Don’t be frightened! We did not trade Katie in for a Doodle model. You may recognize this handsome guy with the bandana? It’s our blog buddy Spencer the Golden Doodle! He’s a Minnesota blogging dog and lives about 90 mins away from us. We met at the Pet Expo in June, and thought it would be fun to get together now and then for some good times. We met up at our favorite dog park Cleary Lake with 28 fenced acres, for some good old fashioned romping around. Katie did not join us as it was real hot and humid and we didn’t think she would be able to walk as long as were planning to walk.
Spencer had never been to this dog park before, so we got to give him the grand tour. Bailie was busy being her “busy self” out in front, making Mom nervous by going out of sight and not coming when called. Spencer and I were barking about our blogs, and stuff like that as we walked along.
Spencer thought Bailie was kind of cute, so they did some serious sniffing together.
At one point all three of us kind of got our wild pants on and did some racing back and forth.
The best part of the whole day was the swimming hole. I just love to swim and being such a hot and humid day, it felt good to get in the water and soak in the coolness. Mom says I look like the Lochness Monster, whatever that is.
I was shocked to learn that Spencer is six and has never been swimming! Heavens I was living on the North Sea at nine weeks old. I think I may be half fish. Nevertheless, he took to the dog paddle like a bee to honey. All it took was one tennis ball and he turned into Mark Spitz! Bailie was working on her dog paddle as well. I was the standby lifeguard dog.
One dog was kind of picking on Bailie, so I went over to let him know not to hassle my little sister or he would need to answer to me.
Every dog seemed to want Spencer’s tennis ball, but he wasn’t about to give it up!
Even though many dogs really got in his face, Spencer continued forward bringing the ball to his mom so she could through it again. The guy was fearless!
Suddenly the tennis ball was gone and all of us friends started playing other games in the water.
I don’t know how it happened, but at the end of the day, I looked like this. Bailie and Spencer didn’t have a speck of dirt on them, but I seem to have it all over myself. Oh well, I don’t mind looking like a mess as long as I had a good time.
Mom says the couple hours we spent with friends at the dog park walking, running, and swimming was a real workout. How cool is that? We worked out for hours and had a blast! You can do that with your friends too for some variety. The only bummer was we were dead dog tired and when we got home, this is what happened almost immediately. Thanks Spencer for a really fun time!

How cool that you got to play with Spencer! We really like Spencer the Doodle βΊ It looks like a great place to have fun.
It is a real nice dog park and big too.
All dat swimmin looks like fun!
Just like you, we love to swim!
That was fun having a play date with Spencer doodle. Have a fabulous fit Friday and fun with friends has to be the best.
Best wishes Molly
Fit fun with friends is pawsome!
Wish we have such a great place to swim π
We wish we had more places to swim, but one or two is better than nothing.
Looks like you had the most amazing time!
It was a lot of fun!
Wonderful post! I has such a great time, wish we could do this every week! Until next time, keep an eye on that sister of yours, she sure is a bundle of energy! π
Thanks, Spencer. I wish our moms didn’t have that “job” thing, then we would have more time for good fun!
Hi Y’all!
Wow! What a wonderful place to romp and meet other pawed ones!
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
It is perfect with trails, water, tall grass and trees.
What fun that you got to have a play date with Spencer, and it definitely looks like you had a blast! I loved seeing the pictures of you all swimming and playing in the water, and how great that Spencer got to have his first swim too. It definitely looks like it wore you out!
We were all totally dead after a couple hours of fun at the park. It was a great time.
How cool is that to meet up with a fellow blogger and have a wonderful time. Great pictures and great exercise, the swimming ones are great!
I sure wish we could swim more, but decent water that allows dogs is hard to find these days.
Now that was a great way to burn off some energy and it is always so much fun when you can meet up with a buddy
It did pretty much suck all the energy out of all of us, but it made for some great napping later on.
It always makes us smile to see all of you having so much fun!
Can you imagine if there were kitty parks…I think you would need to put on boxing gloves at the entrance π
That’s awesome that you guys got to hang out with Spencer; I think it’s obvious all paws involved had a good time. Oh geez it looks like that Border Collie was not only sort of picking on Bailie but giving the stare as well. The photos at the end of them resting, nice and comfortably, is a sweet end to a fun day.
Border Collies can be difficult. They are so focused on things, and their eyes are scary, but no harm done and Bailie actually gave chase after it a few times too.
It’s just so obvious with Border Collies; you can tell when they’re focusing on something too much. I don’t think they can hide their intensity π
That is true. They can almost be spooky!
How cool! We are so jealous you get to play with a blogging buddy!! Looks like you all had a blast!!
This year we got to meet several blog pals at BlogPaws and then we met Spencer, it is really fun to get to know our friends in the fur.
What a cool place you have to play and swim! It appears all at the park had a fun but exhaustive day. Emma, did you have to get a bath when you got home? XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
I tried to put up a fight, but I lost. I don’t know what the big deal is with humans and a little dirt. Dirt is all natural isn’t it?
Dirt is to “BGV’s” like catnip is to kitties! Sparkle the PBGV
That is exactly correct. Nothing worse than being shiny clean! Dirt is where it is at.
