It is back to school for most mini humans today. Mom finds it depressing as she enjoys learning but she did not like going to school at all. It brings back memories of how she dreaded going back to school. We enjoy learning fun stuff at our nose work and tracking classes as they are more like fun hobby classes than school. Today, it is off on that yellow bus for most kids. On the bright side, they often leave unattended backpacks at the bus stop which means prime stealing opportunity for scent hounds out for a walk! Mini humans are easy targets!
I do enjoy helping some of my stuffie friends with their learning through reading. Recently I stopped by the library to read to several of my groups. Nope, I’m not a therapy dog and Mom and I have no intentions of going down that path, but I do enjoy helping out stuffies. I really have to keep an eye on Curious George as he is always into something and causing trouble!
For my large reading group, Clifford the Dog always volunteers to help me out. Trust me, with the wise guy old owl, and curious George in the group, I need help! Cliffordย has written many good books about life and about things that pertain to animals. Everyone always enjoys a good Clifford book!
This is totally crazy, but I also have a small wabbit group that I read to. I know they are stuffies, so they are not in any danger hanging out with me. For some reason, they love me. I think it might be that we all have long floppy ears?
One of my dog students has a crush on me and brought me a stuffed rose. The guy just wants to snuggle up with me all the time but I am not interested in the least! I’m way to busy for that kind of nonsense!
After my reading groups I have to enter my work on the computer at the front desk. What’s up with the new sign “Paws Off”? How can I do my work without my paws. Sometimes humans just don’t think.
I guess I better call the head librarian for some help here so I don’t get my paws in trouble. I have to use the old phone book since I can’t use my paws to find her number on Google!
Hope everyone survives the first day of school. We are all grateful we don’t have to go, especially Mom! Heavens, she didn’t even like going to obedience class with Bailie, but it had to be done. School isn’t for everyone!
I love these photos and story – how in the world do you ever get your dogs to pose like that? Red hates the camera so much now he walks out of the room when I’m trying to take his picture! ๐
Bailie and I both love posing. Mom says photo shoot and I come running. I actually get mad if she is photographing another pet and not me. Katie doesn’t like photos and usually refuses to look at the camera.
our schools have already been back for two weeks – we are so happy the shrunken humans are at the day long detention centers – leaves MY parks perfectly quiet and peaceful again
We aren’t big fans of the kids out and about all summer either, but school is still a bummer for them
Great reading group, Emma! I am so with your Mom….I don’t miss school at all. Luke will be going back for more classes starting this week, but this time we signed him up for some private tutoring…I hate going to group classes that much! We hope to learn a lot more by being able to get some one on one attention as well.
If one on one tutoring was a more affordable option, we would choose that too. Luckily, obedience is behind us and we just have nose work and tracking which are fun.
I am looking forward to getting back to the classroom! One of my favorite places to be! Happy back to school time!!
Mom really dislikes school and it bores her to death as well, but there is something for everyone. We like fun classes, nothing required, that takes the fun right out of it. Enjoy your going back to school time.
Awwwww you make learning cool. Happy back to school to all. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
My stuffies seem to enjoy my reading sessions.
Oh, Emma, you are so beautiful in every picture, and you told a wonderful story. Me…I would have had a field day with all those wonderful stuffed toys! The mom actually liked school and from kindergarten until she retired she spent 56 years in school. That is just not right! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
My mom is not a school person. She got top grades but was bored to death and always skipped out when she could. It is not for everyone. I do enjoy reading to the stuffies, though.
So nice you are helping out in the library and helping the stuffies. I agree, school was a drag, I was not a fan.
Yay! Another non school fan. I do like reading to the stuffies, though.
Yep, my daughter is back to school today. It feel weird not having her around.
SO cool of you what you are doing in the library!
แฆ husky hugz แฆ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Nothing like working with stuffies. They are always so very nice.
Wow, those are some cool reading groups, Emma. If you ever start one for real dogs, let me know because I love when someone reads to me! We never liked school here either…and Ma says the first day of school was always so depressing. What a way to end the summer?!?
Oz
My mom even got kicked out of nursery school on the first day…that was a sign of her attitude towards school. I do read to dogs too, but I do that at home.
Great photos, Emma! You are so good at posing, and so gentle with your stuffed friends.
I would never hurt a stuffie, unlike Bailie that would unstuff most of them!
We love this post Emma! You are a good teacher, we can tell. Do you know what mom does for her job? She runs a school! Isn’t that crazy? We like to visit her school when there aren’t any classes going on — just in case we would suddenly have to be in class– yuck. Mom loves school! She keeps saying to everyone: Happy new school year! your doodle friend, Dash
Oh no! My mom is not a school friend and actually got kicked out of pre school! She says it is boring and a waste of time. I think she is like us dogs, an independent type and all that group conformity stuff doesn’t work well for her or my sisters. Glad she loves it, everyone has things they love.
If your mom had had our mom as her teacher (or even her principal!) maybe she would have liked school!
Mom says she only saw the principal on assembly days but supposedly that was a good thing. She had a few memorable teachers along the way, but just didn’t like going to school. I bet your Mom does a great job and is well liked.
You look like you may be in honors classes
Lily & Edward
I was good in dog school, my sisters not so much.
Paws off?? What’s that about?! I’m glad I don’t have to go back to school either ๐
Pretty darn rude in my dog book!
be carefull what you tell to that monkey, they can’t keep secrets. I would like to join your reading group, maybe I you read a crime story I can visit your group? My mom was the only kid who loved the school. She had her bag and her clothes ready long before the school started. While all her friends looked sad on the way to school, my mom always was the happy camper… weird…
Some folks just enjoy school. I didn’t mind puppy school, but Mom and Bailie dreaded it every week. Come on over and read with us, there is room on the rug.
I will wait till tomorrow… the super-menu brought some bad aftereffects to my exhaust system :o)
Oh dear…better get out in the fresh air!
We can all learn something from you Emma!
Thanks, kitties ๐ Now if only my cats felt that way.
Hilarious! I love the phone book. I haven’t seen one of those in years.
I like to use antiques in my posts sometimes ๐
You would make an excellent mascot for the school or library. The kids would all cheer (or I guess whisper, in the library) your name!
I would probably cause a big commotion and then all the kids would be in trouble!
Emma you really did Chews EXCELLENT books… Our Mom..who is a BeTIRED Elem. School Librarian… says that the kidlets… (and OF COURSE your STUFFIE Students) Loved those Curious George and Clifford books.
My mom is not big on reading, but I love to read, so I know a bit about good books ๐ That is cool that your mom was a librarian!
I think stuffies make great students, they don’t talk back, they don’t complain about the homework and they always pay attention…not like I did in school ;(
Very true and in the library, they are always quiet!
i would imagine that stuffies make the best audience. they don’t fidget like little humans do.
another great photo shoot, emma.
wags, bailey unleashed
Thank you, and stuffies are also real quiet in the library.
Hey you are in my old stomping grounds of the library! I would have let you use my computer, but not the children! They are very destructive. โบ
We know first hand that kids are destructive. Whenever kids come to our house something always gets broken or messed up. They are worse than Bailie!
Looks like you had a fun day at the library. I bet brown dawgs would have a hard time being quiet…lol.
I haven’t howled in the library yet, but if there was danger I would break that silence policy!
Good job teachin dem stuffies.
They are all real nice and eager to learn.
Cute cute cute!
