I’m back with my third installment of the “Healthier Pets. Happier Lives.” campaign by Hills Science Diet. While visiting your veterinarian regularly, and eating a healthy diet are very important parts of a healthy, happy life, there are also five little extras that can make a big difference! One of the best way to have happy pets is to shower them with love, which should be a given so it did not make my list below. Do your best to provide the following five little extras to keep your dog healthy and happy!
1. Treats – every pet parent enjoys giving out dog treats. Make sure you are providing healthy treats in moderation along with proper exercise. Have your dog work for a treat, it is a great way to work on obedience or tricks and it reinforces good behavior. Hills Science Diet provides many different varieties of healthy dog treats to choose from. Take your dog along with you when shopping for treats if you want a really happy dog!
2. Toys – most dogs love toys. There are a wide variety of toys on the market from puzzle toys to stimulate a dog mentally, to tennis balls for fetch, ropes for tug games, and more. Dogs need mental and physical workouts so make sure you supply both types of toys and always supervise their play. Rotating toys is also a good idea so we don’t get bored with the same old toys all the time. Don’t just give your dog a toy, play with them to build that dog/pet parent bond. Happy dogs love fun with their pet parent.
3. Playtime – so very important for happy dogs! If your dog likes other dogs, let them get out and romp together. A pet parent can play with a dog, but nothing beats the fun, fulfillment, and exercise dogs get playing with each other, and it totally wears us out!
4. Exercise – healthy pets and people need exercise. Always consult your veterinarian before starting an exercise regimen. Walking, running, doing nose work, tracking, agility, or other sports with your dog are a great way to stay fit and increase the bond you have with your dog!
5. Grooming – keeping your dog well groomed is so important to overall health and happiness. Grooming is more thanan occasional trip to the groomer. A dog needs regular brushing, nail trims, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and a bath. Grooming can also include dressing your pup up in a fancy collar, or some dogs may need a nice coat in cooler weather. A dog that looks good feels good and is a happier dog!
To celebrate these little extras, Hill’s Science Diet is giving away bundles of goodies every pet parent can enjoy sharing with their dog or cat. I’m excited because I get to giveaway one cat and one dog bundle, so there are two winners total, Good luck! The bundles are as follows:
The dog bundle: a stainless steel dog bowl, a bag of Hill’s Science Diet Dental Chews, a bag of Hill’s Science Diet dog treats and a Healthier Pets, Happier Lives tote bag.
The cat bundle: a laser pointer toy, a stainless steel cat bowl, eight micro cans of Hill’s Science Diet Grain Free entrees, and a Healthier Pets, Happier Lives tote bag.

We give you a high five paw slap for this post! It includes all of the things that we love. ♥ Your Basset, Bentley
Thank you Bentley! We love all those things too and we are healthy happy just like you are 🙂 High paw five back at ya!
Well, I have five Treeing Walker Coonhounds and three cats (all rescues). I guess I’d pick the dog package, since they outnumber the cats, but I would be happy with either one.
Being a dog that lives with felines myself I would suggest the dog package too 😉 Five hounds is a lot, it must be real crazy at your house, as our place is crazy with three dogs and two cats!
I would love a dog bundle 🙂
It’s early and I first read bundled dog! LOL! Good luck to you, it sounds like a great prize.
Sometimes it seems like life with dogs is more complex that it was when I was a kid. The only toys the dogs had were stuffed animals we kids didn’t want and a old socks with a knot tied in the middle for tug and fetch. It was simpler but, really, life with dogs actually gets healthier, happier and just more fun!
When Mom thinks back to their cat and dog growing up they had such a different life. The cat fared really well and made it to 19, but the dog was a disaster for the family. They loved him, but he was so wrong for them. It was just a time where dogs were more animals than family members. We are happy it has changed and improved for dogs and humans.
We like all of those except for the grooming bit we have to say. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
I’m not a fan of a bath and getting my fur done, but the rest of grooming I don’t mind. TGIF!
