One evening I was busy tweeting away on Twitter when I received a request from @TaliasToys to write a review of their barrel braided tug toy. I figured that would be a good thing to try as my sisters usually love a rope toy. I agreed and a few days later I received the braided rope tug toy in the mail along with a sweet thank you card and some snacks.
There was a snag to my task, as I don’t play with toys. Luckily, My GBGV Life has a staff, and they can assist me when a problem like this occurs. Katie has been a rope tug lover her entire life, so I knew she would help me out. Well, Katie has been in a funk for days now. She refuses to be photographed doing what Mom asks her to. For days Mom tried to get her to play for a photo, but as soon as the camera showed up she dropped the toy. This was the best we could do.
Luckily, I have little sis, Bailie! Bailie was all over the task at paw. I gave her the braided rope toy, she took it and started so proudly strutting her stuff around the yard with it!
Bailie was going absolutely wild with the rope toy! The shot is a bit blurred, but I had to get these eyes on the post!
Mom played some tug a war with her and the rope toy. It is real strong, didn’t tear, or shred. Bailie has sharp chompers and a strong jaw for testing. She is almost 40 lbs too, so there is some weight behind her pull.
It is a good size and texture for her to get her shiny, white, chompers into for good grip. They come in different colors too. I chose the purple because I know little purple girl would play with the toy the most.
Bailie also enjoyed just rolling around, playing with the rope toy.
After some tug a war with mom, parading around the yard, and some chewing on the rope, Bailie settled in for a rest with the rope.
Thank you to Talia’s Toys for sending us this barrel braided rope tug toy to test out. Katie did play with it a little bit off camera, but as you have seen, Bailie really loves it, and gives it a hearty GBGV howl! If you are looking for a fun rope toy for your pup, check out Talia’s Toys, you will like what you find!

that looks like a great tug toy – it would be even better if it had a loop handle at each end – my boys love tug and pull like crazy so it helps to have something we can really hold onto
We have some with handles too, but the knots on the end make it easy to grip.
Adorable photos! I’ll have to check these out. All there of my dogs love tug toys, especially ropes.
She has a nice variety and they are not expensive.
Katie is smart. She doesn’t want to reveal her special way to play with the toy. π Bailie looks like she is having a blast. Thanks for the great review and thanks for joining the hop!
Bailie did have a blast. With Katie you never know what mood she will be in except with treats, then she will do anything.
Great review and pictures bailie was having a great time. My gang loves rope toys.
We have a few rope toys that get used now and then, but Bailie loves this one.
Nothing like a good game of tug after a hard day’s napping. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
And those napping days are hard!
Oh, wow! Great pictures…especially of the eyes. I am going to talk to the mom. I love toys, and I love to tug on them with my Boston siblings. Mom’s previous PBGV, Maggie, did not play with toys either. I even bring the mom toys so she will throw them for me so I can be a retriever. I love, love, love toys, but I can be destructive with them. Gotta go talk to the mom! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
I bet she could get you one in your favorite color. They are pretty inexpensive.
And there you have it! Bailey is now the official “tug toy” tester. She’ll be thrilled with her new title!
I wonder if we can add that to her name with her AKC titles? Bailie, CGC, TTT (canine good citizen, tug toy tester). LOL!
Jack and Maggie are like you Emma, not much into toys. Does that mean we have to get a puppy?
I’m surprised. I thought retrievers always liked toys? You could get a puppy, or just enjoy living in a home that doesn’t look like a toy explosion!
I like it. Topper and Ellie love rope toys, and they’ll play tug-a-war with each other, but they disassemble the regular ropes quickly. I might have to get them one of these. =D
These are nice and not too expensive, so if it doesn’t last, you aren’t out a fortune!
That looks like a great tug toy! Your photos are over the top amazing. And Baillie is beautiful. As always. π
Thank you! It is a fun tug toy and cool since it is made out of old t-shirts.
Hi Emma, thanks for joining the blog hop!!
That sounds like a nifty toy and hopefully it will help Miss Bailie stay out of trouble!! It seems she’s been into quite a bit of mischief of late. π I’m afraid she’s channeling her inner Delilah. π
Yeah…if you google the word trouble, her photo pops up! Mom is a bit frustrated with her desire to destuff pillow items the past week or two, but we are hoping it passes. It has started happening when Mom is home too, so we know it isn’t a separation thing. We try to laugh it off as she will grow up and be a more mature dog way too soon anyway.
That self-satisfied strut always makes me smile. Tug of war is one of our favorite games around here, a good tug toy like that is a must-have.
Mom loves that they have a couple varieties, lots of colors and they aren’t real expensive.
Tug is one of my favorite games, Emma! That rope toy looks like such fun. Just look at Bailie’s wild eyes!! That is a funny photo.
Oz
She is a funny girl when she isn’t into serious trouble π
You sure make that tug rope look like fun. We are not a big fan of tugging.
Lily & Edward
My sisters love to tug.
Awesome toy!
It’s real nice.
Nothing better than a good game of tug!
That is what my sisters say. I’m not interested.
What fun pictures. Dogs sure love ropes.
Thank you. Bailie really loves it.
It’s a good thing to have staff, Emma, even though they don’t both always cooperate! Bailie really had a blast with that, didn’t she? I think our crew would love this toy, they love to play tug of war.
Bailie is still having a blast with it, and they aren’t expensive, so if they get wrecked, it isn’t a big deal.
We have a Talia’s tug toy and really love it. Like Bailie, Pierre does most of the playing. That boy always has toys all over the house. I think those two would wear each other out playing! β₯ Your Basset, Bentley
Since Bailie joined the family, our lower level looks like a toy explosion most of the time.
WE love playing Tug of War….with all the SOUND EFFECTS we can muster.
THAT is a super one… It looks very sturdy . You should give it a try Emma.. You don’t know what you are missing. Just sayin.
I’ve just never been interested. Katie used to pull mom around the house in her desk chair, she really loves it!
Looks like a great toy!
And you are definitely enjoying yourself in those photos! Nice!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Bailie really has fun with it.
OMDog those pictures are great! That rope looks like a lot of fun, we could have some serious tug-o-war games!! Thanks for sharing!
You should get one and give it a try.
Looks like a really fun toy! We have a large rope ball here. The pups love it!
It’s always good to have a couple toys for rotating.
Dakota has one too and he loves his toy from Talia’s Toys!!!
It is a pretty nice rope.
That is some serious tuggin’ fun!
Cat bro Bert tried to chew on it a bit too.
Bailie good job helping out big sis! Looks like a great toy! Love Dolly
I have to be careful as she loves to help out and I think she is secretly trying to steal my show!
Those photos of Bailie are awesome!! It looks like she is having a terrific time too. Shiner has one and she loves it.
Thank you. Bailie really has a blast with it!
We recently had a four way game of tug in our house (3 dogs and 1 human). I wonder if Thalia’s makes any really long rope toys. Because Bailie’s toy (and I assume it’s not Bailie’s) would be too short.
It looks like 16″ is about the longest, but you could check with her on etsy or twitter. She might do special requests too.
Great pictures! You have a pawsome team, Emma π
Thank you. Sisters are useful sometimes!
Looks like Bailie had a great time with the rope toy! Fun photos!
She really loves it. You can see how proud she is to have it too.
Looks like great fun!!
It was a fun walk, especially since Bailie had never walked there before.
Rope toys are a favourite in our family π Glad you enjoyed yours Bailie!
She really loves this new one!
