A few days ago, I had to go to the doggy spa (Fancy Paws) to get my coat stripped, and a bath. Mom took that opportunity to take Bailie to the dog park alone. She went to a park we rarely go to in the summer because of the pond. Mom doesn’t like the water, and it is real muddy, but with all the rain we have had she thought it would be okay.
Bailie has never really gone swimming. In Florida last winter she did try swimming in the pool with Mom holding her up, she splashes in our little pool at home, and on walks, she never goes in past her tummy. Mom wants her to swim like I do and thought maybe alone she would finally give it a try. They started by Mom throwing a stick into the pond not to far out, and then each time a bit further. She did quite well retrieving it.
Bailie was fascinated with the dogs retrieving tennis balls thrown real far out and was studying how they would swim. She also wanted one of those tennis balls. After a bit of time, she did actually venture out and really swim on her own! She was determined to chase that dog for the ball! She didn’t have a chance, but it was fun trying. “Hey, wait up my friend! You are too fast! I’m new at this dog paddle thing.”
Bailie overcame her shyness and really let the GBGV out. She was not afraid to start working the “beach” area like they did on old TV series Baywatch. I am way too young to know that show, but Mom told me about it. Bailie took charge of the dogs at the beach. Chasing down the riff raff was part of her new found duties. “Stop you mischievous dog!”
Bailie was not shy about calling in a larger dog for backup in chasing the riff raff.
As a Baywatch dog, she started mediating arguments over tennis ball possession in the pond. “Play nice you two or you will be asked to take a time out!”
Baywatch Bailie really clamped down on the roughhousing in the water and did not want those dogs creating a gang on the beach either. “Let’s break it up guys! No roughhousing allowed in the water!”
She also became the swim coach for the Retriever Swim Club…”Swim faster, faster…let’s see that dog paddle working it!!! First one done gets a tennis ball!”
In the end, she did not want to go home. She had a blast and learned it is a lot of fun to go swimming and to boss other dogs around. She was pretty tired out after her day as a Baywatch GBGV Lifeguard.

I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.
What a fun fun day. I just love water and dogs. It’s nice at times to just have one on one time with them that way they can really shine.
Mom always feels bad leaving the others out, but she forces herself to have one on one time with each of us almost daily. This was a good outing for Bailie.
Swimming with new friends is the best and so glad she really enjoyed it.
She sure had a blast!
Yea Bailie. Always fun to try new things. Congratulations Katie! Did you get drunk on all the beer last night?
Katie is a bit slow this morning 😉
How fun! I bet she was exhausted.
She was totaled out even the next morning, but happy.
What a fun time! I’m sure nap time was a necessity after all that playing!
She slept a lot even the next day from all the stress, fun, and racing.
Go Bailie! It looks like she had a blast!
She really did according to her, Mom, and the photos!
Yes, I bet everyone had an early bed time!!
Correct. I was worn out from three hours at the spa too.
Oh Emma, look how HAPPY Bailie was after all her adventures at the park! I am glad she was able to “spread her wings” without her big sister looming over her. BOL Happy Monday!
Oz
I do like to keep my nose in her business all the time, so she was really able to do as she wanted, without me looking over her shoulders. She had a total blast.
Looks like an awesome day for Bailie! Bet she was sleepy afterwards, lol
Afterwards, and the next day too.
Bailie may be a Baywatch beauty, but she is not as beautiful as YOU! I hope you had a relaxing day at the spa while Bailie was the boss of the beach. Congrats, Katie, for your German win! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
All of us girls have our own beauty. She still has that young great bikini body figure, but I have gotten more beautiful with age Mom says. We are pumped up about the soccer game for sure!
“The retriever swim club!” That made me smile. Ace would love to visit this pond!
🙂 Just visit early in the year as it gets pretty gross mid summer and beyond. We normally avoid that park from mid June until it is frozen. Lots of dogs swim all year, but Mom doesn’t like the looks of it for us.
Its just an observation, but maybe Bailie should get more opportunities without Emma? She really seemed to come into her own it was great to watch! Love Dolly
We figured that out in the spring. She goes to daycare on her own on Wednesdays and she will be doing tracking with just Mom starting next month. She is a social butterfly, so Mom tries her best to give her opportunities.
Looks like a lot of fun! I’d rather see Bailie on “bay watch” than Pamela Anderson any day of the week!! 🙂
The only thing missing is the lifeguard stand 😉 Bailie doesn’t have a big chest to shake while running so guys may prefer Pamela.
Wow looks like you had a complete blast my furiend!
Bailie sure did. That is what a dog park is for.
Woah!!! Nice! Looks like everyone had a ton of fun!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Oh yes, I think Bailie had a fun hangover the next day!
Looks like Bailey had a great time!
She ran her little paws off I think.
First, congratulations to Katie for her team winning the World Cup! I knew the Bowser beer must have been flowing! I am glad that Bailie learned to paddle like a pro and is keeping your beaches safe while you were having a spa day. I must admit though, I was hoping it was you in a bikini carrying a rescue surfboard! Just saying…Your Basset, Bentley ♥♥
LOL! I wish I had been there swimming rather than getting cleaned up, but it had to happen. Bailie is more the Baywatch girl with her teenage figure…I have a good figure too, but maybe I will go swimming another day 😉
That looks like a lot of fun! I’m glad Bailie kept everything under control on the beach 🙂
I think she has learned a lot from her bossy GBGV big sis!