Great tips for four-legged and two-legged loved ones. An awesome giveaway. With both dogs and cats in our family either bundle would be great, but I guess a dog bundle would be best.
As a dog I have to agree. Those cats can’t start getting control of things or we dogs will be in trouble!
What a great post and tips! We would love the dog bundle! 🙂
Thank you! Good luck!
WE LOVE this post…. Treats and FUN and GROOMING. PLUS lots of LOVE…
We think that dog bundle sounds SUPER.
Thank you. Dog bundles are always a good thing, especially when they are tasty and healthy!
As always Emma, those are some great tips…we especially like the first one 😉
Mom always says we work out to stay healthy, but the best reason is so we can eat more!
We are keeping our paws crossed for a dog bundle! Great post with lots of great tips!
Awesome, good luck on winning 🙂
I had a red rope tug toy just like your blue toy. I killed it, and I have not seen it since the mom put it in the trash! I loved that picture of you tugging on your blue toy. The mom loved the blur of fur of you and Baillie playing and wonders how both of you fit into the shopping cart! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
The shopping cart was from last winter when Bailie was much smaller. It coincidentally was in front of Hills products, so it worked well for this post. I think we could both still fit, but we haven’t tried it in a while.
You guys in the cart is awesome – you guys would make a good racing duo.
We might fight over who gets to drive!
Very very important tips!
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Thanks, guys!
those are all great tips guys and we bet you are shopping experts.
We do enjoy shopping and giving our opinions.
I like your tips, specially the one to take me along when she goes shopping. sadly even petfood store is my area aren’t really dog friendly and dogs are not allowed. but wait… when we shop online that’s like shopping together too, right?
Online shopping counts…get a scratch and sniff monitor, though! Go to Germany too, there dogs go almost everywhere, it was great!
Great tips Emma! Treats rule 🙂
Treats make all the working out worthwhile!
You even have them listed in perfect order Emma!
Love, then food, the rest is nowhere near as important 😉
Super tips! The toys, playtime, and lots of walks are the favorites at our house. Grooming and bath time are a different story. Some dogs at our house, Veruca especially, don’t like to take water baths. But will happily take a dirt bath anytime. That probably isn’t the same. 🙂
I prefer a dirt bath myself. I don’t understand what the problem is, as humans pay a lot of money for their own mud baths!
Hi Emma. Thank you for the opportunity to win some great stuff. If we win, I would choose the cat option. Ace gets lots of goodies in the mail, but my cats do not. They would love the canned food!
I especially like the cute pictures of you in this post!
Thank you. Sounds like another poor dog, forced to share with a feline…I feel for Ace! Good luck and hope kitty wins!
We do all of these things and can certainly attest to the fact that it makes for happy and healthy dogs!
We’d love the dog bundle if we won.
You guys could use a bundle being a multi dog home like us!
Mr. N loves all those things except for grooming. He does like wearing clothes though.
I like hats, clothes, not so much, and baths and hair brushing aren’t so my thing either 😉
Great blogpost 🙂
Thank you.
I would love a dog bundle!!!
Great post!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I bet the dogs would love it too! Have a great day!
I would love the dog bundle!
Good luck to you!
The dog bundle sounds doodle*tastic.
I would be concerned if Harley asked for a cat bundle, LOL!
Playtime and grooming !!!!! Then gimme that food!
I prefer to skip the grooming thing, but humans always seem to insist on it.
Awesome giveaway!
It is pretty nice!
I would like the dogs package, please
Good luck, just a few more days and we will have the winners!
Emma, I just have to say that you look so well groomed and beautiful in that last photo!
I clean up well, but it only lasts a week or two and then I get back to my shaggy self.
The human thinks grooming is important. I beg to differ.
I feel the same way, grooming is a waste of time, but the mom insists.
Those are great extras.
oh and we would like a dog bundle. Thank you.
What about the cat??? 😉
Great little extras which make a world of difference!
We think so too.
Late to the party as usual. lol It sounds like a fabulous prize bundle!
Both bundles looked real nice actually.
