck to everyone! I’m going to have some more cake now and maybe some Jones treats as well. It is my birthday, so I can do what I want!
