Sunday is laundry day at my house, and that means fun day for us GBGV’s. Being scents hounds we know about good smells. Bailie and I both feel that next to the kitchen, the dirty laundry basket has the best smells in the house! GBGV’s are also known to be thieves and stealing laundry is one of our favorite things to do. I used to steal laundry all the time, but now that I am a more mature dog, I prefer to help with the laundry and leave the stealing to Bailie. In the photo above, I was just checking to make sure the new load was balanced correctly in the washer.
I also feel the need to sniff through the basket just in case there might be something worth stealing, but as I said, I rarely steal laundry these days.
Bailie, on the other hand, is so into stealing it isn’t even funny! Mom has to watch her all the time, or she is gone with a piece of dirty laundry. Here she has evidently zeroed in on her item in the basket.
Bailie uses the “grab and dash” technique for her laundry crimes. She has the item in her mouth, ready for transport. It seems she is real focused on dirty, sweaty running clothes. Warning, do to high speeds, the photos may be a bit blurred.
And in the blink of an eye, she is off down the hall, tail up, and rounding the corner to her bed to chew on her proudly stolen stinky, sweaty, sports bra!
Nothing in the laundry basket is too big for Bailie. A set of king size sheets is not a problem. GBGV’s have strong teeth and with a bit of tugging the sheets are out of the basket and on their way.
Note that with the larger laundry items, Bailie’s speed is seriously reduced! She is still following the same plan at low speed – down the hall and find a safe place to just chew.
Laundry day is all fun and games, until…one of your best friends ends up in the washing machine! How could Bailie have missed Fishy in the laundry basket? Mom is so very sneaky with our toys sometimes!
Poor Bailie was beside herself, and couldn’t bear to look at Fishy in his new tank. Fishy is made to go in the washer, but still it is like a bath for a dog, possible, but not pleasant! Will he survive the trauma of the spin cycle?
Bailie learned her lesson: less focus on the dirty laundry in the basket, more focus on what is in that dreadful washing machine!
***Fishy survived and was not harmed. PrideBites toys are made to go in the washing machine, just not the dryer. For more information on fun toys like Fishy, you can click the PrideBites badge in my sidebar***
I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.
Oh Balie, you crack me up! 🙂 Love the disclaimer at the end! Have a wonderful Monday! 🙂
Thanks for coming by. Glad you enjoyed the post.
Haha that was great. G and g like dirty laundry too. Glory likes socks and underwEar and Gman likes anything. He is consistently bringing stuff out and will also carry around blankets. I step on them so he can’t steal them and he pulls me down the hall
Laundry is a wonderful treasure that is highly undervalued by humans.
typists dog used to steal bits of laundry when he wanted to play chase, he would run away with them but never ever chewed them.
Bailie likes to chew and rip stuff. Katie and I never did that either, but every dog is different.
Emma you don’t fool us one bit! But that Bailie, whoa! Love Dolly
We really have our paws full with Bailie, but it is usually fun at least.
You guys are just to much. Always make me laugh!
We love to have happy friends 🙂
Love the picture of Dog in Laundry – Classic!! 🙂
You can find just about anything going on at our house. Between the three dogs and two cats something crazy is always happening.
Your Bailie always takes my breath away because I think she’s my Smokey Lonesome Ollie that we lost last summer. Same face, ears, coloring – Ollie had one blue eye and one brown one so we always thought he was some kind of Old English Sheepdog mix – he had been dumped in our neighborhood ten years ago and landed happily in our home. I still can’t get over the loss so Bailie is a little bit of Ollie for me.
Sorry you lost your pup, you will never forget him. Mom still sees dogs that remind her of her Trine. It is a good and bad thing, but it keeps Trine on her mind. Hopefully Bailie can make you smile and remember the good times with your doggy.
We have a laundry thief here too – he loves his dad smelly socks 🙂
I prefer socks and underwear, Bailie isn’t as particular. In the summer Mom rarely wears socks, so they are a real rare find.
Emma, do you help fold too? Maybe we can hire you to come help at our house?
That is more the cats job. They sit on the warm laundry and press it into shape.
