Today is the final game of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. This has been quite the event between my sisters and I at my house. We each had our own favorites to start with, but in the end we stand united with Katie behind Germany. Katie was born in a town called Pilsting in Southern Germany in the state of Bavaria. She still carries her German Pet Passport, so it is only natural that she is a Germany fan. SheΒ loves to play soccer, although these days she isn’t able to play much with her arthritis. She has had a soccer ball since she was a pup.
In the first round I was howling for England since I was born in England and have a British Pet Passport. England was sent home from the World Cup after the first round. They were pretty bad, so that left me with the USA and Germany to howl for. Since I lived in Germany myself as a puppy, I was kind of favoring them to win.
Bailie is my only “made in the USA” sister, so she was naturally howling loudly for the USA. They did make it to the second round but that was it for them. The USA was sent home from the World Cup after round two. Quite honestly, Bailie did not care as long as she has a team that advances so she can drink some Bowser Beer, howl a lot, and just party.
Katie is extremely proud of Germany making it to the 2014 World Cup final. She has been glued to her dog bed while watching all their matches, barking loudly for goals, and growling at bad referee calls. Being from Bavaria, she even has her Bavarian beer mug! Look at her proud smile!
The three of us have all gathered together on a soccer field in a soccer goal to celebrate. We each have a German beer glass, mug, or stein for our Bowser Beer. Beer is to Germany as fish are to water you know! We will be gathered together howling for Germany to win and if they do, I may be out of commission for a few days! Are you watching the World Cup today? Who is your pick to win?
I amΒ joining the Black and White Sunday Blog Hop sponsored by Dachshund Nola and Sugar the Golden Retriever. Sometimes photos are simply more fun in black and white (with a splash of German flag).
It is the first time I have seem Katie smile. How can we not root for Katie!
Give her a soccer ball and she always smiles!
Try not to get too wild, girls, but have fun! I won’t be watching, I’m heading to the Nascar race, but I’ll give Germany a shout out for you. Go Germany!
You should watch the game, skip Nascar, and go to Germany and drive on the Autobahn…you own Nascar races! Have fun!
Good luck ladies! Love Dolly
Thanks, Dolly!
As an English dog? Yes, England were dreadful. Luckily Hooman lost interest at that point… π
I was not proud to be a dog from the UK the way they played, but luckily we each had our own team and one managed to make it.
Good luck Emma. We don’t follow soccer or the World Cup, so we will cheer for Germany also!
Katie is our big soccer/Germany fan, but Mom likes to watch sports in general, so we will be watching. Thanks for cheering along.
Yeah for germany, and especially Katie.
We have our paws crossed.
I was a little sad as it was over for the US. And I was sad for Oz’s team. Tonight my dad will howl for germany and I will howl for Argentina, because I’m always the opposition. My mom will howl with joy when the whole soccer-thingy is over :o)
We are for Germany, but it is only a game and since most of the teams are out, we are lucky to have one of ours left. After today, it will be over for a few years.
my mom is grateful for some quiet years :o)
The mom and I had no opinion today for the final game…until we read your post. For Katie and her pack, “Go Germany!” Cheers! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
See, it is good to have lots of friends so you can find someone to follow in any sport!
Soccer is a big deal in our house. And I couldn’t be more proud of my two favorite teams Netherlands and Germany!
We were sad the Netherlands didn’t make the final. We had high hopes for a Netherlands-Germany final, but it wasn’t to be. Should be a good game anyway.
But Netherlands did win the third place game yesterday for the bronze!
I know, but it is still nothing like being in the final game!
Lots of SMILES π Today is the big game! Good luck! Happy Sunday. Golden Woofs
We all have our paws crossed!
it seem since the USA was eliminated there has not been much on the news……in fact I thought is was already all over π
No matter what they say, soccer is not real big in the US. We only follow it because of Germany.
Y’all sure look like real champions!
Thanks!
We are not soccer fans although we did watch the USA. Since we don’t have a favorite team, we will cheer for yours! Good luck!
Mom likes to watch lots of different sports and is also a Germany fan, so we will be watching.
We are not football fans in our house but we love your photos! Enjoy the match π
What? I thought kitties loved to chase a moving ball…soccer is perfect for kitties!
We just arrived home from our vacation in Germany. Dad saw a lot of that soccer and all the Germans were so exited about there team. After all I am a German Shephard (from Denmark LOL) so we cross our paws for Germany to win π
Awesome! Hope you had fun in Germany. It is a great country to be a dog. Dogs get to do so much stuff.