What a fun day!!! I bet you guys were wiped out.
We crashed out on the way home, staggered into the house and fell into our beds.
What a fun time – so great to get together with friends and just chill. I Love that pic of you and Spencer sharing blog tips…
It’s always good to exchange ideas and thoughts with fellow bloggers!
How cool was that – a Doodle / GBGV romp! Love the watering hole, and Emma, I didn’t know you were a “round the way girl” putting two paws up to protect Bailey. You go girl. Glad it was a great day, and Harley would have loved to have been there to get all muddy with you!
Harley would look really great in mud, like my sister Katie, but she dislikes getting dirty. It was a total blast but I don’t like dogs picking on other dogs.
Looks like a great day. I bet you slept sweetly afterwards. =)
Bailie and I were snoring and all…totally worn out.
I was about to say Katie looked a bit different… What an awesome meetup! Very cool that you guys got to get in a good romp together. And you looked like a muddy mess, the sure sign of a great day. Enjoy catching some z’s this weekend.
I just love being a mess, but for some reason, humans don’t seem to appreciate it!
Wow what a FUN time you had!!!!! How cool that you got to be with Spencer too!! Wish I could have come! Barks and licks and love, Dakota
There was plenty of room for more friends, it is a huge park!
I hear swimming is great exercise, Emma…but you know I won’t step one paw in the water. BOL You all look like you had a GREAT time! I am so jealous you got to hang around with Spencer. Have a great weekend!
Oz
I think it is good you stay out of the water living in Florida. I want to go to the dog beach again next time I am down there, but it is on the ocean so no gators, just sharks! LOL
That’s so pawsome that you got to meet up with Spencer! Good job defending your little sister π
I have to look out for her sometimes. She can be overly nice and polite, so I need to let other dogs know to lay off.
Oh my dawg Spencer what are you doing over there! What a blast
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Spencer was hangin’ out with us hot babes!
That swimming hole looks awesome! So fun that you got to meet up with Spencer. We love meeting up with our buddies.
I think I need to get my furry behind to Chicago!
What a super day! And how great that you had fun and a workout, two in one! And to meet Spencer in the furs is great too, he really had fun in the water although it was the first time!
He didn’t want to leave the water. Amazing he had never swam before!
Barley always has her wild pants on! I think you are much cuter than the Lochness Monster! Glad you had such a fun day–working out is always more fun with friends π
My wild pants are my favorite pants, I wear them most of the time too! Too bad Barley wasn’t there with us!
Oh thank God, I was worried. Looks like the three of you are having a fun hike. I did 20 minutes on the tread mill today, does that count?? Chablis
It is probably pretty boring unless you had some wabbit odor blowing your way, but it would count as exercise, fun? Not so sure.
Love the photo of you in the water Emma!
Thanks. I love the water.
Okay I wanna join in the fun here – great exercise and great mental stimulation, too. I bet they all got great sniffs on that day, too!
Oh yeah, plenty of stuff to smell there. We were 100% dead by the time we got back home.
That looks like a fabulous dog park. I don’t think we have any like that near us. I’ll have to do some investigating.
Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats
We have quite a few dog parks, but only a few that we like to go to.
Looks like everyone had a great time.
I suspect Honey would like the blog a lot more if she got to meet more blogging dogs herself.
Maybe, but I just enjoy review fun and tasty stuff as well as getting out and doing things including modelling which I adore.
Wow, that park looks like so much fun! I love seeing all you happy dogs. And the pics of you and Bailie all tuckered out at the end of the post are so adorable.
It was a super fun time and we had a good snooze after!
It looks like you had a really great time! The swimming part looks too fun!
The swimming was the most fun of all.
We love that park & go there fairly often. Have you been to the Minnehaha dog park? That’s another favorite of ours. Otherwise we typically steer clear of many dog parks. But those two are basically doggy-nirvana! We better enjoy the weather while we can ;)…
No, haven’t been there. We aren’t big dog park frequenters either, and most of them are not really “for us”, but we will have to look into that one. We’ve gone walking around there but didn’t know about the dog park. Thanks for the tip!
What an awesome play date! Looks like everyone had a blast!!!
We had a really fun time!
How nice of you to protect your sister. Looks like the three of you had fun!
Some dog has to look out for the innocent ones…well, she isn’t really innocent, but still she is my little sister. We had a blast!
How nice of you to protect you sister. Looks like the three of you had fun!
Heyyyyyyy!! I know that pup! Love their blog!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Spencer and I talked about your blog on our outing. He is a fun boy.
You guys had a great time!! π Great place, not just trails to sniff but some place to swim too π
It is our favorite park for so many reasons.
Looks like you had a fun time. Swimming! The brown dawgs would love that part.
I think all three of us enjoyed the swimming the most!
I love that your dog park is 28 FENCED acres, I’m so jealous. That would be amazing to work with Delilah!!
Looks like you all had a blast, but I bet mom wanted to give you a bath when you got home. π
Oh yeah, he dreaded bath was on the schedule. I worked so hard to get the nice look and smell too, but Mom could not appreciate it.