Emma you are the darling of laundry day. Bailie and I are from the same mold. I love to steal laundry – dirty or clean! I especially like socks. Have a magnificent Monday! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
I’m a sock and underwear girl, but in the summer Mom rarely wears socks, so they are hard to find. Bailie prefers sweaty running clothes but will take anything just for the thrill of stealing. I think laundry theft is in the BGV genes.
Definitely a BGV thing. Our washer opens on top. I like yours better! Sparkle
On top would be bad, I couldn’t get into it in that case.
Oh Emma! Mom laughed and laughed this morning but she said we couldn’t read the post in case we get some ideas about our laundry!
Maybe you can sneak a look when your mom isn’t around? Glad she enjoyed it.
Humans just don’t understand how much better laundry smells to a dog BEFORE it goes in the laundry.
Exactly! We are not keen on that silly clean smell humans love so much.
Oh, those are some blatant thefts, doesn’t even take detective work to figure out the culprit when she’s caught on camera… I’ve been trying to get help with the laundry, but the only thing that happens at our house is Bonnie sneaking away with some dirty underwear. She’s usually such a good girl and definitely old enough to know better, but dirty laundry awakens the mischief in her…
As I said, next to the kitchen, dirty laundry has the best smells in the house! I love socks and undies too 🙂
Dakota is a master at the “laundry dash and grab” too!
My favorite is to take just one sock without Mom knowing and then let her find it when she is done with the laundry. She doesn’t like that game, though.
LOL…She just wants to help!
Oh yes, she is very helpful! So helpful, Mom doesn’t know what to do!
My help with the laundry is not appreciated! But I did manage a makeover on the laundry basket when I was a small pup – I left it in one thousand pieces all over the bathroom floor. One day when I was a bit bigger and the washing was hanging up outside, I had a couple of minutes on my own and took it all down and spread it about the garden.
I don’t know why they don’t want my help!!
I would think spreading it around to dry would be most appreciated. Humans are so hard to understand.
Haha! I would love that kind of help with the laundry here!
It definitely keeps laundry time from becoming boring.
Really sweet pictures, thank you, they made my day!
Thank you, we love to keep our friends smiling.
No fishies were harmed in the making of this post, huh? My own Chewy loves dirty socks.
Nope, Fishy is all clean, happy, and reunited with Bailie. All is well. I prefer socks and undies myself, but Bailie isn’t as choosey.
That must have been traumatic for Bailie! Bentley doesn’t steal from the laundry, but he loves to sit in the laundry room. He considers it his office and has to be bribed to leave.
GBGV’s are known to enjoy stealing. The joke is that if you want one to walk perfectly with tail and head high around a show ring, they need to have something stolen in their mouth 😉
hahahaha you are a great helper! There is nothing better than to run with mom’s undies through the back yard. I always wait till she has all her stuff on the whirly bird before I grab it . I’m glad the fishie is well and he looks not green from that carousel ride during the spin cycle :o)
I have never managed to get the dirty laundry out of the house. We don’t have a whirly thing here, it goes into the big drying machine, except Fishy, he has to dry naturally.
Like Bailie, Penny is also a laundry thief. Luckily Eko grew out of the phase like Emma, hope the same is true for the pups!
Hate to dash your optimism, but I didn’t grow out of it until I was about six and I still do enjoy a good theft now and then 😉
Lol don’t know how much of a help you are but you sure are cute!
She feels real helpful. It also keeps Mom on her toes guarding the laundry!
hahahahaha!!!! Well, I am just so relieved to hear that fishy survived the whole ordeal!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
He is one lucky fish and Bailie is one happy pup!
That is too funny! I love Bailey dragging the huge sheet. That’s talent!
She thinks big for sure!
Shiner loves stinky laundry too! Particularly my underwear… She just got her first PrideBites last week, but we haven’t needed to wash it just yet.
Fishy goes outside, and in the pool, so he needed a bit of a clean up. I personally prefer socks and underwear, but Bailie will take any dirty laundry.
I love that the PrideBites toys can go through the wash! Such a plus! That’s such a cute photo of Bailie watching her toy in the wash with complete shock! 🙂
I remember the day I found out Bunny was in the wash, horrible day and after that, Bunny never squeaked again. All ended well with Fishy, though.
Now I see why laundry day is so much fun!