So excited for the game today! Should be a good match.
We are all ready, pre game is already running.
should be a good match
Watching now!
I must confess and please don’t think less of me ;-)….all this World Cup stuff is wasted on me. Ho-hum…boring……the world’s longest sporting championship!
That’s okay. We get sick of the US sports that go on forever, like hockey Stanley Cup in the summer basically. Sports are sports.
Roooooo oh Emma – this post is too cute. We have a similar dilemma going on in our house with lots of different sporting events, with one of my humans being Swedish and the other Dutch, and my being English! *Waggy tail*
LOL! I thought you were all British. Well at least you and I have the correct passport!
Good luck to you! π We are cheering for Argentina.
Thankfully for Katie they won! Sorry about Argentina, but it is only a game.
Before Harley and Leo – we lived in Neu Ulm so we were pulling for Germany also. Cute photo’s Emma
Mom has been to Neu Ulm many times, Katie was there too. They have an awesome Christmas market! MN also has a New Ulm, so it was always a fun place to go or take MN visitors. She was in the Ulmer Muenster too π She lived in Germany for ten years, a couple am Bodensee in Unter Uhldingen, a few in Kempten im Allgaeu, some years in Siegen and the last three in Sankt Peter-Ording.
I think you all have to keep those smiles on your faces! So, there you have it π
It worked, they won…mud party!!!
I don’t like football butt you girls have got me in the mood π Do we have Hot Dogs at half time BOL xxxx
Hot dogs? It is Germany we are rooting for…beer and brats, silly π
How fun! Great pictures. You girls are so adorable. Enjoy yourselves! π
Thanks, we are thrilled now because they won!
It seems that your team has won the Big Prize! Yay for Germany! All your cheering paid off!
Katie was really happy. She even had spring in her step on our evening walk!
Mud party? We’re getting on a plane and bringing some New York mud with us!
Nothing is more fun than getting all dirty!
Germany won! But I were snoozin, BOL!
It was a game to snooze over, not real exciting until the goal in the last part of overtime!
Germany!!
Did you hear us howling after the goal?
Bet there are lots of celebrations going on at your house! Yay Germany! Woo Hoo!
Oh yes, we were some happy girls and even Katie was in the mood for a walk at normal speed. It put some pep in her step!
I guess it’s safe to say you all had a great day! That was a long game, but a wonderful outcome for Germany. Hope you had fun!
–Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats
It was LONG, but at least it paid off in the end. We like a bit more action, but as long as our guys won, we are thrilled.
Whoooo, you won
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Did you hear us howling after that goal? I think the whole world may have heard?
You three look like super fans! I bet your house was extra happy today π
It was a happy house last night!
Woohoo!!!
You pups look pawsome!
α¦ husky hugzΒ α¦Β frum our pack atΒ Love is being owned by a husky!
Thank you…after that celebration, we aren’t looking so awesome anymore π
Congrats to Germany for the win. I’m not a soccer fan, so I didn’t follow it. I hope you girls didn’t drink too much beer. π
We howled our lungs out and are dead tired today!
Ausgezeignet Deutschland! We are SO thrilled here! It’s been a great World Cup party these past weeks. You all look fabulous in the Rot, Schwartz und Gold! π
Genau! Wir freuen uns riesig!
I guess the German team must have heard you cheering. π
Believe me, a GBGV can howl pretty loudly!
awesome cheering crowd! Love it!
Howling crowd is more like it!
Congratulations to Katie and Germany on the World Cup victory. My humans were in Berlin the day Germany and the U.S. played, so they were huge Germany fans after the U.S. went home . . . and they enjoyed a beer or two while watching the final match, too!
That is awesome! Katie and Mom were living in Germany for some of the past World Cup games. It is so different over there.
We were right at the Brandenburg Gate as the fans were streaming in to watch the game. Very fun, and everyone was so nice to us. They kept saying, “We’re hoping for a tie,” because then both teams would have advanced. I thought that was so sweet! We were also in St. Petersburg and saw one of the 2018 World Cup stadiums under construction. Now I can’t wait for 2018 to see the finished product.
I’m sure that was crazy there in Berlin, but fun. We think the SuperBowl is a big event here, but it is nothing compared to soccer in other countries. Glad you had a great experience!
Katie has a lovely smile! I’m glad her team won – they deserved it.
She is a beautiful lady dog! We are all happy Germany won, but it sure took them long enough to score a goal.
