Our family is really active and we all love working out together. Mom calls us her “fitness buds”. We are pretty motivated all on our own, but we know lots of folks have trouble getting started with working out. If you haven’t joined yet, you may want to hook up with PetsMove.org. This is a virtual fitness club where a dogs fitness activities are measured in paws. It is all done on the honor system, but the competition should help motivate you to, as they say, “get off your butt, and move your mutt”. Bailie and I are usually towards the top of the charts every month. My bandana is a prize one of us won for being in the top three a few months ago. It is all for fun, but it may just be the motivation you are looking for.
Mom loves to work out with us dogs, and we love to work out with her, so I came up with this infographic of 10 good reasons to work out with your dog.
I hope this motivates you to get out and work out with your pup! It is so much fun, and so healthy for you and your dog! If you like the infographic, please share so hopefully more folks will be motivated to get out and work out with their dogs! What is your favorite reason to work out with your dog?
I’m joining the FitDog Friday Blog Hop hosted by SlimDoggy, Peggy’s Pet Place and To Dog With Love! Share your story with others and find fun, new fitness ideas too!
Love the sneakers , Emma. Looking good.
Trying to be a good fitness role model. Fit dogs and humans are happy dogs and humans.
We love the graphic. Pawsome and we so agree with your 10 tips. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
Thanks. Mom and I came up with it together.
Superb info graphic all great reasons.
Good luck to bailie on passing her Cgc she can do it
The last few days she has really pulled herself together. We hope it holds through Sunday!
I’m sure they are not new to you, but a good reminder.
What a wonderful and great infographic!!!! Thanks you so much for sharing! 🙂
Thank you. We want our friends to be healthy and fit!
Great post! So many good reasons, and seeing you in all those cool outfits inspire us to try too. =)
It isn’t always what you do, it is also how you look 😉
Love the Infographic! Such great incentive here – And I love reason #9! Thanks for joining the Hop.
Thanks. 9 and 10 are our favs!
We agree with all of those reasons! Love Dolly
Hopefully your mom will recover quickly so she can get back to putting down the mileage with you!
Emma, you are pawsome in all your outfits! Great suggestions and wonderful post. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Thank you. I like to think I perform better in the right outfit!
gosh – we had forgotten all about Petsmove……we joined up ages ago and were keeping tracks then Mom got sick and we forgot all about it – great reminder.
Glad I reminded you! It is hard to get in the habit of keeping track, but once you do, it is fun.
What a great infographic…super inspiring! And those shoes are TOO cute! Daisy likes to go walking with me, but I can’t get her interested in Zumba or Hip Hop Abs which are my two favorite workout DVDs.
Maybe if you hold treats or a favorite toy while moving around it would be more interesting to her?
The habit forming part is key for those sluggish days when you don’t feel like running. Eko’s restless whines have certainly pushed me to run when I didn’t want to. And in the end I was glad to have him push me.
And with Bailie…the thought of her boundless energy if we don’t run motivates me too!
That’s a great infographic! Thanks for sharing 🙂
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thank you!
Emma, I love the inforgraph and the shot of you with your ears tied up and the water bottles brought a HUGE smile to my face! We love your tips too, especially the “eat more!” ♥♥♥ Your Basset, Bentley
All 10 points are good, but 9 ad 10 are my favorites.
Great tips Emma!
Thanks!
I do like number 9!
That is one of the best ones, isn’t it!
Hi Emma, Now that my numbers are up (as mom says) I am FULL of energy! Mom says we are going hiking tomorrow. It’s so great–mom can’t use me as an excuse anymore. Time to get moving. We love your photos and tips! your doodle friend, Dash
Good for you guys! Happy hiking tomorrow!
That is a great infographic, Emma. I love all the photos of you in your different fitness gear! I think #7 is my favorite reason. If I’m jogging or going on a long walk it is so much less boring when I have a dog to talk to and pay attention to, and it keeps my mind from focusing on being tired!
9 and 10 are my personal favorites, but 7 is really important to Mom.
Great reasons and wonderful photos! I posted a photo on my facebook for one reason I can not work out with my dogs ( as a response to Corey’s video of Chablis’ grandpuppies.
Well, you have special circumstances. I don’t know what we would do if Mom was injured. She had to wear a walking boot for a foot injury a while back, but she didn’t rest and actually wore out the boot from walking so much before the month was up. We hope nothing incapacitating happens to her!
Great infographic and motivational post! Love Reason #9!
If 9 isn’t motivation, I don’t know what would be!
I love your infographic Emma! Great work!
Thank you. We had fun making it, but it is not as easy as we thought it would be!
Congrats, that’s a cool bandana. Mom likes to work out with me because we like to do all things together and she is doggedly (literally, lol) to fit in their pants. I will talk about #9 with my mom tonight…
9 is so awesome…bring on the treats!
You guys are all such good fitness reps! Speaking of reps, we need our mom home,s tat, so we can do our WAND toy Workout! #catsneedexercisetoo! 😉
My cat bro Bert loves his fishing pole and he is on a quest to capture that red dot!
And the best reason dogs are good exercise partners is they don’t talk. I used to hate running with my husband because he never shut up. 🙂
Shhh, don’t tell him I told you.
Mom talks to us a lot when we run. We wish she would be quiet too because we think she scares away the critters with her chatter.
I take a walk wif my momma everyday and we also play in da pool.
And I watch her do Jillian Michaels videos and lay in da middle of da floor and snooze. BOL!
There is a reason they call serious sleeping sawing logs…it is hard work too!
Great graphic! #9 is our fave reason to work out! Rita and I both love our long daily walk together!
9 and 10 are my favorites!
Awesome… and your right, dogs are ready to work out all the time… but the human… is… tooo… lazy…. 😛
At our house, Mom is often the one that has the boundless energy and we dogs are worn out, but we go along anyway.
#7 is my favorite and it’s really true!
Mom likes all ten, but seven really helps out, especially when she has those days she isn’t feeling up to running.
Great infographic! And awesome shoes! Sadie and I are both too lazy, but I know she needs more exercise, so in encouraging her to exercise, it makes me exercise more 🙂
You don’t have to be crazy about it like my mom is. Just good walks are good exercise. Start slow and build up. If you do it daily around the same time, your brain chemistry will change over a month or so and you will start to feel the need to get out there.
Good reasons, and even greater infographic Emma! I think you look smashing in that paw bandanna!
Lots of Woofs from Earl and I at Earl’s World!
Thank you! I always like to look good 🙂
Love the infographic. I will share.
Thank you!
I think you are so ready to work out 😀
We all love working out. Doing it together makes it fun.
Awesome infographic! Emma you inspire us! Sharing now…
I love to inspire others, it makes me feel good.
Atka likes the ‘eating more’ part 😉
We love the eating part, so it makes all the work worthwhile!
Brilliant info-graphic and top reasons!
Thank you.
We get our tiring woods walks in every week good workout for all of us (except Aspen). And no fear with a new puppy workouts are guaranteed for all 🙂
We definitely know the new puppy thing with Bailie. Now that she is a bit older we have chase and wrestle games every night…it wears me out!
Numbers 9 and 10 are my favourites!
They are my favs too!
The ‘workout’ of the walk is the benefit I get from clearing my mind, which is mostly my motivation for walking. “-)
Mom is in her zone while walking or running. She solves the world’s problems and more on our walks which is awesome, and she also pays attention to us.