Cat bro Bert sits in the dirty laundry too sometimes.
Phew….that was close with the fish! Luke has been known to steal laundry, but I’ve certainly never seen him try to get the sheets! That Bailie is too funny. This reminded me so much of Luke yesterday though. My hubby had been working in the yard and took off his sweaty shirt and threw it over the deck rail. Next thing you know there is Luke running around the yard with the shirt, throwing it, rolling on it, and having a yahoo time! I think Bailie and Luke would get along good….probably too good, they’d be nothing but trouble together!
Oh they would be a happy pair for sure! Bailie steals shoes when Mom puts them on the deck railing to dry. She is so proud of her thefts too!
Phew! so glad to hear that fishy is going to make it!
He is completely back to normal, just has that “clean stink” now.
Laundry is fun. Glad to hear fishy is going to be OK.
It is always a fun adventure these days!
I’ve stolen laundry before too – socks are my favorite!
I like socks too, but Bailie likes larger items I guess.
Hee hee! I have a laundry thief, too. Her name is Sassy. She likes clean laundry or dirty laundry; whichever she can get. Her favorite are socks. Today she had about 5 of them in her mouth at once. She will bring them to me. Silly girl! 🙂
Wow, if I steal socks, I only take one and I usually hide it until Mom is done with the laundry. That is part of the fun!
I wish Rita would help with the laundry like you do, Emma! She’s no help at all! Our angel Abby is like your Bailie. She used to steal our socks and underwear all the time!
When I was younger I did a lot of undie stealing, sometimes socks too, but I seem to have lost that thrill the past year or two.
We don’t like to steal the laundry! We are more like Emma…mature doggies!
Good to hear I’m not the only dog with a bit of common sense!
Hey Bailie
You sure are good at the laundry mischief!! Even taking on the sheet challenge! 🙂
I used to do the laundry mischief, but then I got all mature just like Emma and now I’m a bit rusty, maybe I need to brush up on my skills? 🙂
I hope you’re having a fun day,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
I still get the occasional urge and steal on sock until Mom is done with the laundry, but Bailie just can’t seem to get enough of stealing right now.
Laundry day seems like it’s every day at our house – not an efficient use of the energy here. I think our puppies would LOVE that toy.
Oh, and our clothes aren’t safe from the dogs either.
When we had all the rainy weather last month, Mom did our laundry a couple times a week as we went through towels like crazy, but we are back to normal now.
I’m not really into dirty laundry and because of that mom is very happy LOL.
Mom finds it quite amusing but sometimes admits it gets a bit out of hand and she wishes she didn’t have to keep such a close eye on it all the time.
Too funny. Freighter used to steal socks which worried me because those can be so easily swallowed. Glad Fishy survived!
I doubt we would ever swallow a sock, but Bailie would like to rip one apart for sure!
I’m hoping fishy survived the spin cycle!!
Delilah likes smelly things too. Typically she goes for the dirty dish towels, I think that is because there is food smells on them. But she rolls in them and I don’t know why! LOL
Maybe she is looking for a nice food perfume??? Fishy survived…a bit dizzy but he is fine now.
Oh my gosh, those photos of Bailie stealing the laundry had me loling! XD Niles isn’t interested in laundry but she does get upset when we wash her toys. 🙂
Glad you got a good laugh! Toys in the laundry is quite shocking I must say!
You two crack me up! 😀 Maya and Pierson don’t mess with laundry.
We don’t mess with it, we play with it, steal it, hide it…
Haha … to cute! I’m glad to hear Fishy is doing OK after the washing incident. No wonder Baillie was upset … the washing machine could have mistaken him for a sock and made Fishy disappear with all the others! I bet she was relieved 🙂
She was very happy when he finished his time in the washer!
Love the photos. I wait until Sofie is at daycare to wash her lovey or she will stand in the laundry room all day. She steals socks. Louise is afraid of the sheets.
Mom figured Bailie needed to just face it. She did alright once she forgot about it.
Of course fishy made it… he’s a fish!! Probably prefers being in the tank too… Haha! 😀 Donna has no chance to get near any laundry, hohoho. But then don;t think she’s as much a scent hound as you guys either… hmmm…
Fishy does seem to enjoy any place with water!