Looks like she had an absolute blast and really took to the water – now it’s her turn for a bath!
She had to go to the dog wash station before Mom put her in the car. Mom said she fought like crazy and was at all interested with getting cleaned up!
Great! Now you need only an orange mankini… nah, wait you are a girl… so a pawkini would be better :o)
I would love to see you at this beach with your mankini! That would give Bailie something to howl about!
Baywatch Bailie sure does look like she is in charge. It looks like a really cool place to hang out.
She likes being the boss for a change.
Yes indeed, Baywatch Bailie sure had quite the pond party going on!
I like that pond party term
Way to go Bailie!! I bet you had a ton of fun swimming and playing beach babe. When I see her break out that bathing suit, I’ll know she’s a Baywatch convert.
I think she might be embarrassed to wear it at the dog park 😉
That lake area looks AMAZING! Harley would love to swim in there with you all. Great photo’s ladies…
Have him grab his Speedo and board the Greyhound to Minneapolis!
That looks like a great park with some fun water. Glad you had some fun and policed the beach Bailie.
Fenced in water is hard to find.
I noticed the fence in the water…lol.
We don’t know the purpose of that fence, but normally it is not in the water. Things are all flooded here from the rain.
Jack and Maggie got some swimming in last week too – approached it the same as Bailie, wading first and then…well stay tuned, we have some videos. Looks like Bailie had tons of fun.
Bailie just loved it. Wish we had a nice place to swim more often.
Baywatch Bailie….I love it! What great photos of her having such a good time, and I love each caption of what she was up to, she really did make her presence known at the park that day! It doesn’t seem fair she was having so much fun while you were at the spa though, Emma, I’m thinking that’s not your favorite place?
I’m not a fan of getting all fancied up, but I have to go every three months or so. It is good for Bailie to get some time out without her big sisters so she can really be herself. I guess she learned how to boss other dogs around from me 😉
Wow, that looks like fun! Baywatch Bailie looks like she had a blast.
–Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats
She did have a great time!
Looks like a ton of fun! I luv swimmin!
It was a ton of fun for her. She can’t wait to go swimming again.
It looks like you had a lot of fun Bailie! Now your mom needs to put a swimming pool in your backyard just for you and Emma and we don’t mean one of those little kiddie pools!
I don’t see that happening in Minnesota…the warm season is too short 😉
Looks like you had a blast Bailie! It’s nice to spend some time with just you and Mom. I bet it was fun for Mom to watch you playing and learning on your own, without your sisters’ influence.
Mom said they both had a blast. I’m okay with them going on their own, just wish I could have stayed home and not gone to the groomer!
That looks like fun. Gretel went for a little swim today too. She fell of the paddleboard and swam for her life 🙂 She is not a big fan of water. It didn’t phase her once she was back on the board though.
Bailie fell off the raft in the pool in Florida and swam but it was a scary thing since it was unexpected. This was more fun. Some day we would love to try paddleboarding!
Looks like the most fun! Did you know they are bringing Baywatch back (typist heard this on the news) apparently it’s coming back but the powers in charge won’t let the new series be called Baywatch despite the fact it will star the hoff, and so it’s got a new name which she can’t remember.
Well there’s half a story for you – she really is rubbish!!
All the old stuff is coming back. I guess human imaginations are all out of good ideas!
Now all you need is a sexy bikini! BOL 😉 Really that is great that you went swimming Bailie!
I’m just thankful she wore her collar and didn’t go nude! She is a wild child you know.
I’m super impressed Bailie did the proper swimming thing! I’ve never been brave enough to go past my belly!! Great job!!
I hope you’re having a fun day,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
We GBGV’s can be real brave 😉
Looks like Bailie had an awesome time!
She really wore herself out!
It looks like Bailie really enjoyed her swim and being a doggie Baywatch lifegaurd. I’m sure everyone felt much safer with Bailie on the job!
Safer, maybe, but I think the retrievers were getting a bit bother by her pestiness!
How neat! I’m impressed. Wish I had a place to let Chablis try swimming. He won’t go in over his ankles. Plus he doesn’t retrieve. So even treats can not lure him into swimming depth.
Bailie isn’t much of a retriever either, but if Mom gets her interested in something and throws it, she will try to get it back. It really helped her seeing the other dogs swimming I think. She wouldn’t do down in school either, but Mom came home and had Katie and I do it a few times to demo it, and she started and has been consistently the best down dog in all her classes!
Wow, Bailey is such a great swimmer! Look at her go. She looks like she had a great time! Wish you could have been there, Emma!
I think it was good for her to get out alone a bit, but I would love to have been there too.
nice… what fun Bailey had!!
It sounds like Bailie had a fantastic time! It’s great that she can swim now, you’ll have lots of fun when you can get in some water together.
Next up…dog paddle races! LOL!
